Broadcom NetXtreme 5720 firmware upgrade path

Hello

I'm new to the forum.

I am trying to upgrade the drivers and firmware for the NICs Broadcom in a PowerEdge R820 vSphere ESXi 6 running. I have no problem finding drivers because they are provided by VMware.

About the firmware, it is currently firmware version 7.2 and I want to go to version 7.12, but looking at Dell's Support page I can't find the way to full upgrade (7.12 release notes recommend that 7.5.8 installed, but I can't find a link to this version (, or any earlier version).

Can you please help me find all upgrade packages in chronological order of 2012 so far?

Thank you

  • IDRAC6 upgrade path

I am temporarily caring for a Dell PowerEdge T610 purchased in 2012.  Our outsourced IT Department walked me through some maintenance tasks, including required launches a Virtual Console through iDRAC6. Apparently my iDRAC6 version (V1.80) is so old, no modern browser it supports fully. What I have for the most part works with Chrome and FireFox, not IE (but it's OK - I don't work with IE either).

I am trying to determine if a firmware upgrade path exists for my hardware, and if so, what are the steps. None of my research on the Dell Web site have meaningful results. Since my system is no longer under warranty I don't get a lot of help by telephone, and "cat" is denied for me as well.

If anyone can point me to a good place to get started which would be a great help.  Thank you!

    Hello.

See the upgrade below. First apply the BIOS, then the respective DRAC6 firmware.

    6.2.3 BIOS iDRAC6 v1.92

    BIOS 6.3.0 iDRAC6 v1.95

    BIOS 6.4.0 iDRAC6 v1.97, iDRAC6 v1.99 , and iDRAC6 v2.8.0

The path of update will prevent iDRAC communication and other server issues.

  • path of the firmware upgrade

Hi, I need go to the latest version 6.0.2.

What is the best path to take

    TIA

    Hello

FYI: The upgrade path is in the instructions to upgrade the firmware with the firmware version, to which you want to upgrade.

6.0.2-> 7.1.11->-> 9.0 8.1.4.   Not all type of controller supports 8.x or 9.x.  What model table do you currently have?

You will need to restart after each upgrade before loading the next version.

    If you are running VMware ESX/ESXi, you'll want to take a failure at least the first upgrade.  There is a problem with FW< 6.0.6-h2="" that="" can="" result="" is="" vmfs="" datastore="" corruption.=""  it's="" rare="" but="" shutting="" down="" prior="" to="" the="" upgrade="" would="" 100%="" prevent="">

Saw how the measures it will take, make a maintenance window is a good idea.

  • Dell Optiplex 745 with Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller with Windows 7 x 64 host cannot fill network

All, I am new to the forum but have been reading up on top of a problem that had led me into a wall.

I'm trying to create a development environment that uses VMWare Workstation 7.0.1 (and I tried with 7.0.0 before, leading me to)

update in the hope of a quick solution) as a development of imaging and the test bench.  The system is a Dell Optiplex 745, upgraded to 8 GB of

RAM.  Unfortunately, it seems that the biggest problem is the network card.

I tried several different operating systems, and all DHCP requests are found in the AUTOMATIC private IP addressing.  This is even after I implemented a custom adapter (VMNet2) that fills explicitly to this network card problem.  I disabled VMNet0 and all because this dish was not working.  I have read some relevant

messages, but nothing seems to help.  This included the http://communities.vmware.com/message/675649 and more

positions listed on the registry settings.  I don't know what to do at this point.

So, for those who do not know the Broadcom driver issues, they are apparently many.  It is important to disable the unloading, but

I'm not able to find the settings in the post linked above.  It's quite similar to the OP for this thread.  I'm not

know if it's a difference of conductor between the 32-bit and 64-bit implementations.  So, I updated from the version of the driver

12.2.2.1 (b57nd60a.sys) of 10.100.0.0 (I think, can not driver rollback now to check because I need to work on VMS for urgent

projects as soon as POSSIBLE).  So, as I said, I was unable to find the parameters of this post

    ()http://communities.vmware.com/thread/191085) mentioned below:

    • Large Send Offload (IPv4)

    • Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4)

    • Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6)

What I found were these parameters:

    • Flow control (Auto, I tried to disable)

    • Priority and VLAN (priority & VLAN enabled; I tried priority and VLAN disabled)

    • Speed and Duplex (Knew better than to mess around here, has made the problems in the past, retired to Auto)

    • VLAN ID (always 0)

    • Wake Up Capabilities (Magic Packey; no one tried)

    • Unloading ARP (Enable; I tried to disable)

    • NS unloading (Enable; I tried to disable)

I tried enabling / disabling all, specially those mentioning the unloading, all day without success.  This did not help.

Later, I tried to add DontAddDefaultGateway, EnabledRSS and DisableTaskOffload keys to my CurrentControlSet on the

host.  For some reason any DisableTaskOffload shows in the regedit, GUI, not the export of text.  Don't know what this means, and I'm too

tired of care at this point.

