Buy from Dell or buy a Costco Dell?

Pricing and try to configure what to buy - office home.  Inspiron 530 or 518.

I tried to figure out not only what to buy but how.  Whenever I have to "build" a system on Dell.com, it comes out a different price.  I get emails from Dell on promotions and coupons, but none of them work on what I want.  For example, the coupon was for Inspiron with Vista 64 bit, and I wanted 32-bit because I know how bad 64 can be.

Costco online offers pre-built Dell systems.  Anyone know about the service?  Would it be the same – through Dell?

  • How to get apps from surcomprimees defragmentation xpsp3, including files of the OS, ie8, etc.. IDE hard drive too small, can't find bigger from Dell.

I've been singing defrag for more space on the hard disk.  Run defrag has many applications/files automatically compressed and a large part of the system does not work (for example: information system, ie8, etc.). Delete as much as I can in "Add/Remove app"

Q? How can I get it back?

You don't have to buy a new drive from Dell, you buy the location of your choice and simply make sure it is the same type of connection (ide / Sata etc.) and the system Bios supports the large disk

  • HELP: I can't support from Dell

I bought a laptop computer to the top-of-the-line Dell M6800 used by Amazon in late December 2015 and find that the Service Dell number was not registered. After many phone calls long at Dell, I tells me that I can't buy an extended warranty so I can't buy even if you support. I am being treated like a criminal because Dell think that this laptop was stolen at Dell and maybe it was. But I bought legitimately and can prove it. The dealer Amazon, located in Chino Hills, California (computers ASN) says that he bought it legitimately also. During my many phone calls to Dell, I told myself that your inventory system shows that this laptop is located at Dell and has never been sold. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem. The dealer won't take this back, Amazon has refused my request, if I call, and I'm almost out of options. As an innocent purchaser, will not be Dell help me to fix this problem so I can get help through Dell? My immediate problem is that my fingerprint reader does not work in Windows 10. He works to save my fingerprints and worked after a reboot hard, but now, after the last DDP Dell update a few days ago, it doesn't quite work. I'm pretty sure I need to uninstall Dell RFP and reinstall the latest version, but there is no apparent way to uninstall this application, at least not without help from Dell. Long term, I am more concerned about more serious problems for which Dell will not help me. Thank you.

  • XPS from Dell with Vista system

I have a XPS from Dell with Vista system.  When the computer enters standby mode, it continues to run and does not respond when you click the mouse or press a key on the keyboard.  I have to turn off the computer and then it takes about 20 minutes before it will start up.  He must analyze the disc and then says windows is not stopped correctly.  So sometimes, I have a blue screen that says that windows has automatically stopped because of an error.

My system is only about 3 weeks.  This just started happening.  I have not installed any new hardware.  Here is a meswsage error I get

Download and install the driver for Windows Vista

This problem was caused by a missing driver for Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft Corporation.

I check new updates, but he says that my cumputer is up-to-date.  Can someone help me please.  It is very irritating that this is happening.

  • I can't activate my Windows XP pre-installed from Dell.

INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY OF REGISTRY WINDOWS XP

I bought my Dell Inspiron 2200 in 2003 online directly from Dell. It came pre-installed with everything and I didn't save anything.  However, now I have to activate it, and although the helpline is to agree that it is a valid key, they can't activiate it because it is not registered.  They also say that I bought XP Pro but I am running XP home - maybe it's because I sent it repaired a couple of times and they are no re-installed the original product.  Note: I bought when living in the United Kingdom and now live in Turkey.  I tried to call the Turkish line of support from Dell, but it says invalid number 00800 353 90002.  Can anyone help? I left the 11 days for activation...

You will probably need to re - install Windows XP.  Unless a recovery Partition is still on your hard drive, you will need to do this using a disc supplied by Dell since it is probably an OEM of Windows version you need to install.   The only source of such a disc would be Dell.  So if you can't get to the phone, try their website.

Your Internet drivers are not part of XP. If you bought the device from Dell, you have other records besides that reinstall drive? I had 3 machines from Dell and they all came with the CD of drivers among others.

  • Invalid product key, even if it is VALID (bought from dell)!

