Broadcom NetXtreme II 5708C on PE2900 III
I recently install Windows 2003 server on PE2900 and had bad install
drivers for Broadcom NIC once I finally get installed them and working, I set up a static
IP for one of the adapters and people with disabilities the 2nd adapter. When I do an ipconfig I see my settings,
but when you look at the TCP/IP properties, it shows that it is dynamic. I read this can be a
problem with the broadcom driver, but have not been able to find more details. Help, please.

Hello
I use my laptop Dell E5420 workstation 6. When I try to install esx 3.5 in my computer, it's show error message as port of networking is not supported. Then I tried to install esxi 3.5 in the same system. His installation, but I have not found all of the network adapters. Physical system I have broadcom netxtreme 57xx gigabit ethernet. Broadcom NetXtreme II 5709 quad port NETWORK card issues
Environment:
-V4.1 ESXi on:
-3 x servers Dell R710 (48GB of RAM) with SAS shared storage (No iSCSI) each with:
-4 x Gigabit Broadcom PowerEdge R710 BCM5709 Ethernet ports on the motherboard (works well)
-2 x Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709 1000Base-T on card 2 ports (works well)
-4 x Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709 1000Base-T on a card 4 ports (problems!)
Have installed ESXi 4.1 fees to each server. When you configure the management network, I noticed that:
-Server ESX1 correctly displays the 10 cards
-Server ESX2 incorrectly shows 8 network interface cards (2 on the card 4 ports are "missing")
-ESX3 server incorrectly displays 6 network interface cards (all 4 on the card 4 ports are "missing")
VMware, I downloaded the latest drivers Broadcom 5709 for ESXi v4.1 and installed via the vSphere CLI (successfully) and restarted. No difference.
I exchanged the cards around in the server and 'mistakes' follow the cards.
2 / 3 of the cards of brand new (I hope!) which have been purchased in an order are so apparently defective. Maybe bad batch?
Should I go with trying to replace these cards with the same model of 4-port Broadcom NetXtreme II 5709 cards... or should I try a different provider (for example a 4-port Intel card)?
Suggestions welcome.
In fact the network cards should be picked up in the order the PCI ID as described in example http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1002315
Maybe it's allows you to run a 'Reset configuration data' in the BIOS of the server after connecting the network cards.
The really strange thing is numbering ESX1, where even on a NETWORK card ports are not in ascending order.

All, I am new to the forum but have been reading up on top of a problem that had led me into a wall.
I'm trying to create a development environment that uses VMWare Workstation 7.0.1 (and I tried with 7.0.0 before, leading me to)
update in the hope of a quick solution) as a development of imaging and the test bench. The system is a Dell Optiplex 745, upgraded to 8 GB of
RAM. Unfortunately, it seems that the biggest problem is the network card.
I tried several different operating systems, and all DHCP requests are found in the AUTOMATIC private IP addressing. This is even after I implemented a custom adapter (VMNet2) that fills explicitly to this network card problem. I disabled VMNet0 and all because this dish was not working. I have read some relevant
messages, but nothing seems to help. This included the http://communities.vmware.com/message/675649 and more
positions listed on the registry settings. I don't know what to do at this point.
So, for those who do not know the Broadcom driver issues, they are apparently many. It is important to disable the unloading, but
I'm not able to find the settings in the post linked above. It's quite similar to the OP for this thread. I'm not
know if it's a difference of conductor between the 32-bit and 64-bit implementations. So, I updated from the version of the driver
12.2.2.1 (b57nd60a.sys) of 10.100.0.0 (I think, can not driver rollback now to check because I need to work on VMS for urgent
projects as soon as POSSIBLE). So, as I said, I was unable to find the parameters of this post
()http://communities.vmware.com/thread/191085) mentioned below:
Large Send Offload (IPv4)
Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4)
Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6)
What I found were these parameters:
Flow control (Auto, I tried to disable)
Priority and VLAN (priority & VLAN enabled; I tried priority and VLAN disabled)
Speed and Duplex (Knew better than to mess around here, has made the problems in the past, retired to Auto)
VLAN ID (always 0)
Wake Up Capabilities (Magic Packey; no one tried)
Unloading ARP (Enable; I tried to disable)
NS unloading (Enable; I tried to disable)
I tried enabling / disabling all, specially those mentioning the unloading, all day without success. This did not help.
Later, I tried to add DontAddDefaultGateway, EnabledRSS and DisableTaskOffload keys to my CurrentControlSet on the
host. For some reason any DisableTaskOffload shows in the regedit, GUI, not the export of text. Don't know what this means, and I'm too
tired of care at this point.

I'm sorry, I completely forgot to reply to this topic yesterday (get distracted by a matter of work). I'll be back today and noticed that you have marked this as answer. The root cause of the problem was therefore one MAC address per port restriction put in place by your network management team?

Broadcom NetXtreme II 5709 quad port NETWORK card driver
When I look at the Broadcom page for pilots for the NetXtreme II 5709 NIC, NIC is addressed isn't dual port quad-port. This driver is compatible with the version of four ports?
In this case, I will get the latest version of the driver installed
Not sure why you posted this in the forum of storage, but in general a quad port card is just two controllers dual port on a single physical card. On the PCI bus, you see what appears to be four (or two on card dual port) individual network cards. Although there are two ports on a single chip.