  • BDX4350KB Wifi adapter and firmware upgrade doesn't work do not

It is a sequel to my earlier question about if the WLM-20U2 Wifi adapter will work in my blu - ray player.

After buying the adapter I plugged it and a message 'not supported', if I tried to connect wireless it says there was no an adapter connected.

So I assumed that this necessary upgrade, so I formatted a 1 Gb USB drive with the FAT file system, downloaded the file level (version 39 http://www.dl.toshiba.com/player/NA/GB/EN/BDX4350KB.html) and copied the file .bin on the USB.

When I plugged into the player and said to check the disk for a file to update it tells me that "frontend file is not found"... There was only one file to download, and it wasn't in a folder so I guess I'm supposed to just copy that file on the USB drive.

I checked the USB port with a memory stick with photos on and it works fine.

How to get the upgrade to work in the hope that it will enable the wifi adapter to work?

  • 200 d IOmega IX4 Firmware upgrade failure

    Hello

I have an IX4 - 200 d which I inherited. Initially, it wouldn't boot and display only the symbols of USB stick/network after about 60 seconds.

With some searching on Google, I created a boot disk USB with the firmware updated on this issue. All goes well until the Firmware upgrade begins. I go to the step of (what I assume is) the upgrade of the firmware and it gets 75%, hold for 5 seconds and then the machine stops.

I tried to repeat the update of the firmware with all the drives present, with every other drive in the first slot and with all the disconnected drives. But it seems to behave in the same way.

Is this a known issue? Or could it be a hardware failure?

I'm pretty eager to find a solution - it takes a long time for me to accept defeat.

The only other suggestion that suggested Dr. Google is to start linux and reformat the hard drive?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi André,.

    This case can be closed.

After the above mentioned procedure eventually work, I didn't know that - ALL readers should be present and formatted during an attempt of USB firmware update / install.

The link again on the forum - http://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4401

This seems to be the only solution.

  • Impossible to reinstall XP, error «...» Windows is not a supported upgrade path"

Computer is 2001 Sony Vaio apparently infected Office who knows what, if I want to do a clean install of the operating system. The computer came with Windows ME and a drive to upgrade to XP. 5 years, a technician thought he was doing me a favor and installed without my knowledge its own XP Pro.

I tried to do an installation of my upgrade XP disc but I get this message: Setup is impossible to pass your current installation of Windows XP. Your current Windows installation is not a supported upgrade path. Setup cannot continue.

I also tried to use the Sony system recovery CD, but it does not work.

    Help!

    Hi IAMSOBZ,

As you install the operating system from a CD to upgrade it you will be asked for support of qualification, you can insert your Windows Millennium Edition or any CD which is an edition less than Windows XP Professional.

Important: You will need to have a CD of Windows 98/Me/2000 eligible to insert if you are using a version update of XP to clean install. OEM restore disks will not usually fill the eligibility standard. If the restore disc i386 folder, it will work normally.

    a. start your computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM. To do this, insert the Windows XP CD into your CD or DVD and then reboot your computer.

Note: To boot from the Windows XP CD, your computer BIOS settings must be configured to do this.

    b. When you see the message "Press any key to boot from CD", press any key to start the computer from the Windows XP CD.

    c. once the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to start Windows XP Setup.

    d. read the Microsoft software license agreement and press F8.

    e. Setup will scan for previous Windows installations

    f. you will need to replace the CD of XP with your qualifying CD; XP Setup will scan the qualifying CD and ask you to replace it with the XP CD to continue installing XP.

    g. complete the installation

  • Jump and mix tracks after firmware upgrade?

I can't explain it. Since the latest firmware upgrade Fuze my wife started jumping titles (for example jump to the next song to halfway through the current), but a funniest part - he mixes parts of files. We can listen to a song, and then all of a sudden he would be interrupted by 1 second of a file from a different album and then come back to play the first song from the point it was interrupted. What gives?

Me that was too much.  I downloaded all my music back and reset my Fuze and reformatted it.

Charge of excessive songs and back on went.

  • BEFW11S4 v.4 and Vista - firmware upgrade failure

    Hello

I've had this router for about 5 years, it runs with XP without any problem. Since I got a new laptop with Vista, the wireless connects for an hour or two, and then falls back and I have to unplug the router for five seconds, then reconnect to reconnect (my other laptop with XP has not this problem).

I understand that there is compatibility between the BEFW11S4 v. 4 and Vista problems so I tried to update the firmware of dartybox.com and kept getting a message that failed. I hard rebooted the router but button of restart 30 seconds and the upgrade has always failed. I so re-set to factory settings through the online admin to the router, re-uploaded the implementation level and still got the emssage failed (I am sure that the model number & version is correct and I download the appropriate firmware upgrade).

