Cannot detach Firefox icon to Windows 7 taskbar - new facility.

I installed Firefox on a new laptop running Windows 7 today. It appears that the installation has a FF icon on my Windows 7 icon. Large. However, when I click on this icon, it adds a second FF icon beside the original and the other and the other for each session of FF that I opened. It obstructs the taskbar! My previous install simply "stacked" FF session icons in one place on the taskbar?

I have read several threads which suggest FF opening with the original on the taskbar icon. Then, right click the new icon and select "pin this icon to the taskbar. Then right-click of the original icon and select "remove this icon to the taskbar. That's the problem. When I right click the original icon, no additional options are displayed. Nothing! He says only: "Mozilla Firefox".

So, basically, I can't delete the original icon at all? Any suggestion would be appreciated!

jscher2000. Thank you once again. Well, I solved it, but by chance. I restarted the PC and the icon disappeared from the taskbar! Weird. I created a new start menu, and no, it works as expected.

On your previous post, you are probably right. FF did not place the icon in the taskbar. Got dragged there that has been placed on the desktop. Good fishing.

Not sure why the previous icon would cooperate not at all on the first time. Just after the restart. Maybe a registry setting?

Thanks again!

  • Why doesn't Firefox support the Windows 7 taskbar properly.

Firefox does not work in static form of the Windows 7 taskbar button. When you close the main window of Firefox, the downloads window stays open. It is against the expectations of the design of the Windows 7 task bar.

Double clicking on the icon of Firefox on the desktop (or by using the start menu) will allow another "main" window of Firefox to open - even if the download window is still open.

This problem is fixed in the latest alpha of Firefox versions, so that the 'hand' last window is closed leave the application - even if windows as downloads are still active. • Problem opening 26.0 Firefox from the Windows 7 taskbar.

I have Firefox pinned to the taskbar in Windows 7 on the bottom of my screen. I use a desktop PC. Most of the time, when I click the icon it opens Firefox without any problems. However, occasionally, when first, I turn on my computer and click on the Firefox icon in the taskbar, it gets highlighted but does not appear the little circle and the highlight fades without opening the browser. When that happens, I can not yet turned off my computer without pressing the button on the tower. This happens only the first time that I open the browser in the morning, and it seems to happen every two weeks. Any thoughts on what is happening? I just had a virus removal made, so that shouldn't be the problem.

  • Why the title bar on Firefox and the Windows 7 taskbar let distorted image when a list of folders crosses one or the other?

I use a lot of folders in my bookmarks list. I noticed that with AMD and Nvidia cards based on video, that if I use a folder in my bookmarks list that a lot, a lot of bookmarks, the bookmark list will cross the box title bar of Firefox and the taskbar in Windows 7 and down. When this happens, the title bar on Firefox versions 8-10 and the taskbar at the bottom let images from the list of bookmarks which do not disappear (at least that I have use F11 mode full screen to clear away from the image and bring it back to normal). If I use a Matrox video card, it doesn't. Why is this?

It's almost as if Yahoo / HP does not allow me to choose my browser and search engine... anyone know how to fix this?   I've never had this happen before.

    Thank you!!!

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

In this particular case, HP and Yahoo keep the computer to become the Chrome browser. Especially when you mentioned that triggered security a software alarm, this means that most likely you tried to download a fake copy of the Chrome browser and thanks be to God, the security software has prevented to install. It is quite common nowadays because it's popular software and impersonations exist. They sometimes appear on the top of the search result in the search engines, and they do not lead to the site from another server but the official seller.  In addition, if this is not the case, your computer may also have already been infected by certain pests that redirect your traffic to fake Chrome.

There is only one official place to download this product - official site of Google/sub-sub-site

Click here-online https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html and choose the blue download Chrome button in the middle of the page

Follow the instructions on the screen.

  • WINDOWS 8.1 - NEW FACILITY ON A PARTITION?

