Broken Lightroom import

Lightroom on windows 8.1 on a processor Intel NUC 5.7.1.

I used Lightroom 3 years and never had problems. All of a sudden, I can't import all of the images.

1. start LR,

2. click on import, wait and wait and after exactly 1 minute, the import dialog box appears with a spinning wait cursor.

It's like that. I can't import, none of the controls is sensitive and I can not yet close the import dialog box. When I kill Lightroom using the Task Manager it leaves the locked catalog and I need to reboot the machine.

Other things that might be relevant:

1. If I unplug the USB of Logitech Unifying receiver, it kind of gets and I can use it somehow, but it is very slow. Obviously I can't use it without a keyboard and a mouse, so leave unplugged is not a solution.

2. the only other usb device is a tv, but unlugging tuner, which makes no difference, and it used to work with the tv plugged in all cases.

3. to start LR, if I try to do something, whereas the Crystal splash screen appears, I SOMETIMES get a message saying "waiting for the server to respond" or similar. If I click try again, and then it starts normally. Start is displayed for about 30 seconds, which seems as long as I remember it being.

This is really a problem for me and I'd appreciate any help. I'm using Capture One, but LR is still my favorite library, if it is possible to work again.

The problem has proved to be a micro sd converter standard sd card, I left on a USB. I had forgotten about it and would have assumed it was a 'passive' device anyway, but removing it solved the problem.

The latest version of Lightroom is CC 2015.3. LR CC 2015 is out for about 9 months with 5 updates, 1, 1.1,.2,. 2.1 and maintenant.3.

Clearly, you have not a newer version. In fact, you're 6 behind, communicated LR 5.7.1 and 5 that I posted above.

  • I use Lightroom CC and one of my cameras is a Canon SX-50HS. Why Lightroom importing crop images? It does not perform this task for any image created on other devices.

Automatically import the cultures these images, Yes to develop I can uncrop them but I would have preferred that the images come shot.

You can set this camera to various Image Ratio - 1:1, 5:4, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9

You set your ratio desired for JPG images.

Lightroom imports the image of full 4000 x 3000 sensor size (4:3) and applies to the culture according to 'Camera' Image ratio (16:9, perhaps).

Set camera Image ratio 4:3 in the menu of the camera and you have the problem of harvest.

  • problems with Lightroom import

Once I open the window 'Import' in Lightroom and select the device in the same folder on a hard drive, nothing happens. Usually, it is in the preview of images should appear. I tried several cards with different card readers, still nothing. Can someone help me with this?

  • If Lightroom import parameters of the disc or replace the disc of the catalog settings

When the 'up' arrow key appears in a thumbnail and comes up with the message:

The metadata for one or more of these photos has been changed by another application. Lightroom import settings from disk or replace drive with the catalog settings?

What exactly means?  This seems to happen every time I have to export an image in PS (CS5) and back to LR.  What has changed exactly?  Which settings are imported if I choose "import settings from disk."

I think it would be best to not think in terms of what LR 'applies' changes. Because LR stores the changes made in the catalog, the changes are "applied" to the image on export. I think that it would be preferable to use the term 'view' instead of 'apply '.

Then: when LR, you open a RAW image in PS the LR-changes made until then are displayed in PS and then "apply" when you save a PS (don't forget PS CS5 opens the RAW image).

If you do more edits in PS and save these, LR will display these changes - you will then notice on back of the PS, LR will be re - load the image. On 'Save' PS applies (and here the term 'applicable' is correct) the changes by writing them in the image file. LR reads the saved file and displays it with PS-changes.

But the LR catalog settings are still in the State of the point in time before you open the image in PS. It is so because PS writes the changes to the image file and not in the LR catalog. So now you have a set of changes in the LR catalog and another set of changes in the image file.

To describe it as ' a little 'too top' with the PS applied, changes but it really has not applied the "isn't making the case because LR 'applies' only to export. LR doing at this stage is read the image with PS-changes file and display the image accordingly.

But LR "feels" that what is displayed is not what is in the catalog online.

This is the conflict that Lr wants to solve by popping the message.

You say "if so, then you really would like to import settings from disk so that the file will be PS changes, right?  "

Yes, if you wish that your changes-PS to replace your previous changes LR.

Now, I came to where I do not fixtures in PS that I can do in LR - and I do not fixtures in LR that PS is preferable to a workflow.

In practice: in PS, I do the cloning and also noise reduction when the LR - NR is not enough (for example in the noisy analyses).

I don't do any tonal or color adjustments to the PS because it is easier in Lr and gives me better results.

When the message appears, select 'Replace disk settings' - it keeps all Lr changes and does not overwrite the cloning.

  • Irretrievably broken Lightroom - move to Capture One?

I had six months of lightroom crashes and zero bugs. Now I can't even use it to capture images of a new RX10iii from SONY.

