Broken HD Satellite L850-1PD

My hard drive is broken, how can I install a new OS on the new hard drive? Windows setup does not start because I start with my optical drive cd/dvd! I tried to install Ubuntu on another hard drive and there is no problem. The problem is only to try installing windows. Can someone help me? Tank you

Geminy salvation,
make sure that you:

(1) replace the hard disk broke to a new one that works very well

(2) tried to install linux Ubuntu using your optical DVD drive and the installation succeeded (or you just try start the LiveDVD and unfinished system installation on HARD drive)?

(3) put the Windows installation media in your DVD player and - what is happening? It does not start from the DVD drive, it does not start the installation of windows, it does not see the HARD disk drive and said there is no room to install... What is the windows installer raport any problems? You can see all the messages? If it restarts by itself?

What version of windows you are trying to install? Is this the same version that you had on your laptop before the HARD drive crashed?

Is the new mechanical-drive hard drive hard or type electronic SSD?

Possible problems are: the BIOS settings (UEFI / MSC mode, secure boot option and so on), with the SATA HDD drivers (AHCI / compatibility...) or maybe simply you have installed Ubuntu on HDD and windows has now no space to fit it, or that he sees any space because it is EXT4/XFS formatted by linux. There also many other possibilities, so please give as much information as possible.

Best regards
P.

  • Satellite L850-1PD increases sharpness disappear after disconecting AC adapter

    Hello everyone.

I had a problem with my Satellite L850.
When my laptop is running, he has increased sharpness, and after the pulling power plug and reinsert the sharpness has become normal. What is a problem

Reinstalled PS more recent amd drivers did not help.

    Advice or suggestions please?

What do you exactly mean by increased sharpness?
Have you noticed this problem during the start-up of the device; for example in the BIOS?
It is not using the power of the battery only?
The same problem is seen on the external monitor?

I'm not quite sure, but from my point of view of the rare if everything is displayed properly on the external monitor, then the graphics card driver as well as the graphic card isn t the problem

    Your comments would be appreciated!

  • Satellite L850-1PD - question battery compatibility

    Hello.

My battery is really bad and I would like to buy a new one. I took a glance at the Web of Toshiba site and in the battery section I found the battery with it (* PA5110U-1BRS *) reference number is compatible with my laptop.

The problem is my laptop battery has this (* PA5024U-1BRS *) reference number which is different from the one above.

I would like to know if this battery is really compatible with mine and if not, what batteries (part number) are?

    Thank you.

    PA5110U-1BRS

I found the Toshiba site containing information on the PA5110U-1BRS battery as well as the PA5024U-1BRS battery.
    http://www.Toshiba.com/us/accessories/power/batteries/PA5110U-1BRS

PA5110U-1BRS is certainly compatible with the L850 Satellite as well as other models of laptops and in addition the Web site offers this note:

This battery has the same compatibility as the primary Li Ion battery (manufacturer: PA5024U-1BRS, 48Wh) which was delivered with some laptops. This is the direct replacement for Toshiba primary 6-Cell Li Ion battery (manufacturer: PA5025U-1BRS)

I think that now everything should be pretty clear :-)

  • Display on Satellite L850-1PD - no warranty case problem?

    _Old year_
I contacted Toshiba web support December 5, 2013.
On 9 December, I received an email from an official assistance centre who asked me to send him a picture of the screen.
After that, I sent this picture what they told me to send my phone to their lab (EDP INFOSERVICE).

The 18 that I get an email where they informed me that a DHL courier will pick up the laptop and I need to print a transport document was attached to the email sent.

Couldn't open all the files attached to emails, I asked to postpone the withdrawal of the computer one day by paying the call and mail 19 without document: so he gave me a hand written document.

20, the lab received my notebook and the same day, she sent Toshiba a "request for information".

On 27 December, I received a call from the lab who informed me that the problem on the screen was not in the warranty because it was caused by pressure on the screen.

I told him that this was not possible because no one else had done that and the screen
does not have any signs. He told me he was certain about it, but Toshiba claims that the defect is due to my responsibility, if it is not covered in the warranty.
She asked me if I would estimate the cost of repairs and I agreed.

I called Toshiba support to a number of special phone for a price and I asked how could solve the problem, for example sending a request, but the operator told me that he could not not nothing.

Yet once, I paid for nothing.

So, if you have a problem with the assumption you don't speak with someone!

