Cannot pin or loose most of the things from the taskbar / / Win7

Hi people, I have an apparently strange issue where I can't PIN or loose most of the things in my taskbar. The generic search has many similar situations but none of them seemed exactly the same and none of the listed solutions worked for me or seemed appropriate.

Symptoms/findings

  • When you drag the icon 'Documents' from the library of Windows Explorer in the taskbar for example, I see "Pin to Windows Explorer" as expected.
  • Nothing else seems to work like / expected.  There is no context of rt - click on "Pin to taskbar" anywhere including the icons on the desktop or the start menu.
  • I can't for example remove Visual Studio from the taskbar.  (I must have had it there somehow in the past.)
  • "PIN to Start Menu" appears for most / all of the selections.  It's just pin/detach from the task bar which seems to be down.

Any ideas?

Here is the answer!

Here was an entry that he skipped.  I don't remember exactly what it was, something like "NoPinTaskBar".

PIN Windows Explorer in the taskbar and you can right click to get your recently viewed files.

You can also add toolbars to the taskbar.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows7/add-a-toolbar-to-the-taskbar

A toolbar can be any folder in Windows Explorer. So you can put any selection of files to a user created folder and access these files quickly thanks to a simple icon in your taskbar.

However, don't go overboard you can quickly run out of space on the taskbar. My toolbars are interspersed between the program pinned to the taskbar, tasks and links with the Noification area to the right. The section of the program will go to a second line below according to the needs and so you can limit the space allocated to programs if you wish.

  • Cannot pin a program uninstalled in the bar of

I uninstalled a program that has an icon on the taskbar.  Now that the program is uninstalled, I can't remove the icon.  My first inclination was to do what you always do to remove an icon from the taskbar, right-click on the icon and click "unpin this program from the taskbar".  However, you cannot right click on this icon.  To the left by clicking on the icon generates the error message: "problem with shortcut: this action is only valid for products that are currently installed."

It seems that the only way to remove this icon is to do it manually via Windows Explorer.  I can't find the directory that contains the shortcut.  Is - such a directory exist or should I take additional measures outside the GUI?

    Much help appreciated!

PS: Yes, I rebooted my computer!

Update: I solved the problem.  I uninstalled the application and then reinstalled the application.  For some reason any option to "detach from taskbar" was now available on the shortcut when it had not been before.  Strange behavior, but it is now fixed.

Thanks for the suggestions.  This is a good resource for Windows issues.

  • Pinned and recent articles on the taskbar takes some time to display

I have Excel 2016, 2016 Word and Notepad made the fallen on my taskbar with different points, that I use frequently pinned in their right click menu. Recently, when I right click I just get the bottom lines two (program name and options off) and no files listed. I wait 30 seconds to a minute and my list of files appears. Menus on other programs pinned to the taskbar tasks seem to work very well and instantly.

It might be a recent update of Windows or Office 2016 update that changed the behavior but remember that these are the only 2 things that have been updated.

  • is there no way to pin windows defender tile or the taskbar

It is indeed interesting. I note by right clicking on the Windows Defender, it there is no way to pin on the subway or the taskbar. This is something that one could expect to see in an update or will resign ourselves that this will not be changed.

Well Yes! He is a. I galloped in Explorer (on the advice of another) and went to Program Files / Windows Defender and right clicked on the msasc.exe and he pinned to the taskbar. But try to pin at the beginning did not work, because after doing this and clicking on the tile, he grew up only Explorer.

So I made a shortcut on the desktop, it renamed Defender and anchored at the beginning. Everything works like hot molasses ran down a hill toward the front on a hot summer day!

  • PIN desktop to the taskbar shortcuts

Here's my problem. Does anyone know how to pin shortcuts, like my computer, the taskbar on a Tablet Acer W500. I have unlock the taskbar, the way I always did on my desktop and laptop computers and tried to drag the shortcut, then drop it in the taskbar. But on the Acer Tablet, I can't drop the shortcut on the taskbar.

