  I use a laptop Toshiba Satellite L450D new that came with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed.  I used it for a few months now without any problem - except that some features to my Microsoft Office suite have stopped working.  But I can find workarounds for these problems.  Here's my biggie:

  I'm launching the Civilization 4 game
  Developer: Firaxis
  Distribution: 2K Games

  I installed the game by using the run as Administrator option.

  I then downloaded and installed the latest patch (version 1.61) also use the run as Administrator option.  Apart from the installation of the patch Firaxis and 2 K offers no advice.  Civilization 4 was published in 2005, so I guess it's out of warranty.  It's fine for them, but only, I bought my copy in 2008.

  If I try to run the program normally it seems to start fine - with correct flash screen - but then the notebook flips to a blank (black) screen and locks up.  There is a lot of activity from the HD but no sound and nothing on the screen.  I can't work in the Task Manager and I cannot turn the program screens.

  Then, I tried to resolve the problems Compatabilitty.  This time, with Win XP settings, I spent the flash screen, credit screens, and the introductory video.  Then lock-up as above.

  I have now my laptop works on a dozen big red-switching time and I'm tired.  Hard restarts caused havoc with my settings.  I had a heart attack 10 minutes when, after a reboot, all of my administrator access seemed to have been removed and I couldn't find a way to access the file Explorer.  Then the system restore has refused to roll back!

  Since then, the laptop seems to be returned to normal - although my firewall (non-Microsoft) seems to have lost its database of the programs safe and everything slows down asking questions every 5 seconds.  Also, I will not dare try the system restore again until all my work is completely saved.

  Please help - while I still have hair to tear.

  It's not a downgrade. When you install DX9, it is separated from DX11 (you keep DX11) and programs just to choose the one they made to use.

This may actually be a problem with the hardware on the system (it is possible that the port may be bad). If you want to upgrade to Windows XP, you can try to look online for a possible way to get Windows XP.

So I installed my photoshop cs3 extented him and it worked fine for two weeks then out of no where the program will load until he tells TWAIN of construction of the menu items and then adobe stops working completely. I tried ctrl + alt + shift, I uninstalled and reinstalled and even tried to restart an older date to see if I could get woking properly. So far, nothing works and I'm getting very frustrated.   The TWAIN plugin and / or remove all the TWAIN drivers and descriptions of device in your system (C:\Windows\System32\Twain) directory, and then reinstall any device introduced in the first place.

  I recently downloaded aoe 3 games for windows program, see the list also useful with Windows 7.

  Download fine, as does the installation but I have a very big problem all I get when I try and run all the extensions of aoe 3 is the following error

  c:\windows\system32\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the provider of software for support.

  The file in question is there I tried to delete it using the program dxwebsetup or one that comes with the download aoe3 however both reinstall the same file accurate return.

  I have try the .exe running in all sorts of compatibility mode as well as manually from the install in compatibility mode. all I get is the same error each time. I ran the esfile auditor and lists some invalid files, I guess it's because they are cracked to work without the cd files. I downloaded the game 3 times now.

  My drivers are all upward to date, research on the internet I can't find a lot of information, a lot of links goto the forums on agecommunity.com but they are no longer works.

  I am really stuck and would appreciate any help thanks