    _New year: _
January 3, I received the estimate to repair the monitor: 540,58; and if I decide not to repair I must to pay 42.70 euros.

    It's madness!

first: the monitor is not broken for my responsibility.
    Second: the cost of my laptop was 650 and only for the screen they asked 540;
Third: I have to pay for the diagnosis (42.70 euro) when they have already done this for Toshiba and not told me it was for expenses.
Fourth: the inconvenience for the expedition.
Fifth: spend a lot of time and not benefi t from warranty.
Sixth: cannot send a claim to Toshiba (I called and paid support).
Seventh: is a Toshiba official service center, where is the professionalism? You have told me the cost before doing something.

I've never been in as bad situation with an assistance service.
I bought a different brand and brand and I used the support of H.P., Hanns-g and Goodmans. I've never been dissatisfied.

Now I want to return my laptop without spending more money and I don't want to not ever heard the name of Toshiba.

I'm not offering my clients in the future buy Toshiba products (if you use them to work)
The fault of the screen is brighter than the surroundings of small surface (5 mm).

    Excuse me if I'm mad.
    Another brand of computer.
    Yours sincerely.

    Sorry for my bad English

  • Two dead in Kingston SSD on Satellite L850-1PD

I replaced my mechanical hard drive with a Kingston SSD and after two months the drive just stopped working. I found my money and bought another Kingston SSD on another provider. After a few months the new drive has stopped working again. I'm on the process to replace it with a new, however, at this point, I think that there is something wrong with the laptop causing drives to fail.

If more details are needed, I can give them.
    Thank you.

I put t think the problem might be related to the laptop.
Why mobile should break up the SSDS and how?
I mean the SSD drive is connected to the SATA controller and that s it!

What you need to do is to check and change some system settings
You could disable scheduled disk defragmentation
Disk Defrag is useful for spinning commune HDD which have moving parts, but not for the SSD drive!

You must also disable indexing. Indexing is a Windows service that aims to speed up the search Windows. Indexing service automatically keeps track of the files that makes faster searching of files.
But the fact is that indexing Windows makes several small write operations and this could decrease the life SSD.

Last but not least make sure TRIM support is enabled and you could disable, move, or shrink the file of the page

    Hello

Since when did you notice this problem? I can't imagine that it occurs on the first day.
In the specifications, I found the info that this machine has been preloaded with Win7 64 bit. Everything is OK with the factory settings was after the first start?

Easy solution? Everybody wants it but the problem is that on this virtual way in most cases we can only speculate what may be the problem.

  • Satellite L850-Y3110 - Question about the international warranty

I bought a portable Satellite L850-Y3110 in India that has an international warranty.
There is a problem with it now, it's the cd drive is broken and I took it to an authorized to Newcastle service center.

Need the driver cd to replace, but now Im says that Toshiba usually give the cause of the part I did not but he to the United Kingdom, and the person told me to go back to the place where I bought and the fix here, I won't go there any time soon, so it's out of the option.

My question is what is the point of the international interest if it won't be such an inconvenience.

When I bought a laptop that I wanted one that would guarantee internationally because Im student out of the country for education, that's why I bought this one because it has international warranty and my laptop is still under warranty international.

    What should I do now?

    Hello

I m not very well on portable computers sold in India, but cell phones sold in Europe are covered with at least 1 year standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/services/standard-warranty/

This warranty does not cover repairs in other countries, but in case of hardware malfunction, you must visit the authorized service provider in the country where you made the purchase.

To get the international warranty coverage you must buy an extended international warranty: details here http://www.toshiba.eu/services/warranty-extension/

In the case where the international interest has been registered for your laptop, the ASP to the United Kingdom should be able to repair the laptop in international warranty conditions.

  • Satellite L850-117 - support SATA III

I have a plan to change my old hard drive with the new SATA III SSD.

I searched Toshiba homepage on spec if it supports SATA III, but it is very difficult to find this kind of information. If I understand correctly, we must support SATA III for the full implementation of the DSS.

The laptop is Toshiba Satellite l850-117, Sandy Bridge (32nm Technology), by Googling it I found a few answers that if I have a Sandy Bridge, I also have SATA III support.

From the BIOS I can only change 'best performance' or 'better life' for HDD/SDD, nothing on the SATA versions.

It's the best spec I found so far

I have USB 3.0 support, I guess that's a good sign, but I want to make sure I get full performance out of it, if spending a lot of money on large SSD.

