BI Publisher cannot connect to SQL Server.
Hello
We try to create a BI Publisher connection to the SQL Server database. However, we receive a message "could not establish a connection. We tried google to find a solution.
We don't know what the problem is. We can ping the SQL Server computer from the server of BI applications.
Apparently, it seems that the required JDBC driver files are missing. We use OBIEE version 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.6.0. How do we know if we have the right JDBC driver file? And also, where we must copy the JDBC driver/jar files to.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you and best regards,
Maury.
Yes 'Database driver class' is 'hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' is correct
and your connection string should like this "jdbc:hyperion:sqlserver://mysqlservername:1433; DatabaseName = master.
username = his
password = sa_password
If does not work, you can try 'other' in the type of driver, and the classpath of weblogic set to connect to SQL Server
doy, you know what should you do?

I recently reinstalled SQL Server and now I am unable to create the DSN in CF Admin. The SQL instance name changed when reinstalling. I tried to use the new name in CFAdmin, but get the following error:
"java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] the requested instance is not valid or is not running."
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] the requested instance is not valid or is not running. »
The instance is running and I can create a connection through the data (ODBC) Source tool in administrative tools, but I can configure in CFAdmin.
Thanks in advance for your advice!SP 4 corrects the problem.
Thanks to everyone for their help!

SQL * PLUS connects with SQL >; question
People,
I'm confused on the command. / sqlplus with Oracle database.
According to my understanding,. / sqlplus connected with SQL > using option 3: sysdba, sysoper, sysasm.
I connect with SQL > to run the rel853.sql script to create a table PSOPRDEFN but a field "OPERPSWDSALT" did not appear in the table PSOPRDEFN although it is in the Create Table statement.
I connect with SQL * in the directory/home/user/OracleDB_Home/bin as below:
$ export SYSTEM_PASS = AccessId/mypass$ export ORACLE_HOME = / home/user/OracleDB_Home
$ export ORACLE_SID = HRCS90
$. / lsnrctl start LISTENER
$. / AccessId/mypass sqlplus as sysdba
SQL > startup
SQL > @/opt/PT8.53/scripts/rel853.sql
SQL > select OPERPSWDSALT in the AccessId.PSOPRDEFN;
It returns: "OPERPSWDSALT": invalid identifier.
I checked the table PSOPRDEFN that the OPERPSWDSALT field did not appear in the table PSOPRDEFN.I tried the sysoper option as below:
$. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass as sysoper
SQL > startup
SQL > @/opt/PT8.53/scripts/rel853.sql
SQL > select OPERPSWDSALT in the AccessId.PSOPRDEFN;
It returns: "OPERPSWDSALT": invalid identifier.
The sysoper error is the same thing with sysdba error.
I tried the sysasm option as below:
$. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass as sysasm
He returned: connection refused.
Someone told me this connection as SYS causes this error. If not a sysdba, sysoper, or sysasm, use the command. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass cannot connect with SQL >.
My question is:
First of all, why is what OPERPSWDSALT did not appear in the PSOPRDEFN table while it is in the CREATE TABLE statement?
Seocond, if not use SYS which is one of the 3 options, how to run the command. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass to connect with SQL > so that CREATE TABLE PSOPRDEFN correctly?Thank you.

People,
Hello. Thanks much for the reply. I just do the commands below:
$ export SYSTEM_PASS = AccessId/mypass
$ export ORACLE_HOME = / home/user/OracleDB_Home
$ export ORACLE_SID = HRCS90
$. / lsnrctl start LISTENER
$. / AccessId/mypass sqlplus as sysdba
SQL > show user;
Its release: the USER is "SYS".
SQL > connect AccessId/mypass
Its output:
Error: ORA - 01034:ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
64 - Linux_x86 error: no such file or directory.
As we see above, unable to connect to the Oracle database AccessId.
My question is:
What to do on AccessId, so that it can connect to the Oracle database?
Thank you.
so much for the use that you refuse to actually use COPY it PASTE & so that we can see the whole session.
In the past, you did
> SQL > startup
Maybe the database is out of order & must be started.
do exactly as below (line by line)
ID
sqlplus
/ as sysdba
startup
connect AccessId/mypass
COPY the results from above then PASTE all back here

Able to connect to SQL Developer but not a toad - ORA-12154: TNS
My workplace uses TOAD as standard SQL tool to run against Oracle, although I prefer test and use SQL developer.
When you try to connect to a database in TOAD I get the following error
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name
I'm using the TNSNAMES file. ORA and I am able to connect through SQL Developer, no problem.
Also in the same file, I'm able to connect to the other TNS names, but all just not this one it seems.
I find it very strange, because it seems that for this name TNS one, I specifically can not connect through TOAD
I can connect to any other AMT via TOAD, and I can connect through SQL developer
I also tried a TNSPING and his returning in OK for the server and the connection seem just.
I am trying to connect to an Oracle 10 g with TOAD version 8.0.0.47 Server
Any ideas appreciated!I'm doing this from memory, but...
Oracle 10g database with TOAD version 8.0.0.47
I believe that your version of toad is too low for this version of Oracle. You should be able to confirm with QUEST software.
Best regards

My rule with Toad's (once you get past the version number), if you cannot connect using SQL, Toad will never work.

