Cannot open jpeg images

My "MSPaint" icon does not appear and cannot open the images.  Do not have disc XP home but have a professional XP.  Advice requested

Start | All programs | Accessories. Do you see the painting listed? If Yes, do a right click on it and T send | Desktop (create shortcut).

You want to open .jpeg files with paint instead of a program like Windows Picture and Fax Viewer? Whatever it is, create an association to file as well.

1. If an attachment, download and save it to the desktop.
2. right click on the saved file.
3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
4. click on: choose [default] program.
5. Select: Paint or other photo look an program.
6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
7. click on OK.

Cannot open jpeg images in my email.  They are deformed with a grey block. I see only a tiny portion of the upper part of the image.  Tried to save the image on my disk hard but could not be opened.  For example: If the size of the image, I'm saving about 800 K, I'll save the image (that I can not open) in a folder on my hard drive.  When I check the properties of the image, it is much smaller, around 8 or 9 K.  Spent an hour on the phone with HP, but couldn't find a solution.  When starting my computer in Mode without fail and go to my email account, I can see the full image.  Would appreciate suggestions in deca a system recovery.  Thank you

    Hi Larry,

Cannot open any jpeg full image. I'll help you with this problem.

    1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    2. what security software is installed on the computer?

    3. are you able to open any image with other file extensions?

    4. what application you use to open the images?

As you can see the full image in safe mode, let's try the following steps.

    Method 1.

A clean boot to test if any element of service or third party application startup is causing this issue.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Once you have finished troubleshooting, follow step 3 in the article to start on normal startup.

    Method 2.

You can also try disabling the firewall and check if that helps.

Turn the firewall on or off Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

Note: You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.

    Method 3.

You can run the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.

    Microsoft safety scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning of Security Scanner: there could be a loss of data while performing an analysis using the Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate viruses as appropriate.

    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot open jpeg image

I use Adobe photoshop 7.0 and usually when I open a jpeg image it just opens but some jpeg images will not open correctly. There is this image to jpeg when I try to open it it either displays an error message that it is not the right type of file or shows a dialog box, as if I'm trying to open a new blank page custom and wonder what size, transparency, etc. and no matter what I select always opens a blank page and I couldn't see the image that is supposed to be there. In other programs, it will open normally and show normal jpeg image in the image viewer or GIMP image editor but curiously won't open in Adobe Photoshop. I tried to open the same file in the GIMP image editor and open the file but when I try to save the file, strangely he advises me to export the file before you save it. I think that the jpeg file may have the invisible layers that photoshop can't handle, but I could not get rid of the layers correctly. I tried to flatten the image and to export the file to a normal jpeg file and remove all the invisible layers, but even after all this, when I save it as a normal jpeg file and open it again in adobe photoshop it still cannot open the file. Anyone know how I can force the program to display the image and or get rid of it permanently from the weird layers or markers that prevented it to open in Adobe Photoshop?

Thank you for your help Nancy. Your process worked almost completely. The exception is that when I tried to copy the image to a Web page as Firefox (I have not internet Explorer), it became not the Adobe Photoshop Clipboard and therefore could not be pasted. However, I simply recorded the image of a Firefox window as a different file name and that solved the problem. Now the copied image can be opened in Adobe Photoshop. Thank you for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Jon

  • Cannot open an image of PS. I think that the file has been corrupted?

Well, I'm an artist and I use Photoshop to draw. I was in the middle of working on a drawing, and then my computer crashed. What it a few times and I saved the image fairly recently, so I was not too concerned. But when I tried to open the file after I restarted my computer it says "could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop Document." I tried to see if I could open on Sai and it wouldn't let me (and Yes, SAI is comparable with PS files i ' v open PS files it several times before). I tried to copy the file and open the file copied, but that did not work ethier. How can I fix? I'm quite upset because I lost all my progress in the arts, especially when I liked how it came out.

    Thanks for any response.

  • Downloaded Camera Raw 6.2 day but still cannot open raw images

I followed all the steps as described on this page: Adobe - Photoshop Elements: for Windows: Camera Raw 6.2 update but for some reason I can't open yet. CR2 files. My camera (Canon Rebel T3i) is on the list of supported files. What should I do? I use Windows and I have Photoshop elements 8.0.

You need a camera raw 6.4 for your camera. It is compatible with PSE8 Word. You must upgrade to PSE13. Otherwise, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the universal Raw format Adobe and the files will open in PSE8 (keep your originals as backups and for using the camera the software factory)

Download Windows (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.6

Download Mac (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.6

You can convert an entire folder of images raw with a single click. See this quick video tutorial:

It's actually probably is to wait and there is still ANOTHER option of configuration, you should check...

In Photoshop, go to Edit - Preferences - Camera Raw...

Down near the bottom is the place that you specify your preferences for processing of JPEG and TIFF files.  If you want both or either open directly in Photoshop, change the settings to "Disabled"...
