can't go beyond WINDOWS\system32\config msg of error at startup - PLEEEAASSSEE

Different laptop cannot cross a problem starting. He is caught in a loop. It won't let me into Safe Mode, Mode safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt Mode, last known good Configuration or start Windows normally.

I inserted a recovery disk and rebooted the ' puter but still get the same loop. I have NO access to a start menu using this method to access a recovery installed program is therefore impossible.

I don't have a CD boot as the ' puter was a gift and I got XP Home Edition disk. I tried to boot with the XP disc instead but there still, no help.

Little almost at a loss to know how I can break the loop and have access to my HP Compaq 6910p ' puter.

What is the brand and model of the laptop?

Please describe this "recovery disk" in as much detail as possible. I'm confused, since you say that it came with a "boot CD". (It is actually quite common. Many PC instead come with a restore hidden hard drive partition). But you also say that you have a 'disc XP Home Edition'. Is that what you mean by "recovery disk"? Once again, please describe in detail! East - the Retail, OEM or generic OEM brand? Full or upgrade? What level of SP (if any)?

When you restarted your computer laptop, made it boot from the hard drive instead of the CD? (It's what it sounds like). You must configure the laptop to boot from the CD instead of the hard drive option by default!

    Windows\system32\config ("crypto file") this file is mainly to update windows, I suggest you to check if the cryptographic service is running.

    a. open administrative tools by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type administrative tools, and then click Administrative Tools.

    b. double-click on Services.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    c. click the name column header to sort the names in reverse order. Find the Windows Update service. Note the selection state (the status appears in the third column). Right-click Windows Update, and then do one of the following:

    If Start is available, click Start.

    If the restart is available, click on restart.

    d. click the name column header to sort the names in alphabetical order and then click Cryptographic Services.

    e. close the Services dialog box, and then try to perform a backup of the system.

    I suggest to perform a clean boot and disable the security software and then try to run windows Backup and check if it helps.

    You cannot download Windows Xp. However, you can try to repair your current installation by using the Recovery Console. Download the recovery from HEREConsole. Unzip the folder choose Extract the iso file to your desktop for convenience. Click HERE for the instructions to burn the iso image. You need to a blank cd. Once you've burned the image, you will need to boot from the cd.

    1. Insert the CD from Recovery Console in your CD-ROM drive and restart your computer. If you are prompted, select any options needed to start (boot) on the CD. (Usually the message will be "Press any key to boot from cd")
       
    2. when the text portion of Setup begins, follow the prompts. Select the repair or recovery option by pressing R.
       
    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot system, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
       
    4. When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If you have not set a password for the account admin simply press on enter
       
    5. at the Recovery Console prompt, type the following lines, pressing ENTER after you type each line: each line must be typed exactly as it appears below.

    For your Windows CD, which would have been provided by the PC manufacturer.  Sometimes they have a partition on the hard disk that contains the recovery software and can be viewed during the start up.  You should check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the recovery options.  Also if they did not provide a CD sometimes they offer the recovery media for sale.

    The problem here is that something has happened to the ntoskrnl.exe file.  It is difficult to replace just this file because the version that's on a CD may be different for the version that you had on your system.  If replace you it with another that it could potentially cause other problems.

    I was trying to deploy 1 Vista image on 4 laptops. I installed Vista Business (32 bit) on 1 laptop Dell Inspiron 1318. After I installed all my applications, I ran sysprep and has shutdown the laptop.

    Then I used the Migration of Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2009 HDD utility make a clone of bit by bit of disk SATA (75GB) notebook #1. (Previous attempts to use ImageX has failed) After drive cloning, I inserted the clone into an another Laptop Inspiron 1318. The installation of Vista program began with the EULA and I created a new account user (an admin a/c).

    When I tried to connect, I got the message: "the location is not available. C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is not accessible. Access is denied. "and the ball above message.

    I researched and found info telling me to reset the ACL in my desktop connection folder and systemprofile desktop folder. I've done those, but they have not resolved my situation. Another post said to create a new admin account. I did it too, but it did not solve my problem.

    I am unable to use any GUI interface after the half-login. I have to use the safe mode and the command line to get anything done.

    Can someone help me with the following problem. With regard to a Toshiba Satellite A100-207 with windows XP media edition

    There is also a file system.sav in the folder windows\system32\config using this all goes someway to to solve the problem, the laptop restarts and resumes product set-up with off course fails has so I don't have the recovery disk.

    I would be grateful if someone could help with the problem

    You can ignore this warning, you have no other choice than to try to fix this system following the article in the Microsoft Knowledge base.

    But to be honest, I doubt that the system would run smoothly after this work around.

    I would recommend the new installation of the OS.
    If you don t have a Toshiba Recovery disk, you can use a Microsoft Disk to reinstall the system. Essential drivers are available Toshiba driver Web site.

    I agree with kody. You can try to fix it using windows advanced option menu. Maybe you can also try to repair Windows by using the recovery console. Problem is that this option can be used with Microsoft WXP CD facilities and not with supplied recovery media.

    As I wrote in various support forums, it seems that the Windows XP registry is corrupted. There is an adviser to Microsoft to fix this, but that's why I have to boot from the CD.

    I tried to change the sequence of booting (from HDD to CD) access the BIOS at startup but all the possible key (and combination) did not work, I found: F12 (which should be the right one for the 5200 series), F1, F2, DEL, C,...
    If I hold down ESC at startup I get a minimal installation but only to change the time and date.

    Are there any experience available regarding this issue? Toshiba support responded to my support request.

It's my DISLIKE for the purchase of a laptop computer with the OEM software, without a backup disk. If there is a problem, the manufacturer generally is going to drag you dry. Why is it not possible to ask even an OEM Lenovo restore disk?     These files are the system restore registry files. Because you used the registry file that the Setup program created, this registry does not know that these restore points exist and are available. A new folder is created with a new GUID under System Volume Information and a restore point is created that includes a copy of the registry files that were copied during the first part. Therefore, it is important not to use the most recent folder, especially if the time stamp on the folder is the same at the moment.

    The current configuration of the system is not aware of the previous restore points. You must have a previous copy of the registry to a previous restore point to make previous restore available again points.

    The registry files that were copied to the Tmp folder in the C:\Windows folder are moved to ensure the files are available in the Recovery Console. You use these files to replace the registry files currently in the C:\Windows\System32\Config folder. By default, the Recovery Console has limited access to records and cannot copy the files in the File System Volume.

    and now when I go to the fourth part and try to connect, it says I need to activate windows to open a session. If I click on Yes, the computer crashes just in my background image, if I click on no, this Chuck me back to the log in page... What is wrong with this blooming thing

    The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (this includes pulling and buttons power)
    These can cause corruption in the file system that must be fixed before you do anything else.
    If none of these events occurred (or even if they have not taken place), you must verify the integrity of your file system before anything else (especially "try" things).
    There is zero logic to start try to copy files to a hard drive that has a corrupted file system, so this must be first using the XP chkdsk program and run chkdsk can solve your problem completely.
    Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.
    Start the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD, or create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console.
    This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.  If you don't know what kind of bootable CD, you, do a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console and do not forget.
    After booting into the Recovery Console, you should be in this folder:
    C:\WINDOWS
    For each of your hard disk partitions, you must then run:
    Chkdsk /r
    For example, at the Recovery Console prompt, enter:
    CHKDSK c: /r
    Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.  It may take a long time to complete or seem to be 'glued '.  Be patient.  If the HARD drive light flashes, it's something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.
    The chkdsk/r must be completed without error, you may need to run several times until it does.
    Remove the CD and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer and the report with your progress.
