  Hmmm I doubt that this can be possible because it is not possible to boot from a USB flash or external HARD disk drive.

  What you could do is to copy the folder the original Microsoft CD i386 on the HARD drive and then you can run setup.exe from this folder.
  It would begin installing the XP installation program.

  But Toshiba Recovery disk contains only image files and there is no i386 folder and therefore, you need the CD of XP Ms.

  Whenever I have try and drag or copy and paste the files on my external hard drive it says I don't have permission. I know this isn't the hard drive because it works on other computers

  To give the control is a two-step process. Take ownership and then to give permissions.

  Owner of a file allows the owner to change permissions even if they do not have the authorization to do so. It's the only thing that made property. The person who creates an object owns the object. For admins, the objects that are created are the property of administrators, not the individual.

  You need start exploring as administrator to Start - All Programs - Accessories - made Windows Explorer right click and choose run as administrator.

  You must therefore make a right-click folders / drive, you are interested in tick - button Properties - Security - Advanced button - property - Edit - Replace owner on Sub containers and objects tab - select one user-then Ok your way of out.

  Right-click new - folder Properties - Security - Advanced - tab permissions - Edit button - select the account - check the two checkboxes - button - Advanced - Search now button Add button - select your tick - Ok button - total control in the list. OK your way out.

Anyway, today I plugged my Toshiba Caniva 1 TB external to some organization. I went to delete something (Cmd + delete) and nothing happened. So, I tried to drag and drop it into the basket and received a message saying that the file cannot be removed. It's weird, I thought. So, I open disk utility and discover that my external hard drive has decided to change to NTFS on its own. I tried to eject and reconnect it - that did not work. I tried to restart - which did not work. I thought that my USB hub could be a problem - nope. The only things that have changed since I last used my outside is that I changed the battery in my MacBook, put in an SSD and upgraded to El Capitan. I don't see how one of these could cause this but I thought I would mention it. Anyone who has something similar happens? Thank you.

  The reader not to not reformat in NTFS. If the disk has been reformatted would vanish all your data. I suspect that before you upgrade to El Capitan you ran a third party app that would allow you to use NTFS formatted disk. Once you upgrade to El Capitan the app is no longer compatible with your new operating system. You must download and install an upgraded version of your application that supports El Capitan. Or, you can copy all data from the disk and reformat then for your Mac.

  I have a Macbook Pro 15 "i7 mid 2012. My HARD drive just died (slowly and painfully). In a first stage, it froze, then after a reboot, Finder was to crash and restart. Another reboot failed, it just froze on the logo Apple, next took 20 minutes, but it finally began. I thought I could solve the problem by upgrading the operating system (he had done that in a while, I got Yosemite) so I downloaded El Capitan via the app store, but when it was supposed to restart to start the installation, it froze again. I also have Windows 8 on bootcamp so I switched to that to see if it was also weird, but it looked good so I decided to start OS X in safe mode, see if it helps. I should get the same as (a Samsung 500 GB ST500LM012 I think)? Then I upgraded to an SSD and if so who would work? And also once I change it, how can I reinstall OS X? The Macbook didn't come with a CD and I'm guessing that the new HARD drive will not this recovery partition or an equivalent.

  With respect to data recovery, you can try to search for software on the Internet, generally, there is a free trial version and if it seems to work, you will need to purchase the software.  You can also retain the services of professional data recovery company, but that will be very expensive with no guarantee.

  Since your drive HARD crashed and you need to restore the operating system, try running a disk check.

  You can also perform boot HARD drive Diagnostics. Select "Test using PC HP Diagnostics (UEFI) material" in the HP support document.

  These tests check the system files and the integrity of your HARD drive.

  If all the tests are good try uninstalling and reinstalling each program.

  I don't really know what else could be causing these two programs to act in this way.

  The free space on my hard drive stop less and less even if I do not want to install anything on it. In fact I deleted the files and folders to try to increase the free space on the hard drive, but free space still less and less stops. I searched through the filesa and folders, etc, and there seems to be about 80 GB which is used by the hard drive that I can't find anywhere. I ran the software anti-virus and anti-spyware software that I also have a firewall running. However, the hard disc to stop continually complete with what I don't know. Any ideas?

  Following your advice, I installed:

  This allowed me to find all the files on my computer and better still highlighted the huge file that was causing the problem.

  The file at the root of the problem is a log file more 126 GB in size. He was hiding there in a folder on my hard drive that Explorer windows normal not to find / identify. The logfile at the origin of the problem was "pyagcore" and it seems if installed on your computer when you install the kiwee toolbar internet explore.

  I was able to delete the pyagcore file and then disabled and deleted the kiwee toolbar. Everything looks OK and I more 126 GB of hard disk space back.