Broadcom NetXtreme 5720 firmware upgrade path
Hello
I'm new to the forum.
I am trying to upgrade the drivers and firmware for the NICs Broadcom in a PowerEdge R820 vSphere ESXi 6 running. I have no problem finding drivers because they are provided by VMware.
About the firmware, it is currently firmware version 7.2 and I want to go to version 7.12, but looking at Dell's Support page I can't find the way to full upgrade (7.12 release notes recommend that 7.5.8 installed, but I can't find a link to this version (, or any earlier version).
Can you please help me find all upgrade packages in chronological order of 2012 so far?
Thank you

Hello
I have a poweredge server 2950 with esxi 3.5 (build 143129). There are two
broadcom netxtreme II plugged into two VLANs different cards. I have
activated the VLAN in the broadcom bios. the two broadcom are connected
to two different ports with two VLANS different: 101 and 103. My VM
Manager is on the Prime Minister vlan (101) on the 1 NIC. the second NIC is
plugged on the vlan 103 pour VM. But I can't ping.
anyone has a solution. ?
Thank you
Thank you. I am currently not able to check with my VI. But in the meantime, you can read this article on ESX and VLAN.
IS preferable, but might need to reconfigure the switch. Maybe you transfer the link or document to your networking guy for advice.

10GbE SFP + LR transmitters for Broadcom 57800 S
Hi all.
I have a r.620 with a card Broadcom NetXtreme 58700 S daughter 2x10GbE SFP + slots.
Dell has only SR (short-range 850nm) issuers listed on their homepage, but need us a 10GbE SFP + Transceiver for the LR 1310nm wavelength. Is there a recommended ARVA LR or can I use any module SFP + support 1310nm?
Thanks in advance
The two I know are:
Dell Reference number: N198M, Finisar - FTLX1371D3BCL-DL
Dell Reference number: 5DCPW, Avago - AFBR-707SGDZ-D1
I don't know there are several other transceivers with the same characteristics that will work.

On broadcom BCM57800 10 Gb nic and iscsi
Hi guys,.
I have a 5.1 with 1 NIC broadcom NetXtreme II bcm57800 esxi server and would use my storage via iscsi.
This adapter support iscsi off load but I do not understand if it is mandatory to add "iscsi software adapter" too esxi or not.
Thanks in advance.
Hi gianlucab,.
Only, you would use the iSCSI Software adapter if you need the kernel ESXi itself to perform iSCSI operations. You would use this with Ethernet adapters that do not support iSCSI unloading.

I hope that someone here may be able to help me understand why the pilot injection fails. During the actual injection, I get the following error in PowerCLI.
Add VIB net-cnic 1.74.04.v50.1 - 1OEM.500.0.0.472560Add - EsxSoftwarePackage:VIB VMware_bootbank_scsi - bnx2i_1.9.1d.v50.1 - 5vmw.510.0.0.799733requires the com.broadcom.cnic - 9.2.1.0, but cannot be met the requirementwithin the ImageProfile. Apparently, the VIB has a dependency (com.broadcom.cnic - 9.2.1.0) which doesn't seem to exist. When I checked the XML file for the Broadcom vib and the Base of VMware Image, they both have the same addiction.
The base image (ESXi 5.1.0 - 20121204001-standard) will not install the Broadcom drivers for the BCM57800 integrated in a Dell PowerEdge r.620 ANC, and the custom image will not take the VIB of Broadcom drivers due to the problem of addiction.
Has anyone else seen elsewhere? If so, how to solve it?
I have attached a copy of the script that I use. Please use the latest version of ESXi-Customizer-PS http://esxi-customizer.googlecode.comscript.
Use - force to ignore the dependencies to the future and should solve your problem.

ESXI5 - Broadcom 5720 QP 1 GB network card girl
Hello
I'm new to virtualization and vSphere downloaded 5 trial.
I have a new server DELL PowerEdge R720 with Broadcom 5720 QP 1 GB network daughter card.
On the installation of vSpere, I get a message "No Network Adapters".
I've tried the «VMware ESXi 5.0 driver for Broadcom NetXtreme II network/iSCSI/FCoE CD» offline
http://downloads.VMware.com/d/details/dt_esxi50_broadcom_netxtreme_17034v501/dCV0YnRAJXdidGVkZA==
And inserted into the iso installation but I always get the same message and the installation does not continue.
Anyone who can help me with this?
Concerning
Jürgen
Looking at the support matrix, it should be this driver
http://downloads.VMware.com/d/details/dt_esxi50_broadcom_tg3_3_120h_v50_2/dHRAYnRAd2piZHAlJQ==
Use the cmdlets to image generator adapted in PowerCLI to generate the ISO file, I still have to find a GUI version that works correctly for ESXi 5.0. (does not say he is not a).
Those you were using was the global beam that includes hardware iscsi and FCoE drivers for old NetXtreme variant I think.
It would seem that there is an Inbox driver that should be compatible under the cd standard 5.0u1, it should at least see the cards. You can see the server BIOS and firmware and levels of NIC firmware to dell support site. (enter your service tag to ensure that you get the drivers for the correct variant)

Hello.
I am new to the use of iSCSI on ESXi so I may have a few questions already answered. Sorry for that.
Is it true that ESXi 4.1 supports iSCSI unloading, while ESXi 4.0 does not work?
How to set up properly? I have a Dell R510 with an Quadport Broadcom NetXtreme II 5709.
I like to use two network of 5709 with links LACP ports to connect to my iSCSI target (QNAP).
I found a few messages about creating two vSwitches which each card of a network and mapping the vSwitch (vmkx) to the vmhbaXX (esxcli swiscsi nic add - n vmk1 vmhba35 - d).
What is the right way? How to set up link aggregation then?
This is what it looks like:
Thank you
Michael