I installed Oracle Developer with success, but having bad connect to Sql more than command line, also unable to connect via the developer tools, I get a TNS: Connect timeout occurred. This happens also for the "Plus" Sql for Windows.
However, I can connect via the Sql Plus command window when it is executed from "Start-> all programs", but not when I first run the command window:

Connect SQL Developer, SQL * Plus can't
I installed Oracle Database Development VM VM: VM VirtualBox for developers & lt; / title & gt; & lt; meta name = & quot; Title & quot; content = & quot; VM VirtualBox for developers & q...
Added two adapters, one as a host-only, as NAT.
We add a few entries tnsnames.ora for network database servers.
Developer SQL inside the VM can connect to all three databases: XE, remote_db1 and remote_db2.
SELECT * FROM Dual using a remote connection returns the data immediately.
SQL * Plus inside the VM can connect to XE, but not to a remote server. It hangs just for awhile and finally back: ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
Outside of the virtual machine (on the host), Developer SQL (database connection Type) and SQL (sqlplus connection string) can connect to all three systems.
What is going on?
Brian Tkatch wrote:

Sounds like the hostname resolution failed.
A host name must be resolved to an IP address. If you use a host name in the TNS connection string, you need to make sure that it can be resolved to an IP address. With the help of the ping
command is an easy way to determine if the host name is resolved. Some listeners (such as remote control and headphones RAC), accepts a connection client and in response redirect the client to a different hostname (and port). For example, a remote listener can serve 10 cases (each with a different service name). The client connects, asking servcice5. The listener redirects the customer to hostname ora-Server5 on port 1521. The customer now tries to connect to ora-Server5, to resolve the hostname to an IP address and then make the call to connect.
If the listener can redirect the customer to a new host name - and the customer must be able to resolve the host name. The error that you get so don't always relates to the connection initial listener. It can also occur when the client driver follows the redirect to the listener and attempt a new connection to a new host.

Cannot see the developer plus sql or sql table
I created a folder in the application designer. Then I built the table. I can close the file and then find it in the application designer. But if I go to sql plus and sql developer, I do not see it. Am I missing a step?You can probably see all the tables of the sysadm because someone else give you good grant for objects of this existing on sysadm.
For the purpose of new or modified (drop + create) you should:
1. log in as sysadm and rungrant select on new_table_name to your_own_user;
2. connect with your own user and run
create synonym new_table_name for sysadm.new_table_name;
Then you will be able to query this table without using schema name alias.
Some admin also have a ddl trigger to make it automatically.
You can also work with a role and a public synonym if more than one user needs access to the objects of sysadm.Nicolas.

Oracle SQL Developer/Oracle 11 g/Windows 7 - cannot connect 'sys as sysdba'
Hello
I downloaded and installed SQL Developer 3.2.20.09, the latest version, separately from Oracle 11 g, because the version provided with Oracle 11 g did not work properly.
Now, I'm trying to connect SQL Developer 3.2 to my instance of 11g Oracle installed on Windows 7.
I can log in with the user name SYS AS SYSDBA using SQLPLUS, text bundled with Oracle 11g, with a password to null and without any problem.
However, when I try to connect to the same instance using the graphical tool based on Java, Oracle SQL Developer 3.2 I get this error:
Status: Failure-Test failed: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I already checked the computer management and I am already a member of administrators and 'ORA_DBA' groups.
I already checked tnsnames.ora, etc. and everything is indicated as it should.
I also checked my SID and it corresponds to what was named during the installation of Oracle 11 g.
Is someone can you please tell me why I can't connect using SYS AS SYSDBA?Connection to SQL Developer as the user SYS to Getting Started tutorial

Connection with SQL * more is not possible
Hello together,
I have a problem with my database and SQL Plus.
I can't connect to my DB via SQL Plus, I get the error message: > > ORA_12546: TNS: detonation verweigert (Permission denied) < <.
I tried it with several users. When I try to log in to enterprise manager or connecting to the DB through SQL Developer works very well with the user > > sys < <, only the SQL more connection does not work.
It works until yesterday that there are some problems with the DB and the processor and RAM were almost 100% occupied each.
We use the Version 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 64 bit Production on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Server.
I am running SQL Plus, Enterprise Manager and SQL Developer directly on the DB server.
When I start SQL Plus he asks me my username > > enter user name: < < and after that my password: > > password: < <.
A connection as seen in many forums or document on the internet like > > scott/tiger@ORCL < < never worked on my system, which is also confused me.
We have no listener.ora file in the folder: ORACLE_HOME/NETWORK/ADMIN only a sqlnet.ora with line > > SQLNET. AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) < < in it.

The sys user must connect as sysdba
have you tried
sqlplus 'sys@ORCL as sysdba'
or
sqlplus 'sys/yoursyspwd@ORCL as sysdba'
the first command should work without password for all users group ORA_DBA.
Scott, the user cannot also exists in your database.
