Can I use corrupt catalog?

Hey everybody. So I really need help here.

Recently I started using Dropbox to sync my Lightroom Catalog between my iMac where I do 95% of my work and my Macbook Pro. I recently returned from a trip with more than 1000 new photos. I've been editing for several days. Today I open Lightroom on my iMac and noticed all my work, I've done over the last two days had disappeared. Digging a little I found out I think somehow, I created a catalog in conflict. Even though I know that my laptop was closed while I just changed, I suppose Lightroom must have been opened, and it has created a catalogue in conflict. I opened the catalog in conflict and all my work is here.

Anyway, no matter how it happened, I wonder if someone sees a problem with just using the catalog in conflict for my new catalog, so I have to somehow try and import all the changes in my old catalog. I'll keep the old one just in case where.

Another question. If I follow the catalog in conflict for my main one-do I need to redo all my smart insights? The catalog in conflict has no intelligent previews. Dropbox download may take a long time, so Im wondering if I can point my catalog to my original file of intelligent preview.

IM really frustrated here. Advice anyone can offer to straighten this mess would be really appreciated. Ill do my best to never let it happen again.

In my mind, found time to create/upload is not the concern. The concern is that different catalogs (your catalog in conflict compared with non-confrontational) cannot use the same clips, and you can not move the previews from one to the other. Thus, you MUST let Lightroom create/manage/use the previews of each catalog. No other way. However long it takes to DropBox to download, you must allow this day here, because there is no other way.

    In your OS, the folder that contains your catalog must have read & write permission.

    If you think that you already have, we show a screenshot so that we can see in the Explorer Windows/Mac Finder folder that contains the catalog file; and show us an another screen shot of the permissions on this folder.

    Also, please check the catalog file in your operating system to ensure that it is not set read-only.

    I then read all (I hope) I could find on this topic on this forum and made sure that the Master Catalog (and all subfolders) on the external hard drive can read; Click on 'Properties' and made sure read-only has been highlighted.

    This has not solved the problem for me.

    I also noticed that there is a 'log' file I deleted and a file .lock I found.

    None of this helped I always get the same warning message.

    Maybe you have an idea on what I can do next?

    You are allowed to two activations; Then Yes. But you will need an external hard drive formatted for both platforms. Many readers formatted for Windows cannot be written from a Mac.

    Attention with the help of two catalogs with the same images! What you do in one are completely ignored in the other. I run a photography business, and it's not good. I backup whenever I go out of Lightroom, I again have my computers and then take backups of my bank vault.

    Well, if you can open a recent backup of your catalog file, and you do not receive this message, then I would say that the backup is not damaged and you need to use.

    I fixed it!

    I couldn't work at all Internet Explore.  I finally installed Superantispyware from a USB pendrive and it ran in safe mode without network.  So I ran Malwarebytes and ccleaner.  After a reboot, everything works great again.  I could install Microsoft Security Essentials and get current updates.  After a smart defrag it turns really well now.

    I was able to make a recovery cd set too.  It will be just as good as if I he burned them on a new computer?  I mean can the data used to make these CDs get corrupted over time?  This laptop is 6 years old.
