Satellite L10 - no DVD/MPEG/DivX playback

I can't play a DVD or file MPEG/DivX on the Satellite L10 of my aunt. Further when you start some games, I get error messages like that Direct3D has failed. When you try to playback MPEG/DivX with WinAmp only sound can be heard but not video.

Trying to read DVD with for example PowerDVD I got an error message (something like "mode not supported to display, please change the resolution, depth of color or frequency).
Strangely playing DVD worked perfectly because I configured the L10 before shipping to my aunt. She has very bad computer knowledge and therefore no new drivers or anything else have been installed.

I checked the resolution and try other resolutions and color depths, but it did not help. There must be a problem with Direct3D but I have not found where check/change the Direct3D settings. I would setup unintentionally new graphics drivers, because I know that the 'old' has worked well and the L10 is about 1500 km and I do everything with the remote control software - if something happens, we have a great difficulty.

Someone know this problem or has any advice?
Thanks in advance for any answer!

Hello

Well, Microsoft DirectX is a set of technologies designed to make computers based on Windows a perfect platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements, such as color graphics, video, 3D animation and sound surround.

You can try to check which version of DirectX is installed on your device and check if the latest version is available. I think the latest version is 9.0 c

To start the program, please type in the dxdiag command window
Hope this helps.

Good bye

    Hello Daoude

In my opinion, you have a bad driver. You can find the most recent version of the driver from the official website of Toshiba. The version of the driver for windows xp is 3.1.0.0 (last updated 02/03/05).

  • DVD double layer on Toshiba Satellite L10?

    Hello
Recently, I bought a Toshiba Satellite L10. How will I know if the DVD recorder has got the new system of double layer? It is not either written in the manual user, nor on the drive of DVD/ROM. there, he said: DVD + ReWritable, whereas it is said on the DVD, I bought: DVD + R DL. So if there is no 'DL' written on my drive doesn't mean it's doesn't DVD double layer?
    I hope you can help,

    Hello

Yes, I think that it is possible, because the L10-189 has a DVD Super Multi drive installed.
Go to a service partner, they can build in the player for you. Otherwise, you will lose your warranty.

I have a Satellite L10 with a DVD super multi drive. It can read DVDs and DVD ROM

I thought maybe it was a cable connected the drive itself, but if it's that I need how out of the car and how to support.

I tried updating the driver and uninstall it then reinstall the drive, but I still have the same problem.
Cannot use the accompanying software as is all the cd.

    Hello

In most cases the entrance of e/s, error message is related to a hardware malfunction (CD/DVD drive).
The readers of the lens laser can not calibrate properly and therefore it can not read the CD inserted.
These errors are not uncommon and occur mostly after a long period of use due to a material stressed.

    But let's check the last possibility of solution;
Go to Device Manager and remove the drive from the list of devices CD/DVD.
Then start the registry (regedit) and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then, restart the computer and check if it of possible to read CDs.

    Hello

I Don t have a clue why the machine will stop automatically and I can't give you a quick solution, but I can give you an idea how to make some accurate diagnosis:

Remove the newly installed module and try again. Then give some feedback if it worked. If not, he should discuss more about this issue, would appreciate some comments from you.

  • Satellite L10-194 cannot run after recovery

Hello! I used my Satellite L10-194 for a few years, and he started to be really slow, I decided to reinstall the system (recover) to make it cleaner and faster.
I found my recovery of product L10 DVD - ROM, but when I finished the system restore would not start. I tried the recovery for some time, and it does not help. Whenever I try to start the computer, when it goes to load the system it just turns off (I think that it is something like the blue screen flashes for a second).

I checked the disk file image in advanced mode and HARD, and that's OK. But when I do HDD-> image in advance mode, after it is sometimes a moment when I have access to the command line. After getting "dir C:" I don't see a Windows directory (?), when restarting the computer does not work as usual. I'm doing something wrong?

I tried another CD of product recovery of the second Toshiba laptop that I have, and it works, it installs Windows but without pilots and things (it's a completely different model from Toshiba). What should I do? I'm not sure if the use of system preinstalled for model is the right idea (and legal)?

I had some problems with my front L10, and I had to change the motherboard. In service, what they said that they can't find a motherboard identical like that in my L10, so they used some different model. It's maybe the problem of recovery does not work why?

