Cannot factory reset Airport Express

I am unable to run any type of reset on my Airport Express (2nd generation).  The LED will blink SOS (......) in a strange color - amber not green/No.  It's kind of a mixture between the two colors, resulting in a light yellow/green.  Sounds like it could be a fatal mistake.  Anyone who has seen this?  If so, solutions?

Unfortunately, this indicates that feeding inside the Express did not, and the device will need to be replaced.

On the Express warranty is one year, but if you happen to have AppleCare in place on one of your Mac and it has been less than three years from the date of purchase of the Express, the product will be so covered.

  • Cannot find the Airport Express Airport utility

    Hello

I have a firmware running extreme Airport 7.6.7. 6.3.6 and one Airport utility Terminal Airport Express (model A1392). I have access to my system on a Macbook pro. Also have the app on my iPhone.

My Airport Express and extreme talked to each other and have been broadcast on the Airport utility. However, I had to change my wifi password and the network password. After that, the Airport extreme restarted. After the reboot, my Express was no longer recognized by my network. The Express has a light orange and blinks repeatedly. I can't connect to the express to address the issue of amber light.

I have read many posts on the forum. However, I still have to find a solution. How to connect the airport utility to the Airport express?

Thanks for any help, you can make it,

You have changed the password for WiFi on AirPort Extreme... but... the AirPort Express Terminal was previously programmed to connect by using your password in the "old".  The Express is lost, unable to find the network at all and doesn't know what to do.

You can help the AirPort Express by doing a hard reset on the AirPort Express to clear the old network settings and passwords, and then configure the Express again to connect to your network 'nine' with the 'new' password.

After the back if you don't know how to proceed.

  • Reset to factory Airport Express?

I have the Ethernet cable installed throughout the House in large part driven by current wireless issues. I have a new Airport Extreme 802.11ac and three airport expresses to 802.11n. Is it advisable to make me a reset factory at the Airport Express before their reconfiguration in a mobile network? Any other tips and tricks to look out for? I hope that this will lead to greater stability in the Apple TV streaming, but also performance of Airplay (i.e. dropouts) three airport expresses. Thank you!

Is it advisable to make me a reset factory at the Airport Express before their reconfiguration in a mobile network?

Yes, given that configuration utility "Assistant" Apple AirPort requires airports to be reconfigured are in a factory default state.

Any other tips and tricks to look out for?

Assuming you have tested to make sure that the Ethernet connections are working properly, the installation process is extremely simple and intuitive.

Put each Express to default settings

Connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Express Terminal

Click the WiFi on your Mac menu and then click on AirPort Express to the new AirPort Base Station registration

When you click on AirPort Express, the configuration wizard "" will take a few seconds to automatically provide the correct configuration

Type a device name you want to call the AirPort Express

Click Next, and the wizard will put up everything for you automatically and correctly

Cick is when you see the message Setup is complete... and you're done with this Express

Set up the other two one at the same time expresses exactly the same way

  • Old Airport Express lost after reset of the router, the connection cannot be seen/accessed

    the train:

-Mid 2009 Macbook Pro, OS Yosemite airport 6.3.5 10.10.5, utility

-Existing wifi network via a former Ubiquiti AC wifi or router which gets internet radio antenna on the roof of the local ISP.

-old (1st gen.) A1084 Airport Express used only as a customer to listen to the music of the said Macbook.

I am a musician who has been using my old AEX to listen to the music and the recording via Airplay and Airfoil for my Roland onstage for years without problem. I don't remember how I initially put in place, but I think it's as a customer only... IE, it broadcast as its own wireless network, or extend my network wifi etc, I just use it for listening to music.

Well, a week earlier, a disgruntled rogue ex-my local ISP hacked their radio tower and all the customer routers turned into useless bricks (and also all our wifi network names changed to a name that begins with "mother" and ends by "-ers", but that's another story).

Local ISP technicians have managed to get my router all re - set up and working, but I had to reconfigure my wireless devices (example: wifi printer) from scratch to be able to connect again.

