Cannot access my profile. (Windows XP SP3) Problem apparently because of Windows Installer.

I can't connect to my profile, apparently because of a problem with Windows Installer.  It starts to open a session and when I try to access my documents I get a message unable to access my profile and if I'm logged a temporary profile: "Details: access to refusedowever, everything seems to be there, except for my usual wallpaper and I can access my files."  In the msconfig Services tab, Windows Installer shows as stopped. I tried to reinstall, but it won't download because of the error of windows install. The keyboard started to do fun things like key assignment got confused. My admin profile works except for the Windows Installer problem which stops remove me or update Java. I checked for malware and viruses (no) run "sfc/scannow" ad "chkdsk /f.  All system restore points are missing.  If I can access my files, the system asks me my first and last name and initials prior to providing access. I have now the temp profile open in safe mode and note that a file that I saved when you previously logged into the temp profile has been saved successfully to the new folder that I created. In addition, when you are connected to normal mode, I found that I couldn't access to Mozilla Firefox, open MS Internet Explorer and click on a link to something (can't remember what) and Mozilla Firefox open as usual.

Things that I did just before this problem appeared: installed and run Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, tried to update Java and VLM Media Player using AVAST! interface, and then without using AVAST! interface. Both failed, but something else I've updated OK. Tried to download and install Windows Installer 4.5 (without success). So I then tried to repair/reinstall command of the race by using regedit and regserver command screen.

I wonder whether to follow the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756. However, as it asks me to back up the registry before you edit it. As all my previous restore points disappeared, I don't trust to back up the registry. How can I back up the registry of my external hard drive?

You have a damaged or corrupted user profile.  A way to recover from this condition is to perform a system restore, but since you have no restore points, you will need to recover with another method.  The usual way to recover is to create a new user profile and then copy the data from the damaged to the new profile user profile.  This procedure is not usually difficult.  Choose from the selection below:

"How to recover damaged Windows XP user profile"

"How to copy a user profile data damaged to a new stars in Windows XP"

Almost always, corruption of the profiles is accompanied, otherwise caused corruption in the file system.  At an ideal time, it is strongly recommended to perform a 'chkdsk' operation with the "/ R" or "Repair" option.  Note that this operation will take place at the next reboot before Windows loading completely, cannot be interrupted and can take more than a few hours depending on the size/speed of hard disk and the number of errors found...  Sometimes, this in-and-of-itself can solve the problem.

To answer your question on the backup of your registry - try the freeware "C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT" to create a backup.  It has been used and recommended in this forum for years.

  • Cannot download a program - Windows Installer service could not be accessed

Im trying to download a program from the internet, but sometimes (windows service install cannot accessed.this can occur if windows install is not properly installed.contact your support staff to assistance.can someone help as I already downloaded things before and it happened)

Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»

    2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

    3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.

    4. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec/regserver", and then press ENTER.

If this is insufficient, the I would say to install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run that to remove the Java remains Setup files that can cause problems with your current installation.

  • Cannot access my profile of owner/Admin

    Hi all

I'm new to this website and you are my last hope. I am currently running Windows 7 and I had no problems before. Earlier today, I was using my laptop and everything was fine. I yelled and had to leave for a few minutes, so I decided to put my laptop in mode "Eve". When I got home I have it turned back and entered my password and it says "Username or password incorrect" which was strange, after a few other attempts without success. I turned off my laptop, when I did he started to update. Now I'm unable to access my profile which sucks because it was the owner/admin account. When I try to restore to a previous time on another account, I am unable to reason because it requires the admin password.

So, if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!

    Thank you

    Jake

Now I'm unable to access my profile which sucks because it was the owner/admin account. When I try to restore to a previous time on another account, I am unable to reason because it requires the admin password.

    Here you go:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your system repair CD. If you do not have one, ask a friend to burn you through the control panel / backup and restore. It takes less than five minutes.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the CD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore. You will not have a password.
    7. Configure Windows to a point before this problem occurred.
    8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.
  • Cannot access computers running Windows XP Pro on wireless network.

3 machines on the wireless network. 1 running Windows 7; 2 running Windows XP Pro.  Previously, I had full access in all directions. No problems.   Now I can't access Pro X machines. Neither the machine, Windows 7, or a XP Pro on the other machine. I can see XP machines in Windows Explorer with the complete display of all shared folders, but when I try to access a file, I get an error message. "\\Tiger\Documents and setting are not available. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find the you have permissions to access. Not enough server storage is available to process this command. "(This is the message I get when I try to access one of the XP machines on the Windows 7 machine The message on a XP machine when I try to access the other XP is the same, except that the last sentence is "the network path is not found."  I CAN have full access to the Windows 7 machine is XP Pro machines. I checked the properties of sharing on both XP machines, and they seem to be the same when everything worked correctly. I have installed any new program - except the regular updates of Windows and the frequent update of the antivirus of Trend Micro. Any solution?

Thanks Steven Winograd. I don't know how to frame a search that would have led me to the Article 177078, or that it applies to my problem, once I found it. I may have a new technique, but I CAN follow a recipe from Cookbook to change the IRPStackSize. Increase the value of 15 to 18 solves the problem without a further hiccup. Thanks again.

  • Cannot access Internet on Windows Update

I recently formatted my computer windows laptop. I'm using Windows 7 Home Basic Edition. After a day or two, I am unable to access the internet even if I am connected to the router. I even tried to access Internet through my cell phone using a hotspot. It too its display "NO Internet access. There is no problem with the router or my cell like everybody else uses it and its works very well. So I tried to system restore to a point where I knew I was able to use the Internet. And here it does not work... But even once after the windows update it stopped working. Again, I must use the system restore to make it work.