It is confusing because I found a way to install Works 9 on the Tablet and when I dragged and dropped the Works 9 icon on the taskbar, it worked. But when I try to drag and drop icons such as my computer and control panel they won't PIN to the taskbar.

So does anyone know how to get there. Thank you

A few shortcut icons Windows cannot be pinned or dragged to the taskbar in Win7. (No idea why not). For my part, I have activated the old Quick Launch bar is next to the Start button for the programs that I use frequently, and to the right of the QL I some program icons pinned for the programs that I use every day.

You may need to show hidden files. Type the Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select view advanced settings and check that the box "display files and folders" and 'Hide protected operating system files' are not checked. You may need to scroll down to see the second element. You should also make sure that the box before "Hide extensions of known file types" is not checked.

  • 10.0 Safari cannot connect to most of the servers

With the help of El Capitan 10.11.6 on a MacBook Pro 2011 which has worked fine until... I did the update of Safari 10 today (with iTunes and Camera RAW updates, iTunes is very well and I do not use RAW images). Now Safari does not load most of the sites. For example: Google and work, but apple.com and ask.com discussions.apple.com do not work. "Safari can't connect to the server. Don't use not VPN or OpenDNS, no change in Network preferences.

    Have you tried:

    Restarted Safari

Connected to the Admin ACCT. (Safari works fine it; loading all pages, so this problem is specific to my normal user account)

Caches allowed via the menu Developer

    Deleted cookies

    Restarted Mac.

Turned off WiFi and reset modem and router

Added the new network location & remove the old (by suggestion of Apple forum)

Turn off all extensions of Safari (Pinboard, LastPass, JSblocker)

Ran Malwarebytes using current data files (found nothing)

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

Safari - no support for third-party modules can cause Safari to suddenly quit, or have performance problems

Safari does not load a page or webpage elements are missing

Safari / other browsers - Web site does not

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • The Windows fax service cannot start because there is no such thing as a privilege in the fax service account.

I'm trying to set up Windows Fax and Scan to store faxes "received" in a folder encrypted (EFS). (I use Windows Vista Business).

The fax service will not start if it set to log on as a "local system account", but faxes are stored with the certificate of local system and inaccessible to other users.

To work around this problem, I tried to configure the Fax Service to log on under a specific user account. However, after that and try to re - start the Service I get.

Error: 1297 as a service privilege is needed to function properly does not exist in the service account configuration.

One of the services that begins with the "local system account" does not automatically start with a normal user account and if you get the message.  Most of the services are designed to start with the local system account and not a special user account (actually, not on my system using a specific user account for services).  I think that part is OK and you must return it to the local system account (so eliminate the error message and remove that as a problem to solve).

I think the question may also be a permissions problem in the user access to the fax.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product.)  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

If that is indeed a problem of certificates (and it seems there is a but looks like he takes care of himself with the Wizard), then we must make the certificate available to all users of the system (from where it is now stored) - and I think I saw how to do this in secpol.msc.  Here is some information I found on EFS secpol.msc in the public key policies (you can get it by entering this in the area of research and the antering and then a double click on the program icon that appears) where you would put in place.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Encrypting File System (EFS) is an encryption technology of base file used to store the encrypted files on NTFS file system volumes. Encrypted files cannot be used unless the user has access to the keys needed to decrypt the information.

Encryption is transparent to the user that encrypted the file. This means that you don't have to manually decrypt the encrypted file before that you can use. You can open and edit the file as you normally would. Once you encrypt a file or folder, you work with the encrypted file, or a folder like you do with any other file or folder.

The use of EFS is similar to using permissions on files and folders. Both methods can be used to restrict access to the data. However, an attacker who gets physical access unauthorized to your encrypted files or folders will be prevented from reading. If the intruder tries to open or copy your encrypted file or folder, he or she receives an access denied message. Permissions on files and folders do not protect against unauthorized physical attacks.

You encrypt or decrypt a folder or file by setting the property of encryption for files and folders, as you define another attribute such as read-only, compressed, or hidden. If you encrypt a folder, all files and subfolders created in the encrypted folder are automatically encrypted. It is recommended that you encrypt at the folder level.

