Burn CD question - cannot burn or remove "files ready to be written to disk.

I'm burning a Word doc big enough for a new CD - R (90 MG, thesis w/graphics).  The file has been hung up.  I can't delete it in 'ready to write to disk files.  And it will not burn the disk.  I know it will fit on the disc, as it was recorded on another CD of origin.  It is a brand new CD.  I have closed several times, but cannot get the memory file.  He acknowledges that he is waiting to burn, but does not burn and will not erase.  Appreciate any ideas, have already spent 4 hours trying to make it work.  Also tried troubleshooting of Windows, but he did not find any problem with the player.  Thank you.

I was able to delete the files from the memory by running CHKDSK (check c: drive to find errors).  After running CHKDSK, I was able to remove the temporary files.  I was then able to successfully copy file on the cd.  Thank God... six hours to copy a file, sheesh!

    I have Windows 7 Home edition 64-bit, with a combination CD/DVD drive.

I suggest you copy the folder that is located in the section "Files ready to be written to the disk" in your desktop environment.

Also try C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary Burn folder and delete the folder.

I just got a new computer with Windows 7. My old man's got Windows XP. Why desktop.ini ([.]) ShellClassInfo]

constantly seem to be written to disc (1)?
It is a Vista Home Premium disc I have to run because I need it to work programs are there.  What happens if I write to disck 1, it will change all user settings or what?
I can't replicate these programs, they were down loaded and installed and before the computer was delivered to me the installation files are deleated.  The previous user is dead so no help there.  I can't replace or get its information to download again, I'm very nervous about it.

    Hi Domiles,

Welcome to the Microsoft answers site.

This can happen if you have you drag some files on the CD/DVD. If the data on CD or DVD are important, then I recommend that you back up the data on the other drive and proceed by copying only the files on the disk.

    1. click on start.

    2. click on computer.

    3. click on the CD/DVD drive.

    4. If you have any data, you can delete it.

Let me know if it worked.

How to remove temporary files, waiting to be written to disk when the computer starts?

    Hi Reasman,

Welcome to the Microsoft answers site!

To clear pending files, select the files/folders in the 'Files to add to the CD/DVD' box and press DELETE. However, if you want to delete all files, click the CD/DVD drive and select 'Clear the staging area' from the context menu.

You can manually delete the files that are stored in the following location:

    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning folder

    I hope this helps!

  • Cannot add or remove files and folders to my favorites

Since I transferred my favorites from my old computer to my new computer, I can't add new files in the folders I had, or remove files or files that were in the list.  If I use the option "Organize Favorites" to delete a file, I get a dialog box titled "file Access Denied".

However, I have no trouble to add new folders or files to my favorites.  I also found that I can move the files from the old list of my favorites in a new folder, but to do this, I first get a dialog box titled "File Access Denied", saying: "you will need administrative permission to move this file.  In this box, there is an option to 'continue '.  When I click on 'Continue', I get another dialog box titled 'User Account Control' saying ' you want the following program to make changes to this computer?  When I click on 'Yes', the file is moved to the new folder.  This is all very frustrating.  Hope you have a solution for me.

    I have Windows 7.

    Hello

Looks like your CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc properly.
The drive is faulty or the STRANGE laser lens is dirty

Try to clean the lens of the laser using a fluid tip and alcohol of wadding.
    Then test this new
You can also try to copy these recovery discs using another computer and could finally try to boot from the recovery disc copied.

  • Why my WMP will burn a WAV file as a disk of data, but not as an audio disc?

I have an audio file that began as part of a power point presentation. It is now saved as a WAV file. I have successfully he burned as a data disc, but need the disc is playable in a cd player. When I try to burn as an audio disc, WMP gives me the error message "Windows Media Player cannot open the WAV file."
Why can open and burn the file as data disc, but cannot open the file when I am trying to burn an audio disc?

E length is 11:11, baud rate: 16 Kbps, media type: audio, the file is not protected. I have WMP set to burn at slow speed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

WMP should be able to read the file. But to burn I do not. I never use it for burning.

Audacity is a free software and is a full blown audio editor, where you can change the bitrate by exporting (save as) the fileas, which is required FRO Redbook 16 bit burning.

  • does not burn on iDVD file on disk; something that will convert file .dvdproj?

First of all, I work on a very old iMac:

    Model name: iMac, mid2007

    Model identifier: iMac7, 1

Processor name: Intel Core 2 Duo

    CPU speed: 2 GHz

    Number of processors: 1

    Total number of cores: 2

    L2 Cache: 4 MB

    Memory: 4 GB

The only thing about this that is current is the OS I've just updated to El Capitan.

My problem - I made a slideshow in iDVD (one supplied with the machine; I was surprised he worked at the title of THIS) for a friend, with 148 photos and music. Problem is that I can't burn to a DVD. The process starts, but inevitably iDVD, the computer or whatever, locks and I get the rotation beach ball. So, I have to force quit to get out to it.

I did not know that iDVD is a dead app, is no longer sold or supported. Shame on me. So here I am with a file .dvdproj which I can view easily on my iMac, but can not burn on a DVD for the girl that I did.

Before I turn to iMovie and completely redo all the work, I wonder if there is any way I can use the .dvdproj file I have and either convert it to a more accessible type or import it into iMovie, or...

I know, I know. With a little money and get a new computer and stop trying to do it with Ribbon bandaids adhesive and leads. Laughing out loud

First try following this workflow to help ensure the best DVD video qualty:

Once the project you want it save it as an image disk via the menu file → save as Disk Image . It will separate from the process of encoding of the burning process.

To check coding mount the disk image, launch a DVD player and read it.  If it plays OK with DVD, encoding is good.

Burn burn to disc with utility disk or toasts to the slowest speed (2 x - 4 x) in order to ensure the best quality.  Always use higher quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are recommended in these forums.

As test, create a simple second, iDVD project and try to save as a disk image.  If this goes thru OK then recreate the current project from scratch and try to create a disk image of it.

You have all the materials for moving/video published after their addition to the iDVD project? How much space you have on your startup disk?  With iDVD, you should have a minimum of 20-25 GB of free space.

  • Burn. AVI file on DVD-R Virgin

I created a .avi file I want to burn it to a DVD so that it can be watched on a DVD player.  Essentially, just trying to convert movies to the House that I recorded on a DV tape to DVD format so that it can be monitored via a normal DVD player.  (In case it is relevant, I did the .avi file using a software called MotionDV Studio.  "It's a program that comes with the model of camcorder, Panasonic PV - GS150 Neu.)  However, when I insert a blank Sony DVD-R disc in the DVD drive in my laptop, the player does not seem to recognize that there is a disc in there.

The DVD drive I have is an Optiarc-CDRWDVD CRX890S ATA.  I checked the features of this material on the internet and he must accept DVD-R discs.  I also checked in the device (from the control panel) Manager.  The State of the device indicates that the device is functioning properly.

In the Windows Help and Support window, the theme of 'Format to a CD or DVD' seems to suggest that a dialog box should appear when I insert the blank disc.  However, it is not.

I tried to use Windows Media Player to burn the .avi file but it says there is no disc in the DVD drive, even if the blank DVD-R disc is there.

I also tried to use the Windows Explorer.  I find the .avi file that was on my hard drive, and then you press the "Burn" button while the file has been selected.  At that time, opened the DVD player and a dialog box appears asking to insert the recordable disc.  I inserted the above disc, but there is no other activity of the laptop.

I also tried to buy a new set of DVD-R discs, but met the same problem.

What other steps can I take to burn the .avi on the DVD file?
