Cannot add the Flash disk

Hello

I came into work this morning to find one of our servers in a State that won't start plu.

This virtual server is hosted on an ESXi 3.5.0 123629 server with two data warehouses.

The following error occurred when trying to start the server.

Please check that the path is valid and try again. Cannot open disk 'path to the file DEVSQL1_1 - 000001.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Reason: The system cannot find the specified file.

When you browse the data store, I could see the vmdk file.

I learned later that the DEVSQL1_1.vmdk file has been moved to the another data store.

Unfortunately, at this time, I removed the hard drive that was pointing to the file - 000001.vmdk if I could add a new hard disk that points the moved file from DEVSQL1_1.vmdk.

Server started the first pop, except that the data stored on the disk problem are old.

At this point, I stop the server and moved the DEVSQL1_1.vmdk file to its original location. Then, I removed the disc newly added and tried to add a hard drive pointing to the original DEVSQL1_1 - 000001.vmdk. When you do this I get the error "object reference is not set to an instance of an object" and I am unable to go further.

When open the Snapshot Manager, I am unable to see relating to this disk snapshots.

Anyone know how I can join the DEVSQL1_1 - 000001.vmdk disc in order to start the server and also have access to current data?

Thank you very much

Glen

Glen - I don't think we should use this DEVSQL1 - 000001.vmdk snapshot

I have no evidence that it has been used in the history of this virtual machine.
It does not fit to the size of its parent disk.

Do you remember if DEVSQL1.vmdk has been developed in the history of this virtual machine?

Edit the vmx and change

scsi0:0. FileName = 'DEVSQL1 - 000001.vmdk ".
TO
scsi0:0. FileName = "DEVSQL1.vmdk".

It was also the State used when the machine virtual last started successfully.

Honestly, I was a little surprised when you found this DEVSQL1 - 000001.vmdk

You have an idea about this?

After editing the vmx file the VM must start - when starting carefully inspect the condition = if it is out of date turn off directly.

I doubt you'll see an out-of-date status - but if the first disk is expired I must expand the snapshot - that would be a bit strange

I havde created a simple page, it is divided into two columns
in a single column, I have just the text in the other, I've added a flash viewer (which works fine) I want to do is to add a flash drive in the Viewer. Pretty simple sounds but when I try it said its impossible to "this change should change the code which is locked by a model or a translator," I am confused, I managed to put the viewer why can't not drive? I tried to insert into another layer same error

    any ideas?

    Thank you

The error is thrown probably because the original poster uses CS3 or
earlier and chose a check for the Flash version at the insertion of the Flash
on the model of child page. This control requires an onload event in the body
tag. The body tag is locked on a child page template. So - the error.

    The solutions are-

    1. don't make a Flash version check, or
    2. apply the Flash on a dummy page, then copy the body tag in the
model of child page. Then copy the onload call in an editable region to
the bottom of the page (this combo box must be added to the model,
and allowed to be propagated to all child pages first).

    Hi Jeff,

The computer manufacturing must have created a partition on the disk or provided you CD to restore the computer to the way it was when you bought it. If you have a PC clone, then probably you need to reformat your hard drive and reinstall the operating system. If you have an OEM computer (example: HP, Dell, ETC) there is most likely instructions when you turn on/off press F11 or F12 to return the computer to the computer.

Note: Do nothing until you have all of your backup data.

    Hello

Here are all the HP information on different methods to recover back to factory settings

Three ways to recover the PC to original operating status

You have a choice of three ways to run a recovery and restore your computer to its original state. The recovery process may take an hour upwards or more and is not complete until the prompt to connect to the computer. When the recovery is complete, don't forget to run the update of Microsoft Windows and the HP health check to install all the drivers updated and software.
    1. Restore the PC to its original state with the HP Recovery Manager of in Windows Vista

If the PC can be started and opens on the Windows desktop, you can use the HP recovery disk to restore the PC to original factory State by following the steps below.
      1. Click Start and enter the recovery in the field of research. Select Recovery Manager in the list, when it becomes available. Allow the action to proceed, if you are prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
Alternatively, click Start , all programs , Recovery Manager , and then Recovery Manager . Allow the action to proceed, if you are prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.

