Cannot read some DVD - RW2 on Satellite P10

Hello world

a friend send a dvd of my marriage. It's a DVD-RW2. With my Satellite P10, I can't read the DVD. It is not recognized. The Forum of the internet, I read that I should update my DVD - ROM drive firmware, to be able to read this format of DVD.

I downloaded the new firmware on the Web from Toshiba site. When I try to run it, my computer crashes with blue screen and doesn't want to restart. I have to restart Windows with the last good configuration. I can't update the firmware of the DVD-ROM.

Can someone help me?

My configuration:
OS: Windows XP Home Edition with SP2
Computer: Satellite P10 853 (PSP16E-0EKC9-EN)
Real DVD - ROM Firmware: Revision of the SD - R6112 1031
Firmware DVD - ROM target: review SD - R6112 1033

Hey Buddy,

    Hello

Check the automatic run settings in the control panel. Ensure that the measures to be taken when optical media are inserted represent the media format type that you create.  You can check the box at the top to use AutoPlay for all media types, then select the action for the particular media format.  Be sure to save the changes.

You can also consider using Imgburn to read and write to check some media to see if you actually have some hardware issues. ImgBurn will also appear to what types of media are acceptable for the optical drive.

It is also possible that the media you use is of a lower quality.  I prefer the Verbatim. It cost more but I've never had a problem with Verbatim.

If your PC is under warranty then contact HP support. HP support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

  • Satellite A20-130: SD-R2412 cannot read that DVD burned in some optical drives

    Hello

I have a laptop Satellite A20-130, running Windows XP and Ununtu Dapper in a double score. My 2nd laptop is not a Toshiba. When I burned the DVD (DVD + R) with my laptop Toshiba no and played against them in my Satellite everything has worked well.

However, when I bought a new optical drive for my 2nd my Toshiba laptop suddenly stopped playing DVDs burned in this new optical disc (I was using exactly the same brand of disc and the same format - DVD + R). I tried the old DVD (those burned in the laptop before that material from the optical drive has been upgraded) and they can still read perfectly well.

This problem applies to both Ubuntu and Windows XP. Computer support portable 2nd said that sounds like a problem of firmware with my Toshiba. I updated the driver for my optical drive Toshiba R2412 SD (which according to the manual of the leader, seems to fix a DVD-Ram compatibility issue). Now the reader occasionally reads some of the new DVDs burnt (after doing lots of noise and waiting for ages), but more often that not, I get an error message saying that the device cannot be read, because the format is wrong or the device needs to be formatted.

This computer non-Toshiba laptop read DVD, it burns using the optical drive improved perfectly.

    Hello

Satellite A20 is old enough laptop model, and after intensive use, it may be that the disc is more sensitive. If all this happens occasionally there no explanation just why this happens.

I know it's pretty boring, but I don't see any magic solution. In the end, you should test with new disc.

  • Satellite A30-404: DVD player does not read some DVD

    Hello

    I have a satellite A30-404, and recently, I installed a new firmware update for my TOSHIBA DVD - ROM SD-R6112. (page can be found [here | http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=NL&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 153 & selProduct = 518 & langua ge = 33 & selOS = 10 & selType = all & yearupload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 28 & selectedLanguage = 33 & type = all & page = 1 & ID = 46804 & DISO =-1 & driverLanguage = 42])

Since then, I can't play some DVD I write, for the most part, the 4 GB DVD +, for example, I can perfectly read a 1, 3 GB DVD with 3 multisessions.

However, other computers can read the DVD I can't.

    Help would be appreciated.

Maybe the new firmware does contain all of the information on the DVD.
Do you know what firmware is or what information it contains?

The firmware of the drive contains simple information about the support that can be used, what burning/reading speed is supported, which average manufacturer is compatible, etc.

Maybe the new firmware contains other information such as and therefore CD/DVD cannot be played correctly.
I think in this case, you need to test different CDs/DVDs and try to burn at a different rate.

  • F20-136: sometimes by car cannot read some CD or DVD

    Hi all

I just bought a F20-136 and make me "event ID 11, category: CDROM ' errors in the event viewer. It is a mistake of the controller. The drive seems to read most discs, but sometimes it has trouble reading some discs and that's when the error occurs (this can happen with CD or DVD, pressed or burned).
I also burned an image on a DVD-R which reads OK on the laptop but not on my desktop DVD. This laptop has the Mat * one years UJ-840 SuperMulti Drive.