    Hello

I have Win 8 Enterprise installed on my laptop but a bunch of files on the same in other (D, E & F) partitions of the same disk. Seeking to have a clean fresh install of Win 8.1 Professional on the C partition. Is this possible?

Secondly, I have win 8 Ent be upgraded to Windows 8 Pro that is that my rest installed applications?

If you have business installed why would you downgrade to Professional (is it a trial version)?

You can keep business if it is not a trial version install Windows Pro 8.1 on one of your other partitions (after removing all data on this partition), or install a second drive and install Pro on the 2nd disk. The result would be a Dual Boot System, allowing you to choose which version you want to start.

And to answer your specific question, you could install Windows 8.1 Pro (clean, updated installation to date is not possible) and then reinstall your applications and data files.

Suggest that create you a backup before you make changes to the entire disk. This will allow you to get back all that only in case something goes wrong.

  • Duplication of Firefox icons on the Windows 7 taskbar

Citing the Forum Windows 7: http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/256708-duplicating-icons-taskbar.html

    Hello

I searched high and low for a way to do this, but I can't seem to find anything. First of all, I don't want to install or download any program whatsoever. I want to do with what I have, aka Windows 7.

Let's say I have 2 or more profiles Firefox. I want to open them in separate windows. This is done easily with - no.-remote, correct? Well, if I want to open them in two different icons on the taskbar?

Currently, I open both profiles, but they will be grouped in the Firefox icon. I don't want them be grouped. I could customize my taskbar and choose something other than "always combine, skin tags. Unfortunately, I don't want labels. And I want every other icon to combine. It's only the different profiles in Firefox I want to separate.

    Is this possible?

You can try to do a copy renamed only the firefox.exe file in the current Firefox program folder to see if it works.

If this does not work, you can try to copy the whole Firefox program folder to another folder (Mozilla Firefox2) to see if that works (may as well fail because the firefox2.exe program will still report as the same application in the Windows OS) and firefox.exe program is only a draft that checks if other Firefox programs are already running without a - no.-remote switch and load the real application if necessary.

  • Firefox icons in the taskbar Windows 7

I have a FF icon in the Windows 7 taskbar. When I click on it, a second icon appears when the homepage is open. Following clicks on the first icon opens the tabs that appear in the second icon. Also if I open a new tab (using the '+' or via a bookmark). The first icon does not show the preview of open tabs - second icon again.
    It didn't happen in FF9

    I found this solution - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/916677
However, I think it's strange to have to do that every time I update.

  • "Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

    missing volume control

volume control was gone. I tried to go into my control panel to use it, but I get an error that says:

"Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

I have lost my Windows XP disc in a move and can't reinstall the file to a disk, how to fix this?

When you use certain features sounds and Audio devices, you see a message like this:

Windows cannot display the control of volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

It seems that the c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe file is missing.

This may occur if your antivirus/antimalware application thinks the file is suspicious and quarantines (effectively delete) the file.  You can replace the missing file with a backup copy of the file that is in another folder on your system.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive...

We know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Using the Explorer, search for or navigate to the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Locate the sndvol32.exe file, right-click, choose copy (it copies the file to the Windows Clipboard).

If your Solution Explorer settings are not set to display file extensions, you will see only a file called 'sndvol32' which has an icon that looks like to the volume control slider (this is the file you need).

If the file is missing in the dllcache folder, look for a copy of the file in this folder:

    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

Browsing from a level in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32

Right-click on an empty area in the window of c:\windows\system32 and choose Paste to paste in the missing file where it belongs.

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

Now try your features sounds and Audio devices.

Note that run sfc/scannow will not replace the missing file because it is not this that sfc/scannow does.

Like you, I found I couldn't yet launch FF28 and therefore could not try to create a new profile or add ons disabled.

Taking the advice of another poster and completely uninstalled FF28.

Then went to the site of the beta:

Installed FF29 (currently 29.6) and had no other problems.

She's still all extensions / add ons I have tried to run with FF28 but opens and runs without hassle.

Can only assume FF28 had some problems for some operating systems that are not there in FF29.