I can't find the source of this problem? Because of the windows update or something else?

The KB2705219 update could be the cause and uninstall that solved the problem for some users.

To uninstall an update - control panel, programs & features, [left side of the window] see installed updates. Wait until the system has finished the research for the list of updates. Select update required, then right click and Uninstall.

    But...

In another thread [my computer today installed windows 7 updates, but my internet has been lost.] But the network is visible. [what caused this?] a user has identified this notice - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

While it remains that uninstall the Win7 update than kb2705219 solved the problem for at least two users, you should consider the McAfee fix. At least two users had also reported having removed then reinstalled McAfee earlier in the day and their systems have increased back & run correctly afterwards.

I had to run the MCPRT deletion a few times before and it caused a problem with the license if the PC was not connected to the internet during the abduction. Due cat of McAfee support reset their files in order to allow the relocation-reactivation. Here is their link cat - McAfee - media contains the link to the cat

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 - cannot access Rescue and Recovery - MBR poss problem?

I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 sick who was running XP home. I could not start XP and can only access the Rescue and Recovery utility in the Lenovo recovery Partition that would be to rebuild the hard drive to factory settings IE. Windows XP with no data. I managed to copy the data using a Paragon backup cd and then made the fatal mistake of attempting a repair MBR, which was a very tempting option on the Paragon rescue cd. Now, not only it does not boot to XP, but I can run is even more Rescue and Recovery to reinstall XP which is the problem!

If I boot with windows install disc and take the option recovery console it stops, statement that "recovery console could not find the hard drives connected to your computer. Setup cannot continue. "

I was wondering if someone another backup MBR restore could help me with this?

So, if someone has a Lenovo 3000 N200 work and is willing to try to save the MBR to send it to me, then please get in touch. It is probably useful to make a backup for yourself where the same problems happen to you!  In my view, there are a bunch of programs that backup the MBR for example MBRtool, MBRWizard and so on.

Any ideas, offer accepted with gratitude.

Yes I know I could buy the Lenovo recovery disk, but it is a matter of principle for me avoid paying £50 or so if I can avoid it! We'll see if we can help here...

    Thank you

    Simonides

    I am pleased Andyp!

The solution was to set the primary partition to inactive and value the recovery partition Active, then restart and use the Lenovo Care button (now finally works) to access the function of recovery so I could return the laptop to factory State.

No doubt there are plenty of ways to do it, but the approach I took to solve this problem is released under

    1. use another PC to download Paragon backup and restore (I actually used the trial edition now but the free edition may have a similar feature)

2nd burn a CD bootable backup and recovery 10.0.

    3. start the CD Lenovo, and after a long wait, a menu should appear with 11 options, the first of them being Paragon backup and restore.

    4. Select Paragon backup and restore.

5 select properties in the pick a task window and you will see two partitions, a big enough (in my case Go 143, called Preload) and the other is quite small (6 GB called SERVICEV001).

Note: this is an opportunity brilliant to use the Back Up Partition option to make a backup on external drive USB of the two partitions as the reconstruction of the hard drive with Lenovo Care button you will lose all data.

6 right-click the partition preloads and select Edit and set idle

    7. made the SERVICEV001 partition right click and select Edit and set the Active

8 remove the backup and recovery of CD and put it somewhere safe

    9. restart the PC and Lenovo Care button (might be called something different) should now work, allowing you to restore the hard drive to factory settings which will erase all data of a personal nature. You did a backup?

10 Windows should then start as usual, reinstall Paragon backup and restore, and restore your data.

Finally, look at this as a lesson to

    (a) you get a writable DVD and use the Lenovo menu under windows to create a floppy disk from Lenovo rescue and recovery started.

    (b) use Paragon or equivalent to create copies of images of each partition and ordinary differential copies of the primary partition.

I hope this will help other owners who have a hidden rescue for example partition. IBM and HP and would like to receive feedback.

Finally, I must acknowledge assistance patient e-mail provided by Taisia Smirnova Paragon support by offering me this solution.

    best, Simonides

  • Administrator cannot access folders in Windows 7

I have a new computer and I am the administrator. I've implemented a new guest account and he was denied access to a folder. However, the administrator can no longer access this folder at all.

Even when the administrator account can access the folder no files can be read (they are multimedia files).

Is it possible to completely reset the permissions on the folder that the administrator can play once more files.

Denying access to certain users or groups is a bad idea because it can have unintended effects if you are not perfectly familiar with how work ACL. A few days ago that I am involved in a thread that the author did the same thing you did. So far, none of us found a way to restore access to the file in which he asked to "deny".

If your neighbor wants to keep you out of his house, did it install a detection device of the person who is sensitive to you? Not very likely. It does the opposite: hands He carries keys to the people he trusts. You must manage the permissions on the folders in the same way: provides access only to the groups and users who you trust. Forget the others - because they are not in the trusted group they will get any access.

You can try this method to repair the damage you have done:
1 activate the administrator account and password.
    2 restart in Safe Mode.
    3. log on as an administrator.
    4. click on start
    5. type the three letters cmd
    6. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
7 run the process as an administrator.
8 type the following commands and press ENTER after each:
    takeown /f Q:\/a r d y
    ICACLS Q:\/t/c/grant administrators: F System: F "%nom user %": F
(Answer "Yes" when prompted "Are you sure?")
(Replace q: with the actual drive letter the problem disk)