This sounds like a hardware problem?

    Hello Gary

It is not easy to tell if there is a hardware problem. Your device is a new and, if there is no possibility, trying to contact the partner Service of your country. Explain the problem and let check the drive correctly. If there is a power outage, the warranty will cover the replacement costs.

  • Help with the driver DvD Ram for satellite P10

On my laptop (satellite p10) is Windows 2000 Professional running, but the driver DVD Ram of the Toshiba Homepage does not...
Where can I get a driver that works on my laptop?

    Hi Val,

The correct driver for your laptop running Wnidows 2000 should be version 3.0.8.0 and is available for download from the Web from Toshiba website.

I presume that it is the one that you tried, so I don't know what you mean when you say that "it doesn't."

  • Carpet * a UJ-830 cannot read/write DVDs on Equium L10

Hi, I have a laptop Equium L10. My DVD RAM mast * a UJ 830 cannot read/write to DVD discs. But it can read and write CDs.
I have installed the latest driver but no luck. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

This problem appears since day one?

I ask because it looks like a hardware malfunction, to me it seems that the lens can not calibrate properly and that's why the drive can read and write DVDs.
What burning software do you use?
For the most part a burning like Nero program provides an error message if the burning process failed

  • Qosmio overheats after an hour and some ODD does not read some DVD

    OK here is the first:

I've had my Qosmio for about 4 months now, and everything has been for the most part works well. Recently, it seems that my computer has heating in an hour or two more.

I used to be on it all day when I got it and never came across this problem. I checked the 'suckage' of the air vents on the bottom and noticed that one of the two events seem to be sucking air. I was wondering if one is saposed to work, if it didn't is that you say, I have to do to solve this problem.

    Second question:
When I got my laptop hard drive wouldn't read no matter WHAT disc I put in it. It wouldn't read any games, I tried to download. So I called toshiba tech support and they helped me to get it fixed and now it will read my games and CD but it will not always read my DVD I try and watch.

Should I call tech support and ask for help again?

    Thanks for the help

    Hey,.

What laptop Qosmio you have exactly?
On the problem of overheating can dust blocks a good air circulation. You must clean your laptop with a jet of compressed air. This can blow the dust from the cooling fans. Spray of compressed air can be bought from every store in the computer normally.

Regarding your other question, can start you on DVD for example? You should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the registry: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
May be there is dust on the lens. You need to clean the lens of the CD/DVD drive using a microfibre cloth. It s worth a try! ;)

  • Qosmio F10: Cannot read all DVDs recorded on JVC DVDRW

I have a Toshiba Qosmio F10 in general I am very satisfied with the camera, but... I don't no why I can't play SOME DVD saved on my DVDRW JVC home and not in others, it's driving me crazy, no matter who else has this crazy situation, any suggestions would be most appreciated, as I add another HARD drive to this unit, 60 GB seems a bit small for a work of TV/DVD etc.

Thank you very much, keep up the good work Toshiba ;-)

  • Portege M500 - cannot read overburned DVD + r

    Hi all

running a Toshiba Portege M500, WXP SP2, the v3.30 BIOS Home
    Matsu * a DVD-RAM UJ-842 drive with firmware 1.01.

My problem is that the drive will not read overburned DVD + r - reports "disk may be corrupted or using a format that is not compatible with windows."

Discs read fine on desktop (Sony DRU-810 has, 1.0E firmware), IBM Thinkpad Combo drive, and sweep good PIE/PIF graphics. So I think it's a compatibility issue with the player on the Toshiba firmware. I rarely overburn by more than 30 MB, so there is a lot of writing on the left surface.

Any chance there is an updated firmware that improves compatibility of the player on the Toshiba?

    See you soon,.
    C.

    Hello

I put t know if the firmware update will help you but generally it s not the best idea to burn on the media.
Drive hard internal don t support each CD or DVD and in my experience the reader on the portable internal lens is more sensitive than on external drives.

In my opinion, you should try to burn data to DVD + R properly and not overburn
