  • Why anyone cannot access a device of storage attached to the Linksys router?

I have a Western Digital external hard drive connected to my Linksys WRT610N router.  It worked fine for months now.  When I set up the external hard drive I created a group assigned privileges and then accounts created in the Linksys router that my whole family could use, and then I had all my family use accounts that I created on the Linksys, for access.

Today, I decided to disable one of the accounts (I was worried as the computer that may have been infected, and I didn't want any virus/malware/EC which - have - you to infect file sharing.)  After you determine that the PC in question was virus-free, I then went back into the menu for storage and reactive Linksys administration account.

    Try this:

    Hi MelissaBoltik,

    ·         What is the exact error message?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Perform a clean boot to see if there is a conflict of software like the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting steps, follow section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start and then click Run.

    (b) type msconfig and click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.