Well, I'm in a very difficult situation. I have a dell system that I purchased from Dell, so I doubt there's no infringement going on and the product key provided is not valid. What happened is I reinstalled Vista I could not install SP1 still cannot, but that is a different problem. I wonder now activate my windows as the product key is not valid. During installation I don't ask me to enter a product key that the DVD reappattage is provided by Dell and I'm sure that everyone is aware that with this product key is "incorporated" in reinstallation dvd. So, what can I do? I contacted Dell they are charging me just to look at the situation.

I can't even enter a product key 'different' (identical to one on the sticker pasted on the dell system) that I had an overheating problem and I can read only about 90% of the key I would type here for evidence but it is not safe. Dell refused to give me my product key, because they don't know what it is.

Is there a way to read the DVD reisntalltion? Oh and I'm stuck in reduced functionality mode, so I can't do much.
    Thanks nadia

Well, FINALLY, everything is square and works very well. Microsoft support charged me 30GBP and Dell 80GBP to just discuss the issue and even less promising a solution. I didn't take the risk in case there was a hardware problem that was not allowing me to install the OS just then use to cause activation tfailure. So I used my warranty of harware and Dell asked to replace my hard drive as windows reappattage gave me errors. They decided to change the motherboard instead, and later, the hard drive at the same time as the processor and the installtion of Vista drive. They were going to change the DVD drive as apparently the noise he made was unusual, but later, they found the player is supposed to make this amount of noise during playback of a disc for my system (XPS M1330 - do not recommend). Incredible to see how little knowledge about their own products.

So finally, the system is fixed, will wait another 2 months and hope activation appears once again, but at least I have SP2 running so I'll be able to leverage windows a little more in reduced functionality mode and not just be able to browse the internet.

So basically if everything fails best bet call your system manufacturer and ask them to run a diagnosis harware find any error and everything to replace! Thanks nadia

  • No response from Dell.

Dell goes out of business?  Seems to decrease the quality of the equipment and the response from the service and customer support is non-existent.  I have an Inspiron keyboard started to fail after only three months (2015).  After a month of going round in circles, it was determined that the keyboard needed replacement, which has been implemented very quickly.  It was March 6, 2015.

March 1, 2016, I contacted Dell again, because the replacement keyboard had begun to EXACTLY in THE SAME WAY as the previous.  Since I was very close to the end of the year with replacement keyboard, I needed to talk to Dell soon.  I received a response on March 2 that I would hear back in BUSINESS a DAY.  Now, it's March 7, my keyboard is more than a year, and nothing has been heard of DELL.  My three additional emails have been totally ignored.  I'm still wondering, how many times has simply DELL a day working?  Once a month?

I live in a House with four computers from DELL.  At this point, there is no chance he will never be a fifth.  Since they replace the defective hardware with more faulty equipment, why would I want anything else?  Because their response time seems to be on the same duration as the Pluto's orbital period, why should I try again?  Now, all I want from Dell is a reference to a source for a replacement keyboard which will in fact continue to work.  Can I at least until the summer solstice?

    We are not happy.

  • Windows backup from Dell datasafe local upward

I recently bought a computer from Dell desktop with windows 7.  One of the first things I did was set up all my settings backup / schedule in Windows.  I used the Windows recommended default settings regarding data is saved and set my backup on external drive WD attached location.  Everything seems to work very well.

That said, this machine has also installed backup software (Dell Datasafe local backup) which does its thing and data backup in a partition on the 'C' drive to the Dell factory.  My question is if I have install Windows to backup my data on an external drive, even do I the Dell Datasafe local backup program at all?  There are fears the program is using the space on my C drive and if the C drive should plant having the backup of information about this seems little useless for me anyway.

    Thank you!

    Hi len62,

the short answer is Yes you do not need datasafe, there is never two much back ups. as you never know when something will go wrong. and datasafe allows you repiar your system without losing the personal data or files. If your printer dell made a backup is corrupt then you have windows upward to fall back on and the opisite also apply. I am attaching the support link explianing what the in dell datasafe and benefits http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=ca&cs=cabsdt1&dl=false&l=en&s=bsd&docid=62A5FEC442F5C1CBE040AE0AB8E17091&doclang=en

    hope this helps