Is there anything else I can do another one) buy a new router; (b) living with school drop-outs; (c) remove Vista and go back to XP?

    Thank you

    Bigdank

Genius! I have changed the name of code.bin, went to the admin > tab upgrade firmware and the upgrade file. I had a wireless without interruption ever since, even after the awakening of the laptop to sleep.

    Thanks for your help

  • BEFSR81 Firmware Upgrade Gone Bad?

Just putchased a new BEFSR81 router.  Using the installation CD, I got it Setup and works very well.  Then, I went to the support of Linksys and found page a more recent version of the firmware.  My version is 2.51.4.  I downloaded the 2.51.4.6 version and installed. I made sure to choose the version for my model 3.1. He appeared to install OK, because I got the message that it was for the page in 5 seconds.  Now I can't go to the web-based configuration page.  I can ping 192.168.1.1 and get a normal response, but by entering that address in my browser just times out.  I turned off the router and even held the reset for 30 seconds, but don't can't go in the web-based configuration page.

This router is now watered?  Do I need to send it back?

Thanks for any help on this.

  • The Linksys BEFSR41 V2 Firmware upgrade help

I can't open the MacBinary (.bin) files that I downloaded from linksys, in order to update my firmware. I used my utility to archive, Stuffit Expander Mac and BetterZip, and so far none of them opens the file. Anyone have the firmware upgrade in a different format or advice on how to solve my problem.

Do not touch the file you downloaded. The only software that uses it is your browser.

You must open the web interface of the router at http://192.168.1.1/ and then use the upgrade of the firmware here.

I don't know if the demo user interface is always up to date, but if it is as you should find it on the help page. See here. Click Update Firmware. Then, press the Browse button and select the .bin file that you downloaded. Then press upgrade and the browser will download the file on the router.

  • WRT 160NL firmware upgrade ever end!

    Hello

I am trying to upgrade the firmware version 1.00.01 B15 to 1.00.01 17 (the only one available on the linksys Web site). It is not allowed to turn it off or reset it. However, the upgrade progress stopped at 98% and never ending so far. Should I wait longer (another day)? Or I can just reset/power off of the it?

Attached is a snapshot of the screen for reference.

    Thank you.

The firmware upgrade process must be complete...

Try the following steps... Press and hold the button of reset for 60 seconds... Release the reset button and unplug
the power cable from your router, after only 30 seconds reconnect the power cable...

Now, as do the settings of the browser on the computer... Open an IE, click Tools > Internet Options, and then delete all files, cookies, history, forms... GoTo 'Connections', make sure never Dial
a connection is checked, click on network settings and make sure that all the options are unchecked... Once you are finished, click OK... Close IE and reopen...

Now, try to upgrade your router firmware... it should work!

  • WRT610N firmware upgrade question

I have a simple question about the firmware upgrade.  I want to know if it's OK when the upgrade of the firmware on a wireless router for rather than press reset and rest for 30 seconds, that I connect with my browser and 'load Factory Deaults?

I read, where they are supposed to do the thing of the SME and the method of web browser is much easier worth me.

Can anyone confirm this or should I press the button to reset for 30 seconds?

    see you soon

It is advisable to reset the router after the upgrade of the firmware. For once you upgrade the firmware on the router... Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now, you can re - configure your router.

  • After restart of the firmware upgrade

Hi, I need to update the firmware on my controllers PS6100 EqualLogic.

I found the instructions on how to do it and everything seems straight forward to do so via the GUI.

I noticed there is a necessary restart after the firmware has been applied. Does this mean I have to gracefully shutdown the virtual machines running on my SAN LUNS? My iSCSI connections will be closed/broken during the restart of the post firmware upgrade?

    Thank you, Oliver.

    Hello Oliver,.

In the same area download notes firmware and release is another PDF, entitled ' iSCSI initiator and optimize your SAN environment for high availability operating system considerations ", which includes some key parameters that will allow your computers virtual and servers through the failover time.  It is important that not only the Firmware update, but in the case of an unexpected failure due to a failure of CM.

More if you use VMware ESXi, there is a best practices PDF for that as well.  In addition to better manage the failover, these changes have shown to improve performance as well.

The Tech report TR1091 is available here:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/Extras/m/white_papers/20434601/download

Changes for Windows and the knots of ESXi virtual machines will require a reboot to take effect.

What version of firmware you are at, and what version you are migrating towards?

Other things I always propose updates is to ensure that both controllers are plugged in your switch and in the VLAN correct.  Since assets CM are failed over to the passive, support gets much advertising is unable to access the storage after firmware update.  Or ports of the day before were not in the VLAN correct, or individuals with disabilities, etc...

It is for these reasons that personally I prefer to do the updates via the serial port CLI.   The process is more talkative, and if something should go wrong, you need the serial port of some sort.   Since the installation and tested in advance is a huge time saver.   Here, we use serial mux so that all array controllers are easily accessible.

    Kind regards

    Don
