  After you have installed Windows 8 on my desk, I lost the ability to scan with HP (Officejet 8500 pro wireless) solutions Center. Wen I click on scan (rather photo or document) I get a message: "Scan cannot be performed because another program or computer uses the network device. There is a little information on the HP site. I've tried all the suggested solutions, including several install and reinstall the HP software. The printing part works very well, and I can scan with other programs directly using the WIA driver. Now I scan documents to pdf authorizing searches, who wants me that this question be set quite often. Currently, I use my laptop for that. Everything works very well with Windows 7.

  I contacted HP about this specific problem.  They informed me that it is an upgrade of Windows 8 that Twain issue and they do not support this problem.  Reinstall the current drivers of hp does not help.

  Since you have formatted the PC and reinstalled Windows, your question will be handled better in the hardware forum space and drivers for Windows 7, so I'll move it there.

  Apparently, you need to install the driver of your PC network. If you used the CD to restore the PC manufacturer that should have been included, but it may be on a 2nd CD with drivers and programs.

  If not, the first thing to do is contact the PC manufacturer to see if they have a driver available for download. If the PC has a wireless network card and wired, perhaps one has been configured, but not the other and you try to use the not yet detected and installed.

When I turn on the laptop it just see the Acer boot screen and then immediately switch to a black screen with white text saying "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key any." At first I thought that the HD was defective, so I replaced with a new HD but still its giving the same problem. Not only can I not load/start windows but there is no option to access the BIOS (even I tried pressing F2, F10, F12, delete).   I have a 515 with four active interfaces (material of three and a VIRTUAL local area network). I have a DMZ interface with security level equal to 6. Inside network (Security 100) I can only access hosts on the DMZ using the HTTP protocol. Ping and telnet do not work while they do not work when I am connected directly to the network DMZ. The DMZ network is flat and all the guests have the PIX as their DGW. Here is a copy of the current configuration. Am I missing something? This shouldn't be so hard!

  The main reason, I run the VMs is because I have a couple of diving watches that have only (former) Windows software to download their data.  Use a virtual Windows XP machine for some time without problems, I want Windows 7 like XP will soon be out of support.  I have recently implemented the Windows 7 VM, installed the software of the watch and the first time I used the software it worked.  The next time I went to use, applications can access the shared folders *.  I've never had this problem with the XP VM.  I can access shared folders on Windows Explorer.  I also found that if I copy a single file (any file) from a shared folder on the C: drive and then start the application, they are able to access the shared folders.  Obviously, copy the file changes the State of something that depend on windows applications.

  OK, I think I have determined that the cause of the problem, and it seems that this isn't a problem of merger as such.

  It seems that it was because I was running both Windows applications in compatibility Windows XP (SP3) mode.  In this mode, none of the applications are able to access network drives (and shared folders behave like network drives) until a copy was made with the approval of the admin.  By the granting of the authorization of R/W to the applications, I was able to run in normal mode and now the readers (including folders) network applications appear.

  I was able to reproduce the problem on a netbook, I'm running Windows 7 Starter.

  Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  The first thing I would say is to scan your system for viruses and malware.  If he's found nothing, or after cleaning, the problems are corrected so I suggest trying a system restore.  Here are the instructions for restoring the system: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

  I can not open all programs on my desktop or in the start menu. The icons have changed to resemble the outlook icon. Even when I try to open Outlook it gives me a message command line argument is not valid. I can however some programs work but I need to open a file within the program.

  This can happen if your file associations are broken.  Here's how to restore correct file associations.

  1. Press + R to display the run box, type RSTRUI and click OK.
  2. Choose a date when the computer was working properly, and then click on next to restore system files from that date.  The computer will restart with the fixed parameters.

• Cannot access BIOS after own Win 7 installed on the new HD

  The machine is HP Elite E9240F. Here's what I did.

  1 replace the plant HD with faster player - went well

  2. clean install Win 7 on new drive - activate - went well

  Now everything starts fine, and loads of Windows. NO problem BUT I cannot access the BIOS more. Not that I need at this time, but I would like to know that where I did it, I could.

  Repeated F1 or F11 at startup pressure will produce the black screen for the Windows Boot Manager.

  I removed the CMOS battery and retried - same results. I can access the blue screen when I select the boot sequence by pressing ESC but never can I go back in the system BIOS.

  I have a HP 6500 printer connected to my desktop which is a dell dimension 8400 and ios is Windows XP Home Edition.

  I have a media center from hp running Windows XP mediacenter, they are both on the network.  I was able to

  share documents and I were able to share the printer to the HP mediacenter.  I can see the printer when I shared it on the computer

  but when I try to print, the print that I open it and it says document is printed, but nothing happens!  Don't know what the problem is.