You can also encrypt or decrypt a file or folder using the Cipher command.

When you work with encrypted files and folders, keep in mind the following information:

    • Only the files and folders on NTFS volumes can be encrypted. However, you can use Web distributed authoring and versioning (WebDAV), which also works with NTFS, to transfer files in encrypted form.
    • Files or compressed files can also be encrypted. If the user marks a file or folder for encryption, that file or folder will be uncompressed.
    • Encrypted files are decrypted if you copy or move the file to a volume that is not an NTFS volume.
    • Moving files unencrypted in an encrypted folder will automatically cause these files to be encrypted in the new folder. However, the reverse will not automatically decrypt files. The files must be explicitly decrypted.
    • Files marked with the system attribute cannot be encrypted, nor can files in the system root directory structure.
    • Encrypt a file or a folder does not protect against the removal or the list of files or directories. Anyone with the appropriate permissions can delete or list encrypted folders or files. For this reason, the use of EFS in combination with NTFS permissions is recommended.
    • You can encrypt or decrypt files and files located on a remote computer that has been enabled for remote encryption, but, in this version of Windows, the data that is transmitted over the network by this process is not encrypted. Other protocols, such as Secure Socket Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) or Internet Protocol security (IPsec) must be used to encrypt data while they are transmitted over the network. (You can also use WebDAV, as described in the first bullet, to pass the file in encrypted form.)

    EFS policy settings

You can use Group Policy to configure a number of EFS settings.

    Allow or disallow the EFS

You can choose to allow or prohibit the use of EFS altogether. If you do not configure the policy settings for EFS, it is OK.

    The EFS options

If you choose to allow EFS, you can also select a number of options, such as whether to automatically encrypt the Documents folder of the user, to require a smart card for use with EFS, to cache keys created based on a smart card, to enable the encryption of the Windows page file, or to notify users to make the backup copies of their encryption keys.

    EFS certificate

EFS encryption is based on the pairs of keys associated with certificates. In most managed environments, the certificates are issued by a certification authority (CA) running in the field. Users can automatically be issued a certificate from the CA without manual intervention. EFS settings include a drop-down models of certificates that are available in the field list so that you can specify which certificate template to use for autoenrollment.

    Note

The list includes all the models of certificates, present in the field. An administrator must configure the CA so that certificates can be issued. Some displayed certificates are not available.

In cases where a certificate cannot be issued by a certification authority, EFS can use a self-signed certificate created on the local computer (there is a section in secpol.msc to create a certificate). You can choose to disable this functionality and specify a default key length.

have a computer laptop vaio from Sony and the camera does not work. I did most of the things apart to take apart!

It has the standard driver that I uninstalled and reinstalled again.

I don't have a arcsoft webcam program that many people say is contributing to this problem.

    Operating system is Windows 7.

You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for the webcam in compatibility mode, if you have not already done.

    Here are the steps:

    1. Download the latest drivers from the site of VIOS of technical support.
    2. Press the Windows key + R, then on "devmgmt.msc".
    3. Go to webcam driver, then right-click on it.
    4. Click Properties and click the Uninstall tab.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Re install the latest driver in compatibility mode.
    • Right-click on the downloaded driver.
    • Click Properties , and then select the compatibility tab.
    • Click the check box next to "run this program in compatibility mode for: '.
    • Choose the option of Windows 7 on the menu drop-down.

I can't install most of the system disk c.It programs always show me "system cannot find the path specified." But, when I copy it to a disk D it starts installing. Most of the programs is not installed properly, because it seems that they cannot access some areas on the system drive. I tried already to check drive C for errors. It did not help. »

I solved my problem. It seems that Windows 7 creates additonal 100 MB partition with the system partition. When I reinstall Windows 7 I formatted the C drive but not the extra partition and perhaps this conflict has caused. I installed the system again but I have two of these drives formatted and it works normally again. Thanks anyway.
