• Brand new T440s with BIOS password

  I have a big problem.

  I bought online a new T440s I opened the box for the first time myself. When I go into the BIOS it asks for password and I just hit enter without entering a password. I can get into BIOS but I can't change any settings.

  What can I do? A brand new thinkpad can come with a BIOS password on the box?

  I get conflicting information regarding the type of password. First image said his power over who can be removed but bios says his supervisor.

  

  

  In fact, it can happen. Sometimes large customers require laptops preconfigured which may include customized supervisor passwords. Of course, you should have not received one of these units. Ask the seller for a replacement unit, there is no easy way to remove an unknown supervisor password without replacing the motherboard for the laptop.

  The old "battery reset" procedure was to connect the charger, then press the Reset button at the back.

  Let charge for a few hours, then check.  If still no joy, I would say that they have been roasted.

  Here you need to start your computer in safe mode and do a system restore.

  Start the computer in safe mode and check the number.

  You have to try to perform a system restore to go back to the work settings, to do that follow the instructions below:

  1) click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

  (2) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

  (3) in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

  4) click Finish.

  If you still have the problem then we will try to reset the windows update components and find the number.

  You must follow the link provided below to run the fixit which will automatically fix the problem if you find problems with the fixit, then you can follow the procedure to manually reset Windows component update.

  I'm trying to transfer some old files/settings in my current PC which is running W - XP 32 bit for my new PC, which is running W-Vista Premium 64 - bit OS. I bought a USB Data Netlink 2.0 transfer cable, responsible of the software installation disc on my W - XP, find assistants of transfer on both PC & connected cable. I followed the instructions, but my XP system can seem to locate the connection of the cable. I'm not very tech savy, so would appreciate some suggestions/help! Thank you!

  Hello sjncousin, welcome.

  Try this:

  1. click on START
  2. right click "My computer" and select "Properties".
  3. click on the tab "hardware".
  "4 click on Device Manager.
  5 expand the category to USB
  6. do a right click and 'Uninstall' illustrated all USB devices
  7. then, restart your computer and try to use the USB transfer cable

  The goal is to update the USB stack.

  I am a Spaniard who currently work in the North of San Francisco and you want to know if I can get the new T400s with the Spanish provision on the keyboard (preferably ' Spanish of Spain", although I could handle with layout 'Latin America').

  Since I got here, it's not supposed to buy my laptop in Spain, so I wonder what I can do.

  You can find the list of RUF T400s keyboard here. I believe that the desired would be qualified bird "Spanish" and none of the 3 part numbers will do.

  Now comes the real challenge: get a. I got wrong in the past to non-US keyboards neat, even direct by IBM (which is responsible for all warranty & parts for ThinkPad always). Give Maintenance IBM parts a call to 1-800-765-5944 and see what they can do for you. Do try all three FRU listed and sometimes their system will list an other FRU, which they should research as well. Good luck and let us know how you are doing

• VSAN showing license key have expired on a brand-new facility.

  Currently have a test laboratory of the three hosts Vsphere implemented.

  With each host with a brand new facility, from magnetic today ESXi 5.5 and at least an SSD and one of the hard drives.

  I was able to initially configure the vsan through the command line on the first host, and then once I had imported the latest version of the standalone version of VCenter and added the two remaining hosts on the VCenter server. It would allow me to add additional disks to the cluster vsan because of a vsan expired license key error. I found this rather curious because everything is the oldest in its facility in four hours.

  If you help me to find a way to get the vsan on trial license once again, would be great.

  After having play with VCenter apparatus and ESXi hosts, looks like it was a problem syncing after all. Not so much the time set in the BIOS, as well the ignition when the VCenter unit is initially configured.

• Cannot create a new startup with my data disc

  Hi guys, here's the problem: when I try to create a new startup with my data disc, I can't boot from this drive.

  The startup progress bar takes forever and then I see a white circle with a line through it. ("Prohibited" / "Ghostbusters" sign.)

  In verbose mode, it hangs on "break pci: SDXC ' for a while, then it clears the screen and watch the Circle + line with 'still waiting on the root device' at the bottom left.

  I can't boot into single user mode. Quite simply, there is the same thing as verbose mode. Even in safe mode. So I have few options for debugging. I did a SMC reset, no change. Is there anything else I should try?

  Additional information:

  -I'm trying to start off a new SSD that I bought, currently in a USB 3.0 enclosure external. I know that all is well with the speaker because I started off of him several times in the past. I know that all is well with the reader, because I tried to do the same process with another drive and it doesn't work the same way.

  -J' cloned my current boot drive to the new drive with SuperDuper!, Carbon Copy Cloner and I also did a clean install of El Capitan using recovery mode. The new facility has worked well until I migrated my old data.

  - So there must be something in my data which are striated throughout this process. I don't know what it is maybe or how to track him down.

  Any thoughts are appreciated!

  Have you tried the PRAM reset? Restart while pressing control + command + P + R until you hear the boot chime at least twice.