      5. When you are prompted, select back up your files first (recommended) , and then click Next . Follow the on-screen instructions.
      6. When you are prompted to recover without backing up your files , please STOP before you click Next .
CAUTION: It's the last chance to change your mind recovery PC and delete all the files and programs. Once you click Next , the restore process cannot be stopped
      7. If you are convinced that you want to start the recovery process, click Next . The PC immediately starts formatting the disk hard drive and destroy all data.
The recovery process may take up to several hours and will return the PC to its original state. All custom, settings drivers, software and upgrades or hardware updates are lost and must be reinstalled.
Restore the PC to its original state with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible

If the PC does not start under Windows, it may still be possible to use the HP recovery disk to restore the computer to its original state. The Recovery Manager can be started during the boot process by following the steps below.
      1. Press on the button / stop to start the PC and press the f11 key when the standard BIOS guests appear on the black screen.

      • After completing the backup, when you are prompted, reinsert the recovery disk, and then click Next to continue the recovery process.
A status box is displayed to indicate the State of the recovery and the estimated remaining time.
      • If you have used several disks when you created the custom recovery discs, follow the prompts to remove the first disc and insert requested discs.

    4. When you are prompted to Insert additional driver disk , take one of the following actions:
      • If you purchased a replacement of HP recovery disk and it included an extra driver disc, insert the disc, and then click OK or Next . The recovery program checks the additional drive and installs the necessary files.

    10. Cannot add the vmkernel nic: a specified parameter was not correct. vSphere CLI + ESXi 4

Hello. I try to add vmknic with frames in my distributed virtual switch.

I read the vSphere command-line Interface Installation and reference Guideguide:

      "vicfg-vmknic - a-i DHCP"vmk5"

      I see the error message:

Cannot add the vmkernel nic: a specified parameter was not correct.

      Vim.Host.VirtualNic.Specification.Ip

      What's wrong?

I tried all the combinations of parameters with the same result.

      Ok! I've found a workaround.

Since adding a vmkernel remote interface doesn't seem to work with DVS, I simply created one on a standard vSwitch and it then migrated to the DVS. And voila: the value 9000 MTU migrated intact with her! Here are the steps I followed:

      1. put the ESX host into maintenance mode - evacuate VMs manually if necessary

2 remove the VMKernel iSCSI/NFS to the DVS interface

      3. create a standard virtual switch with no physical cards. He has no need to be a VMKernel VM Networking switch is fine. Make a note of the name you gave to the PortGroup created on the new vSwitch.

4 using the remote control line, add the new interface vkernel specifying an appropriate jumbo MTU (9000) and the PortGroup on the standard new vSwitch. For example:

      esxcfg - vmknic.pl - Server

If you get 3 answers, everything works. If you get failures, something has gone wrong. Go back and check that the interface is configured correctly using the command list esxcfg - vmknic.pl-.

      Enjoy!

    12. Cannot issue the open disk

      Hi all

I have ESXi installed on our server. I received a few VM folders with our test WHAT VM inside our office in europe. Using the vSphere Client I downloaded the files for the virtual machine for the farm data store, but when I try to start the virtual machine, I get one:

Cannot open disk ' / vmfs/volumes/xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxx-xxxxxxxxxxx/VM_files/BASE_VM_xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxx/theapparentlymissingfile.vmdk ' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
The system cannot find the specified file.

I have gone through the forums here and on Google and tried several of the corrections proposed such as the removal of the. VMDK.lck file. There was another who proposed changing the vmx file and change the name of the file that is the same as the one I had.

The file is there, but for some reason, he doesn't see it. y at - there something I am missing being new to VMware. I have to start from scratch, if I can't get these working locally.

      Thanks in advance

You can download the http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1023856 tool (see "Accessories").

To convert the virtual disk to an ESXi supported format run

      VMware - vdiskmanager.exe - r 'Digipos book PC SP1.vmdk' t 4 "Digipos book PC SP1 - new.vmdk.

then download the two newly created files ("Digipos book PC SP1 - new.vmdk ' and Digipos book PC SP1-new - flat hard') on the ESXi host and change the settings for the virtual machine, i.e. to remove the bad virtual disk and add the right pair.

Please be aware that the resulting virtual disk will have a size of 40GB.

      Hello.

You will need to use a RDM in physical Compatibility Mode to achieve. As weinstein5 said, a VMDK cannot be greater than 2-to-512bytes. You can use the OS to spread over several 2 TB-512bytes VMDK, if that's what you really want.

      Good luck!