Can someone give me an advice?

+ The message was edited: broken link has been removed.

    Hello

Why you n t install some diagnostic tools material like Everest Home Edition or another tool like SENECA Sisoft.
The two would be able to provide all the details and all information about the properties of material and pieces of equipment.

The L850 series is equipped with different material parts, but usually the ODD controller and the HARD drive is connected to the chipset (Port of Cougar / Panther point) and the chipset is connected to the processor (Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge)

However, in my view and from my own experience, the SATA ODD interface would support 150Mbyte/s max. I don't know about the HARD m drive but I guess it could be 300Mbyte/s (SATA II)

But please share the results provided by one of the tools mentioned.

    Hello

    I'm helping a friend with a problem with its Satellite L850 - 1 5.

No battery detected is report to Windows, and the light on the front of the machine of battery flashes orange slowly.

I saw a few forums suggesting removing the power and the battery and holding down the button for 30 seconds. I tried a few times and seems not to have had any effect.

    Thank you

  • Support for Satellite L850

    Hello
    Model Satellite L850-Y3110(PSKFWG-00F00C)
my laptop specs are i73630QM with 8 GB DDR3 Ramand Raedon HD7670M graphic 2 GB in 64-bit Windows 10 pro. When I bought it was installed with Win8.1 later I manuallyt updated to Win10.Everything was beautiful graphic is also correct.

Toshiba Web site, I found that my laptop is not up-dimmable to Windows 10. In any case I've updated and it has not come back.
So my drivers are now automatically updated with windows.

But to find the drivers from the Web site of my OEM I checked the Web sites of all the toshiba. But most of them does not recognize my model except this website.
In this site as I'm not getting all the drivers of Windows8.1.Only drivers for Windows 7 is available.

    (1) I would like to know where I can get these drivers. (Win 8.1)?

Please check with my model number before answering because I spent several days for this. Once again tOshiba-India Web site provides only drivers update of the bios for my version.
    (2) so I would know if the drivers of the other model L850 are compatible with my knees?

Now, I will come to the real problem.
IntelWeb site I am aware that my laptop's integrated graphics intel HD4000.
    (3) so, where is it?
But nowhere in my laptop I see this display adapter. I looked in the bios also to see if it is disabled in the bios.
And I found that there is no tab in the bios about the display/graphics.

I tried all the latest drivers from intel for HD4000 and AMD for Redon7670M pilots.
Installing the driver from intel whenever the installer fails. Add device method results in adapter intel HD does not not in the Panel.

    (4) how can I enable (if present) integrated graphics intel HD4000?

    Why I wanted this?
WiDi/Miracast is supported with IntelHD4000 (projecting to another screen)
    Mutiple views are possible.
Fast Sync can be enabled. Which allows a fast encoding of videos
    Switchable graphics can be activated.

Some advised me to try the modded bios.
but it may result in bricking of your device. These website I found that someone has enabled graphics options built into the bios with bios modded for my model. As this file is no longer available for download, I'm here.

  • Satellite L850-E8S - shutdown problems

    Hello everyone

I bought Toshiba Satellite L850-E8S with Windows 8.0 (for a single language) preinstalled in October 2013. At the moment I can't get stop normally.

Question: * pressing Shutdown (stop) of charms goes up "Windows is shutting down" and after that the screen turns off but power light is lit and the fan keeps operate.* I stop it by pressing the power button, I really want to quit smoking. (Once I didn't notice that and put the laptop in a bag for a few hours and it of a miracle that no equipment would have been burnt, despite the laptop was hot like the Sun) * the problem started after a month of use, and I didn't think her yet.*

First of all, I thought that the case concerns him * hybrid Shutdown in the Win8. I have visited many forums dedicated for hybrid stop, proven fruitless discussions. *! AND! I had the same problem on my laptop with a slight difference - loading Win7 and Linux * the monitor stays on (with the lights and the fan on either). *
Moreover, I also saw a BSOD after a day I bought the laptop. This problem concerned Realtek Audio driver and SRS Premium sound. As I understood the question is drivers conflict. Right now I have no installed Audio SRS premium and see no BSOD, but Realtek audio driver is not stable: the sound either begins to work in a few minutes after starting windows or it does'nt work at all.

First of all, I wish really that someone to help me with the shutdown problem. All tips are welcome.
