• Burning AVCHD on DVD

  In the past, working with the DV SD video to create DVDs, I would always 'Burn to Folder' first and then burn the DVD disc using the file structure/files in the folder as a result of the computer (i.e. VIDEO_TS).  While first Elements 10 supports a 'Burn to Folder' option to create an AVCHD on DVD (for playback on Blu - Ray players), burn the DVD disc with the help of files/files in the folder structure as a result of the computer (i.e. BDMV) doesn't seem to work (AVCHD on PS3 disc read error).  Engraving - the same video directly on the DVD disc, however, works.  In both case, file structure appears to be identical, but one works and the other does not.  Any ideas why this is the case and how to solve?

  I'm strictly a Windows elements user so I can't speak to the issue regarding what you do with the burning of the first elements AVCHD BDMV folder to the folder. I suspect tht put you format AVCHD on DVD as a data disc and do not receive the correct disc file system.

  Here's the story from the point of view first Windows elements...

  If you burn first elements AVCHD Disc (which you say works for you in terms of game on your Blu - ray drive), the drive that has the BDMV folder and the file system of the disk is UDF.

  If you burn first DVD items on disk (presented as a point of reference here), the disc resulting owns the DVD-VIDEO (OpenDVD folder and folder VIDEO_TS) and disk file system is ISO9660, UDF.

  If you take the folder to the burn first elements AVCHD BDMV folder and burn it to a DVD as data disc, you have the BDMV on DVD folder and the files on the disk system is ISO9660, Joliet and UDF.

  Again, at this point, I suspect that you generate a data disc and not put the AVCHD Disc in the correct file system.

  Ask you, "how a check which file system is used on each disc? The way that I... I have Nero 9 which comes with the Nero Info Tool. He gives this information. And I used it to confirm what I report.

  You need a program that take your BDMV and place in on the DVD with the file system appropriate.

  ImgBurn would be perfect for the job, except that it is a Windows-based program. All over the Internet, you can find alternative ImgBurn for Mac. I don't have a Mac, so I have not looked at any of these alternatives. Can you make this work on Windows XP to confirm what I suspect?

  I have a Satellite of 6000 Pro with XP. My cd - dvd drive is dvd - rom SD-R2102. I can read and burn CDs, I can read DVD & divxx but I can't burn it to a DVD + RW. Apparently, the cd is not recognized.