The tenacious hold on is this old Airport Express.

I try to use the instructions found online to get connected again, but nothing does.

Yes, I tried pressing the Reset button for 10 seconds, etc... He just goes at once orange flashing or sometimes solid orange light, and don't see the Airport utility. I tried to plug its ethernet port to the router's LAN port to see if the Airport utility, would see no change, Airport utility requires no base stations found. It has no Airport icon in my menu bar and no Airplay icon in any relevant application such as iTunes.

Remember that in past I was able to reset/reconnect after network changes, it seems to me (I don't remember how). BTW, its location is located a few feet from the router, in order to hang it up through ethernet is easy if need be.

Once again, I only want to not to listen to the music and the tracking records of my Macbook. Roland aren't in a convenient place for an electrician. As you can tell the age of my stuff, I'm a starving musician, don't want to have to buy something new.

  • Cannot set up old Airport Express

To use the old Airport Express (1st generation) to expand the WiFi / coverage, as it has been used until a couple of years.  New network and password now.

I plug it, I get the amber light flashing, I ran soft, hard and factory resets. The problem is that when I try to go to the airport created (in iOS), I get a message that "...". the AE named... .cannot be implemented with this software. Go to apple.com/support for more information. ». I'm fine here!  How I can put it up, or is there an incompatibility of the fundamental technology that effects all 1 St gen Airport Express.

    Pieter

To use the old Airport Express (1st generation) to expand the WiFi / coverage, as it has been used until a couple of years.

By 'first generation' are you referring to the 802.11 g or first generation of the 802.11n base station Express? I guess by your comments that it of the former. Unfortunately, Apple does not provide a version of AirPort Utility for iOS devices that can support these older devices.

You will need a Mac running OS X Snow Leopard or an earlier version, or to a Windows XP / 7 PC to do,.

  • Airport Express do not reset

My parents have a problem with their Airport Express (latest generation, redeemed in 2014).  We had a storm yesterday and dropped their internet.  I went to try to reset their router, but it will not reset at all.  The indicator light remains just orange/amber and when I try to do any sort of reset (soft, hard, factory) there's just orange/orange and never flashes as it should when it is set to zero.

    Is this thing toast?

Would not be the end of the world as they asked me how to get a better signal in the yard and told them that probably they needed a larger router.  Nature may have forced this issue.

Unfortunately, a solid amber status LED light seems to indicate a power supply for the base station. If you have already tried all types of reset, the chances are very good, as the storm has damaged the device and must be replaced. Sorry!

  • Do a factory reset on my AirPort Extreme 802.11n resets my country code?

Do a factory reset on my AirPort Extreme 802.11n resets my country code?

Wireless Diagnostics warns on codes of countries in conflict.

I ve got an AirPort Express 802.11n and an AirPort Extreme 802.11n

The country code of the Airport Express is ok, but Airport Extreme shows me different options.

    Any suggestions?

    Please

A factory default reset will set the area code of the AirPort Extreme back to the initial setting that it was when it was new, but this should not be necessary because you can change the country setting without having to perform a factory default reset.

You can see the options available for your AirPort Extreme by opening AirPort Utility, by clicking on the image of the AirPort Extreme, and then click Edit in the window that appears.

Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the window, and then click Wireless Options near the bottom of the window. Click on the country selection box to see the options available for your AirPort Extreme country.

Apple is doing to "regionalize" airport routers, so, for example, that if you bought the AirPort Extreme in the AirPort Express to the United States and Europe, the country on the extreme options will only show of European countries, so that the country on the version options American Express shows countries in the Western hemisphere.

  • Cannot find Airport Express network

    Facts:

    Cox Internet

The combination Netgear modem/router. Best a Cox sold.

Old version of the Airport Express, which is connected to the router via an ethernet cable.

A variety of Mac, iPad, iPhones.

I used my Express to listen to music through Airplay outside on my patio, and for a few years its has worked well.

    Not been well.

