Cannot add a host disconnected from a cluster

Hi people,

I have a very strange problem - 1 my cluster host is always shown as disconnected. When I connect it manually, it is coonected, begins to configure HA and after that which is disconnected again.

Deactivation of HA - same problem. He remains connected seconds (up to a minute) and then again once disconnected.

You have any ideas?

DNS is a good first suspect, but it can also be the management agent itself.  The type of service console

service vmware-vpxa restart

No idea why that happened or what to check for a clue? I want to stop this never happen.

Also, check that your service console has enough memory to do its thing.  I had a similar problem a few months back and it turned out that my service console was starved for memory.  The default 292 MB is a bit light, once you install your management of the seller (especially the HP stuff) agents, add to a cluster, select the DRS, etc.

  • Host disconnected from Vcenter. cannot restart both agents

    Hello

    Following this thread: http://communities.VMware.com/message/1993369#1993369

After 1:30 the host where the rescan HBAS was issued, became disconnected from Vcenter.

I tried to restart the agent from the console, but he was hanged.

I happened to have logged on esx, so I stopped the agents and restarted, but it hung for 1 / 2 h from "usbsarbitrator." I left.

Looks like I need to restart the server, but I have the feeling that all the virtual machine running (OK for now) on this topic will be off and restarts automatically via DRS at best or not at all, if for some reason any DRS does not work (because of the issue of the host).

To make matter worse, vcenter is running on this host at the moment.

Is there a way to 'reconnect' vcenter to host this way can I vmotion all the VM on it before restarting the host?

    Thanks in advance

Is you are using ESXi version connect the host using putty and run below command

  • Cannot add the NFS share to store Cluster data

    Hello

    I have this scenario:

Server - FREENAS with NFS share

    -cluster with 2 guests

I added the NFS datastore successfully to each host in the cluster. The problem is when I try to add the NFS Datastore for the Cluster data store, I get the error: a specified poarameter was not correct. datastore.info.type.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Datastore1 and datastore2 data warehouses are data warehouses local? If so, you must remove these storages of data added before the NFS datatore to the cluster, first cause a cluster cannot be VMFS and NFS on the same cluster and second cause without making sense have warehouses of local data within a cluster data store.

Well I checked the membership to the Group on the subject of data center and found that I was in a group that had only READ access. Myself removed from the Group and everything is fine. Thanks for all the suggestions!

  • Cannot add the host to the distributed switch

    Hello

Updated some time a go to vSphere.  Environment has 2 hosts and I left it with standard switches.  Today, I thought I'll add a distributed switch and use the extra features etc.  I added the switch d however when I come to add a host it there are none listed?  Can someone tell me how do I migrate from standard to distributed please?

    Kind regards

    Stuart.

First of all. Do you have an Enterprise Plus license? Distributed virtual switches not working Enterpise more licenses or if you are using the Evaluation Version.

Secondly, you have all available vmnic? unless a computer host a vmnic unused, the hosts will display not.

  • Cannot add ESXi host to vCenter Server

    Hello

I created a home set up a VMware datacenter for study purposes. I currently have 2 virtual machines: an ESXi host with vCenter Server Appliance deployed on this subject.

I configured the server vCenter through web interface device and I have connected using vSphere Client.

I created a data center, but when I try to add a host, I get "ERROR: the request exceeded."
Connection with vSphere client directly to the ESXi host works.

I can connect using SSH to the ESXi host.

I have disabled the firewall on the ESXi host.

I have read many articles on the kbase but nothing helped me to solve this problem.

    You have any ideas?

    I finally got to understand.

It seems like my vmware workstation is not connected to the esxi as a physical host in my local network host, and so I was able to ping it unit of vCenter Server (but it worked the other way around, and that's why I thought it was ok).

After the connection to the physical LAN of VMware workstation settings, everything worked fine.

  • Cannot add a host with the host name in VC

    Hi all

    Nice day.

I just finished the installation of 2 servers esx4.0, Vartual Center Server and domain controller server in my home test harness. I added both the host esx server in DNS records. then I tried to add hosts to VC by using the host name, then I get the error message like

"Unable to contact the (xxxxx) host specified. "the host may not be available on the network, a network cofiguraion problem can exhist or that management on this host services may not respond.

I checked that all are ping and found no network configuration problem. I am able to add a host using the IP address, but not with the host name. I checked services in VC, all services run very well. Earlier I never had this problem.

Please help me if someone has the solution.

    Thanks in advance

    Kind regards

When I try to add a physical hard disk to a Windows 7 client on an Ubuntu host, I get the error: "insufficient permission to access file. This occurs if the drive is mounted on Ubuntu or not. In Ubuntu, permissions on records House / < username > / vmware and/dev/sdc have rwx was set by "chmod-r 777 vmware."

    Steps to follow:

  • Cannot add the drives shared to the cluster nodes

    ESX 3.5

I am trying to set up a cluster "2 nodes in a box". According to the guide of cluster (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/vi3_35_25_u1_mscs.pdf), I created the shared disks (quorum & data) using:

    vmkfstools .vdmk - c

The discs create successfully and I can see them at VIC, but when I add the disk to the virtual machine, it appears in the selection window.

    Any ideas?

Oh! The mistake was all the time under our noses

    vmkfstools - cdmk Kala

  • FireFTP cannot add Yahoo hosting server certificate exception

    Hello

Can anyone help me, how to get the right setting to access Yahoo hosting server via FireFTP.
I used to get that way before (starting a forum thread) and worked: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38 & t = 2514599
Which is by adding the prefix https:// on ftp. ["Mywebsite"] .com:21

I use Firefox version 39.0.3 btw.

    Thank you!

I couldn't access it using FireFTP. Maybe it's because FireFTP does not support the FTPS.
FireFTP is not part of the FTP client offered by Yahoo: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/yahoo-web-hosting/ftp-client-sln20423.html

But now, I can access it using FIleZilla, adding ftpes: / / prefix on ftp. [Mywebsite] .com
This is the link of reference to define: https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=25975

Nevertheless, thanks jscher2000 for trying to help!

Since I updated to v3.6.13, I can't add another tab by clicking on the sign Plus (+) sign or going to the file menu and clicking on new tab. The only way that a new tab is created is if you are on a site that opens a link in a new tab... I never had this problem before...

Try to uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and the current version of Firefox.

  • Disconnected ESX host cannot add to the CR

It started with me being unable to power on a virtual machine that I created because of "Insufficient resources to meet the level of failover configured for HA" which is great because that's how to configure HA.  I tried to reconfigure the AP to the host by double-clicking on the host and select this option.  Once I did that it failed about 30% with "an error has occurred while setting up the HA Agent on the host" and the networking page disappeared from the configuration tab similar to what a lot of people reported during the upgrade, I think an earlier version.  This is not the case, I did not update anything.  Then I restarted service service mgmt-vmware restart and the ESX host disconnected from the VC altogether.  I can't use the VI client to connect to the host in question, but I am connected via the service console. All VM and the host not to requests ping and everything works. I've disabled HA and DRS and tried to add new ESX host that has not worked.

Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.