Fortunately, sony provided a free version of Phase One Capture One that works very well. I have seven years of images in Lightroom, but I see that Capture it will import the Lightroom files.

SHOULD I REALLY GIVE TO THE TOP ON THIS PROGRAM IN PHASE TERMINALE BROKEN? It's a great program, I remember when it worked...

Try to fix breakers code you wrote... There is no reason for a user to put up with this mess.

Thanks for the link dynamiclinkmanager. After almost 6 months of work with Adobe engineers, I have a solution. I removed the link dynamics and problems Manager preferences went. I upgraded to lightroom 6.6.

Maddening even how long I spent with technicians and none ever looked at crash logs 0 just my system. Even the solution to the problem has multiple users to make suggestions. This is an easy solution - the fact that person at Adobe never found it is scary.

I had been looking for messages from the forum on the link manager but has used his app name which is three words scramble.

    Thank you!

  • Lightroom Import issues with update

I'm trying to import into LR.  He began the process but never finished.  Import gets about a quarter of the way through then never complete.  It has been sitting in the same place for several hours.  I tried 4 times.  A few times I had to "Force quit" Lightroom.

I did the last update CC and done all the usual troubleshooting.  Computer restarted etc...

I use a Mac more old which is not compatible with the update of the Sierra.  I'm afraid that's the question that nothing has changed since my last import.

Starting from which you import the files? Camera? Card? Disc? HARD DRIVE?

Are you able to try another method? Card reader cable

Are you able to transfer the images to your hard drive via drag and drop in the Finder?

If so, what happens when you try to import from there?

Normally, I import from my CF flash card and choose a folder target on my external hard drive to destination.

I begin each new job with a new catalog.

But just recently, the destination on the right folder option disappeared.

    Someone know why?

    Hi nigelv,.

You must select the option 'Add' in the main menu, please select move or copy to select the destination folder in the import window.

    See the screenshot below.

    Hope that helps.

  • Lightroom import does not all images

I'm trying to import 2554 photos in Lightroom to a wedding that I shot yesterday. I created a new catalog and went to import photos, however in the upper right of the import screen it says there is no 2131 photos to import. I've never had this problem before. He images are off 2 cameras and some are JPEGs and some are high heat, I don't know if this is the problem? All images are in the destination folder, it's when I import them I seem to lose more than 400 images. Anyone can shed some light?

In Preferences > general, make sure JPGs to treat raw as separate photos next to files is checked.

  • Issues of Lightroom import of cr2 files

Recently, we went on vacation to Europe where I downloaded a cr2 file folder on my laptop of cousins in lightroom. I've never played change them but I export them on my hard drive. I am now trying to import them into lightroom on my laptop and lightroom tells me there is no file to show but there are all appearing in the shadows in the background, everything is not accessible. Any ideas on how to solve this problem by any chance? Cheers Chris

This means that photos have already been imported into Lightroom, and there is no need to import them again. Just go in the library Module, find pictures and use them in any way you want (editing, printing, electronic mail, etc.)

  • Lightroom import my photos.

    Screenshot 2016-07-10 08.20.05.png

After years and 100000 of of the images imported into Lightroom, he ceased to import my photos (for my macbook pro) yesterday. I insert my lexar SD card, lightroom responds by locating the map (Nikon D600) as usual, but no thumb does not appear, and "import" is not an option-just "Cancel".  Images can be imported to my selection, so I know they're there, but lightroom usually accept if I drag them over to Lightroom from dropbox or office either.  There is no error message.  I guess the solution is a simple click somewhere, but I don't know where - help someone?

Right-click on 'Change file name' and make sure that Destination is selected and developed as Geoff said, that a valid destination directory is selected.

  • Forget previous folder Lightroom import

I have Lightroom CC (2015.6) class. Previously, if I imported into a particular folder, say/Users/fred/Pictures/lightroom (on mac), Lightroom would remember this folder so that the next import would be, by default, in the same folder. But in the last 3 months, the behavior of Lightroom changed so that the default folder every time it's the hard drive (the file system root, ' / '), not the file I imported last to. This seems to be a new bug. I prefer much the old behavior.

The previous destination folder is always selected, it's just that the folder hierarchy has been reduced:

Adobe has recognized the problem in the official Adobe feedback forum and said it will be fixed in the next version: 2015.6 Lightroom: Update can't remember the last target directory | Community customer Photoshop family

on Library before importing is fine. But after pressing "develop", there change my picture to have a weird filter as follows.

I already reset the settings, but also install and uninstall my program!

My images. Some are raw, some are not, but for all the images, I clicked, he always has my pictures like that!

    pls help!

    pls see images.

    When importing:

    After clicking on develop

Go in Edition > Preferences > Performance and uncheck use GPU - the image should then display correctly.

You can also try to update the graphics driver and then try turning on the graphics processor.

If this does not help, just leave it turned off.