Light is green and it and it seems to be ok. But I can't see the Express one of my devices.

I did all the obvious things like the modem reset, reconfigure the Express to factory settings, etc.

The best I can do, it's that if I reset (or unplug just for a minute or two) I can see the Express for about 3-5 minutes then it goes away and no longer appears on any device.

It drives me crazy and I am very frustrated!

The first thought that comes to mind is that the average lifetime of an AirPort Express is about 3 years old.

As a general rule, food is the element that starts to head South, and in this case, the Express struggled to maintain a connection. Not much you can do about it other that replace the Terminal AirPort Express.

Personally, I don't think that I've never had an Express go 3 years before it had to be replaced, but some users have better luck.

Fortunately, Apple has a 14 day no questions asked return policy, so if you decide to try a new Express and it does not solve the problem, you can return the product for a full refund.

  • Cannot set pswd on 1st gen Airport express

    Hello

My modem was just reset to factory settings and so I did the same with my airport express. My wi - fi network is now open to the public. I can't set a password for it. When I launch the Airport utility, it is not the base station. The Internet icon is green, so I have a wi - fi connection, I can remember the name and the password for the AE so I'm online, but once again, no security. I tried to delete the old setting but as soon as I plug the Express in it becomes visible.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I tried d/ling the last Airport utility, but it would allow me to run it. I'm running a 1.8 GHz macbook air. Yosemite

    Thanks in advance.

You probably have a much older version of the AirPort Express, which was used until Apple started to use the generation of naming for products in 2008.

Please locate the model number of the AirPort Express to see exactly what you have. Its on the side of the Express... difficult to see with gray inscription on a white background... so you need good lighting and reading glasses.  The model number starts with an 'A' follow-up of four digits.

You can see A1084 or A1088 who are now less than 8 years and more likely 10 +.

Just to make things confusing, Apple named A1264 from the airport, the 1st generation model version, because it was the first Apple router using wireless "n" faster in time.

If you have the A1084 or A1088 of the Express version, the good news is that still works. Most of these models are dead a long time ago.

The bad news is that because it is a much older product, you need the older software to be able to implement and administer the devices.  This means that you must use a Mac under Leopard (10.5.x) or Snow Leopard (10.6.x), or a PC that has AirPort Utility for Windows installed on the device.

  • Airport Extreme (ME918LL/A) must be Factory Reset after power cycling

whenever I power cycle the router (at the suggestion of Cox), I end up having to reset completely by holding the small button in the back (for factory reset).

after power failure cycling or power (it is on a surge protector) he will be a solid clear amber and not actually broadcast all networks.  several fun power do not help, the only thing that works is a clean factory reset.  THEN trying to set up the network using an iphone 6 s (macbook air and mac mini/PC portable airport utility never works) it will take two or three tries, even if I am standing less than 5 feet from the base station, in clear visibility.

its really begins to age, Wastin' 30 minutes each time that the router is the bike power

AirPort Extreme is defective and must be replaced. Please contact the Apple Support for a replacement unit.

  • Cannot complete the installation express airport using iOS.

I go to Wi - Fi and find the aiport express under the heading "set up the new airport base station. I can access the quick screen to create my new network. Put in my info and it says creating this Airport Express to create a network. It's when things go wrong.

It seems stuck "to search the new network for a long time. Then he said: an unexpected error has occurred, try again. At this point it I run the Setup again, that the error occurs because I'm trying to connect to the EA. I have to reset the AE to get another shot at the implementation of the new network.

The modem is showing everything is fine. I bought the AE because he said that I could set up through my iPhone. It's very frustrating.

Normally, the installation on the iPhone and iPad software works well and is in fact more reliable software installation on a Mac, it is therefore possible that you have a faulty AirPort Express... just as I did a few months ago.

However, if you want to try the installation a few times however, we can do it. We assume that you have verified that you have a good Ethernet cable connecting the modem and the AirPort Express, correct?

Can you provide the number of brand and model of the modem you are trying to use with the AirPort Express?
