Cannot add XP Pro Machine to the network current (mixed OS)

I was asked to add a laptop running XP Pro SP3 to a current network without wire/LAN:

  1. XP Pro SP3
  2. XP Pro SP3
  3. W7 Ultimate
  4. W7 Ultimate laptop
  5. W7 Ultimate laptop
  6. Laptop XP Home SP 2
  7. Laptop OSX 10.6
  8. Laptop XP Pro SP3 - it's the stubborn. It connects to the router to allow access to the internet and LAN connected printer. However, it will connect on the other computers on the network.

Each of these computers connected to the network with ease and can meet without any problem. All laptops to connect wireless, else connect via LAN.

They share all 3 printers - directly via a LAN port, two others through the proposed shared PC, they are connected to.

The last Windows laptop that I have connected was XP Home, and it immediately connected to the network, once the router password has been entered.

I tried everything, even to copy the settings from XP Pro SP3 desktop machines - still no joy. I'm obviously something wrong, or missing something, but have no idea what.

Someone at - it had a similar problem - I searched online and have not been able to find anything remotely resembling this, and the Support of MS site was not helpful either.

The only things I can think of are:

1. the awkward computer there another firewall or antivirus installed?

2. you disabled Simple file sharing in Folder Options > view tab > advanced settings at the end?

    Indianmale...

    Hello

    Not really...

For an environment hosted... If you can access the console of the host, you can always access the console of the virtual machine regardless of the State of the network outside of the console. VMware Workstation, Fusion and server all fall into this category.

For ESXi/ESX... you need a host outside to access the console of the virtual machine. ESX and ESXi not displayed graphics or VMs of their consoles and management devices. So, you need an external machine that can run the vSphere Client or access to the virtual machine via RDP, VNC according to Guest OS involved or SSH.

  • G530 causes intermittent network Drops for all Machines on the network

I have a new G530 (Vista Home Premium, 3 GB of RAM) that will expose the weird behavior. Whenever he is on my home network, it causes all machines on the network to lose Internet connectivity for a few seconds every 30 seconds or more. Everything on the network is fine, and then I connect the G530 - either turn on the wireless switch or connect a cable. Therefore, network connectivity is interrupted periodically.

    Here's what I know:

    • I have plugged and unplugged it for more than a week. It is this machine at the origin of the problem. I can repeat on order by commissioning wireless switch on Lenovo or plug the LAN cable.
    • The network works through a router DLink wireless/wired. The wireless part is encrypted WEP.
    • The machines on the network are a mix of Vista Premium, basic Vista, XP, Win2000 and a wireless HP printer. They all display the intermittent network problem when the Lenovo is connected.
    • Lenovo has the problem when it is connected.
    • I made repeated IPConfig / release--> / renew on all machines. At one point, I did a manual inspection and there is no duplicate IP addresses.
    • The Lenovo worked fine connected wireless to the network of the local public library.
    • A suggestion of DLink had to give the different names cable and wireless LANs. I tried. Problem persists.
    • It is not the modem; We went from LILY at the thought of this week of cable modem - thanks to some misleading advice from our DSL provider - the ADSL modem was dying. The problem is the same now with the cable modem as it was with the DSL modem.
    • I can see the problem on non-Vista machines easily because the task bar appears whenever the network connects or disconnects. (Vista has fixed this particular annoyance.) The message is that a network cable is unplugged.
    • It's the question even if the Lenovo is connected wirelessly or via Ethernet.

Any ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions? To cry on shoulders? Otherwise, it is a wonderful machine, but I need a computer, not a killer network...

    Thank you

    -Steve

It sounds like a setting on the XP machine for "simple file sharing". I think that you have to turn this configuration / OFF explicit sharing on each item you want shared. On a Pro machine, it's an easy setting

  • Sharing of virtual machines and the NETWORK adapter settings

I usually have multiple NICs per physical machine, and I often map more than one NETWORK card in a virtual machine. This does all work well with 'regular' virtual machines and virtual network Editor. I use 10.0.1 on linux 64-bit Workstation.

As soon as I share a virtual machine, the NIC mappings cannot be changed in any useful way. I can spend only NAT, HostOnly and connected by a bridge in a ComboBox control, without the ability to select a specific vmnet. Although connections are bridged, they are displayed as NAT, which makes no sense at all...

What is the reason for this? I'm doing something wrong? If this is the intended behavior, it's shared VMs useless for me...