    PS.
Sorry for my English, please correct me in my errors, to help me improve the language :)

    > I had a few problems with my front L10, and I had to change the motherboard. In service, what they said that they can't find a motherboard identical like that in my L10, so they used some different model. It's maybe the problem of recovery does not work why?

I think that this is the reason why your laptop does not start after the recovery procedure.
Seems that the drivers that are part of the image are not compatible with the new motherboard.
Maybe the driver chipset or make sure you graphics card drivers some worries and windows crashes before starting the system
Maybe you could star the windows in safe mode. Press F8 just after pressing the power button / stop. Then choose Safe mode.
In safe mode, uninstall the chipset driver and the graphics driver and then try to start it again.

If that does not help, then install windows using a clean Microsoft CD.
Pilots should be placed on the page of European driver of Toshiba.

    welcome them

  • 'Bad Machine' error when I start the recovery on Satellite L10 media

    Hello...

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10-103 and I want to make the recovery, since I have constant errors and my wireless does not work.

When I put on CD, everything is ok, I press F12 and get the choice when I want to access computer. I select the CD/DVD drive. That produces the recovery starts and I get this error message:

"Wrong Machine! This software is designed for personal computers TOSHIBA '

    What's wrong with it?

    Hello

Are you sure that the recovery CD you are using is designed for Satellite L10 - 103 to 110%?
    Please check this!

But if you use the same recovery CD that came with the laptop, and you still get the same error message, then the false DMI information that is stored on the motherboard might be responsible for this error message and might prevent to recover.

This can occur if the motherboard has been replaced and that the technician has not updated the DMI string.

  • Carpet * a/Panasonic UJ-830 s satellite L10

    Hello

I was put in with the carpet * a reader of DVD-RAM UJ-830 s mounted on my Satellite L10 for a few years, because I have used in a extent the laptop somewhere and have had my external USB DVD - RAM drive still available. However; now I am in the situation where I'm moving around more and am not always able to have my external hard drive with me and make me more frustrated by the performance of the carpet * player.

I use what is widely regarded as the best available DVD + R media, namely Verbatim 16 x Taiyo Yuden dye, and the UJ-830 s offers only write a 2.4 x. application of Toshiba technical support asking, nea pleading for an update of firmware are met with the response "will be there, but we cannot say when.

When asked if there was an upgrade of the hardware available, told me that "this is not recommended because of possible compatibility issues".

Surely Toshiba must have the necessary information, either:
    (a) output a status update for the UJ-830 s firmware so that it recognizes new media correctly
    (b) provide a compatible hardware upgrade

Anyone with ideas on how to sort this point, or which may suggest some media 8 x good quality that works well with this player, please post. I would also like to hear from someone who has put a new DVD writer (i.e. not original) in a laptop and has successfully obtained work as I am tempted just to try and see.

    Thank you

    Midders

    P.S. I found a list here http://atg.wfu.edu/technotes/dvdmedia/ but can't find compatible 8 x media to buy it!

What to say all 100% compatible CD and DVD media are mentioned in the user manual.
To my knowledge these media work and are 100% compatible with the laptops drive

But note; the operating manual only provides a list of manufacturers of CD/DVD and NOT CD DVD sellers.

Please check this thread and posting created by Jeffrey:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=99980&

However, the manual provides a list of the CD/DVD compatible readers that can be used with the Satellite L10 laptop.
Should check the page 5 of the operating manual!

  • Satellite L10: Need compatible firewire PC card

Bought a Toshiba Satellite L10 in June 2005. Didn't know much then, but I told the seller that I wanted a phone that allows me in the future to buy a mini DV camcorder, and then transfer movies on the laptop and make my own films.

After I finally buy a camcorder and make a few films now, I noticed that the laptop has no port for a firewire cable. The so-called IEEE 1394 port does not exist on this computer.

There is an empty slot of the PC card on the laptop that has the following specifications according to the manual,
A PC card slot that corresponds to a 5 mm type II card. Possible to use a 16-bit PC card and CardBus PC card.

Y at - it a PC card on the market that I could buy and install that would allow me to then transfer movies from my camcorder in digital format of the source.

Today, I have to solve the problem by going around it and send the video and audio output with analog cables using a Dazzle DVD Recorder box that transfers to digital format, and then via a USB port to the computer.

But I'm afraid I'm losing the quality of the data on movies by doing this, if this is possible I'd be very happy to know.

    Thanks for helping out
