can I transfer my IE8 Favorites to mozilla?
The bookmarks that I currently have on IE8 automatically transfer to firefox when it is installed or I have to manually save and transfer after loading of firefox?
Firefox is provided with a default search engine or if I can use any search engine?
You can have several installed browsers as you like, but only one browser may be the default browser that is used when you click on a link or open an HTML file via another program.

How can you transfer favorites among users. My original user no longer works?
How can you transfer favorites among users. My original user no longer works?
I had to create another profile.Firefox made regular bookmark backups, so that you can restore the backup from your old profile to the new. Although, I suppose that the user is unable to connect, you always have access to its files.
First of all, make sure that Windows allows you to see the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps if necessary: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then, down the old profile and copy out a few last backups to a more convenient location. You'll look here:
C:\Users\oldusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\semi-random-name\bookmarkbackups
File names include a data and County bookmark as well as random characters. I suggest you copy the last two at your new desktop or documents folder.
In Firefox, you can restore the backup file by following the steps in this article: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer. Use the option "Choose file" to find backups in your office or documents, as appropriate.
Note: You could bookmark that something already in Firefox, but those that are not merged, they are replaced, so if they are essential, you can export your current bookmarks to HTML format, which can be imported from non-destructively after restoring. See:
- Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks
- Importing bookmarks from an HTML file
Success?

Installed Windows 7 Professional custom in the required form XP. All the favorites were lost in Firefox and had to reinstall Firefox.
Explorers has maintained the Favorite list, I had to explore - quite different from Firefox.
Check the programs created separately by 7 to include the XP file. Favorites, registration is not relevant to the list lost on Firefox reinstall.
Question: Is it possible that I can get back the original Favorites listing lost when the 7 install, or is it 'gone with the wind "?I have not read what is happening in an installation of XP to 7. You can find this file on your system:
C:\Windows.old
If so, you can find one of these:
- C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\your user name
- C:\Windows.old\Users\your username
If so, your old given Firefox might be in there. To explore more, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then search either:
- \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profilesyour usernameC:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\
- Your username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\
Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably the one you want to restore from.
Bookmarks only
Go down the old bookmarkbackups folder and copy the last two backups in a location such as the desktop.
The restore feature will replace the bookmarks in Firefox by default (and what you added since the reset) with all like bookmarks. If you want preserve newly added bookmarks, use the first, export function before the restore, then the import function later. The following articles have details:
- Restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer - to access backups on the desktop, use the command 'Choose file' menu
- (Optional) Import bookmarks to an HTML file
Success?
Complete restoration
This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect your old wide profile in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

How can I transfer my old data of Firefox on my new Firefox in my new computer?
My old computer died and I just took my other. After the data has been transferred to my new, I noticed that Firefox was missing. I downloaded it on the net. "I have a file called ' old data Firefox" which was created when I had problems before. How can I transfer to the new Firefox?
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
See:
- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
When you refresh/reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, data form) are automatically imported.
The current profile folder will be moved to "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop.
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, Pref.) that you have made are lost and must be redone. It is possible to retrieve data from the "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop, but be careful not to copy the files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.

How can I transfer my favorite photos library on my MacBook to another library on an external hard drive without losing metadata and keywords?
If you want to keep the metadata, you must export the images as the current versions, edited. File > export > export... images. Then you can turn on the indicator "Tile, keys, descriptions words":
Choose a high quality for JPEG, not to lose quality. To the RAWs export them under like TIFF picture.
You can export the RAWs as "file > export > export original unmodified" and keep it RAW, but which will not include the metadata. And the Photos will allow you to export an XMP file with metadata, but when I tested, it did not apply the metadata when you import the RAW files again. So the best compromise for the RAW format would be to export as TIFF, another lossless format.

How can I transfer the Firefox profile from one user to another on my pc (win XP)
At work, I use Firefox as my default browser.
In my business, the COMPUTER administrator installed new system s/w on the companys main server and changed user names.
So now firefox lost information (profile) I already had on my pc.
Now in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\", I have 2 users.
The one with the old username and the other with the new user name
Also I can not any connection any longer in my pc with the old username because the administrator has also changed the domain name.
How can I transfer the profile that I had (with a lot of useful bookmarks etc.) of the former user name for the new user name?
Thank you in advance!

How can I transfer Firefox bookmarks on computers with a DVD?
I have just built a new computer and I do not know how to transfer all my favorite Firefox from my old computer to my new. The old computer works, but the only way I have to connect the two is through a CD, DVD or external hard drive. Therefore, to transfer my favorites, I need to know if there is a convenient way to copy them to the removable storage that I can then use to reinstall on Firefox on my new computer. I think that this procedure is so common that there is probably a medium setting to do so. Thank you for your attention.
Click on bookmarks > show all bookmarks.
Import and backup > export to HTML
Save the file where it will be easy for you to access.
You can simply send to yourself in an e-mail or transfer it via a flash drive.
When you get the file on your new computer
bookmarks > show all bookmarks
Backup and import > import bookmarks HTML