    Kind regards

    Thomas

I reinstalled VMware Workstation and now I understand what happened.

I need ever - and HostOnly-setting in NAT network, so the first thing I usually do after installing VMware is to remove them and fills vmnet0 to eth0 and eth1 to vmnet1. This works perfectly well with non-shared virtual machines.

For shared virtual computers, this mapping has been messed up somehow. Now it seems to work fine, I removed all the vmnets and has created vmnet10-> eth0 and vmnet11-> eth1.

If the problem is solved for me; but I can't say how the maps I screwed up. I certainly had two bridged devices, but has been shown only a single bridged device.

  • Unable to connect my Officejet Pro 8600 to the network because of administrator settings

    Hello

Help, please.  How to get around this problem and unlock all the menu items that are locked?

    A milion, thank you

    D

    Hello derekd01,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you are unable to connect wireless Officejet 8600 because you receive a message "this feature has been locked by your system administrator. I will do my best to help you!

There is an administrator through the Embedded Web Sever settings, but in order to access it, it must be connected to a wireless network. Unfortunately, you are unable to access the wireless configuration. There are two options you can try:

    (1) you can connect an Ethernet cord, and then go to the Embedded Web Sever.

    (2) you can install the printer on your computer by a USB cable. Complete installation, and then follow this HP document convert a connected USB printer wireless. Once this operation is complete, you can access the Embedded Web Sever.

Once you get this printer, follow these steps in the Embedded Web Sever:

    (1) at the very top of the page, click on settings, then password settings
    (2) if there is a username and password, please remove this item and click on apply

Please post your results, I will be looking forward to hear from your part have a good night!

  • Cannot access any shared folder on the network of windows 7 Professional

    Hello

I have a very strange problem.

I have a home network with 4 computers.
I can share files from any computer to the other.

Recently, I bought a new laptop Lenovo E530 in with Windows 7 Professional installed on it.
The problem is that I can't access any shared folder on my home network by '\\com-name '.
I cannot yet access the folders on the computer that is shared from the inside, by specifying there name with the prefix "\".
However, I can ping or even make remote desktop on other computers on my network.
I can also access shared folders on my Windows 7 Professional from other computers.
Looks like there is something wrong with the configuration of my OS from Windows 7 Professional blocking access to any shared folder on my network.
I get the following error message:
    Windows cannot access \\comp-name
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, it could...
    Error code: 0 x 80070035
The network path was not found.
I tried to use the button to diagnose, but without success.
    Help, please

  • Machine on the network share, snapshot at the opening?

    Hello

I'm new on this, so apologies if I receive the wrong terminology.

I need to put some infrastructure in place to a Profiler configuration for applications in Citrix flow (although this info is probably not important to do this).

What I need is the following.

User turns on the workstation, and then tries to start a machine 2008R2 on a network share. A snapshot is then created, and the user is working on this snapshot. When you are finished, the user stops the machine and the snapshot is destroyed, leaving a pristine environment for the next user.

Is this possible? Is it possible to do it with a minimal amount of information provided by the user (scripts can help?).

    Thanks in advance.

install the virtual machine until you get the required state.
    then setall VMDK tononpersistent

This creates a snapshot too which is automatically deleted when the virtual machine stops - not necessary at all to script

    Hello

Add virtual machines to the inventory, I need to browse the data store, get him the virtual machine folder, click with the right button on the vmx file and add it to the inventory. If I have to do for 100 virtual machines, that it takes a lot of time.

Is there a way I can add multiple virtual computers to inventory collectively without doing it for each individual computer?

  • Cannot add an object style to the library directly

I can't add an object style from by dragging a style object to an indesign Library palette. Is this normal?

That is to say, to add an object style to the library, I have to drag an object that has this particular style of my my indesign library. Right?

Yes, it's true. Failed to add to a library of object Styles, but adding an object.

Add any object adds an object Style, Object Styles depending on the occasion, used the paragraph and character and the name Layer Styles Styles.

  • Cannot add an identity plate in the web

    Hello

I can add an identity plate in the print section, but is not in the web section. Is this just a button that I'm missing?

    Thanks for the screenshot sharing.

You have the style of provision as the Gallery of the grid and for this reason, that identity plate is not present in the Site Info Panel, which is the expected behavior.

Identity plate option is only available for the provision of Gallery Classic style.
