Cannot restore an Alienware M11x

Hi people, so I have a little problem, and I hope that someone can help out me.

My beautiful new Alienware M11x was delivered last week and after playing with him for a while, I had to install a bunch of things to make a demo. Demonstration at the wire, I looked at all the things I had to uninstall and thought - "Hah!" "Easy - I'll a factory restore the right thing" connected DVD player external, stuffed in the disc that came with the machine rebooted and let it install. Uh oh. I now have an Alienware M11x with a completely standard base installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit there is no driver installed. No application installed Dell. No nice decorations. No request for Alienware. Nothing. Zip fastening. Nada. The only "customization" is an Alienware logo in system properties.

So I called the technical support - it seems that what I has to do is to use Dell Datasafe Local to restore - but this is the crisis - reinstall Windows 7, Dell/Alienware provided Media has removed the repair option in the system to restore the Dell Image

I can't find Dell Datasafe Local to download from the Dell support site - only Dell Datasafe Online. I can find patches for local, but not the actual application itself.

The recovery partition is still there - all the 16 GB of it.

Dell support tell me they will send me a new hard drive, with the original image to this topic, so I have to replace the hard drive. WHAT? Surely, there must be a download of Datasafe Local somewhere on the site of Dell support, or a way to restore the option in the menu of boot/F8/repair. I can't believe that there is not.

Does anyone have any ideas? Please?

Then... I wanted to tell you all that I have solved the problem. For people who told me that I was basically a certain Creek without a paddle, and to accept it and put it down to experience you can save this information, as one day you might have this as well.

So, how you reimage one machine Dell/Alienware, when you have is no longer the Dell Datasafe Local tool, and by reinstalling a generic copy of Windows 7, you lose the ability to recover the image of Dell on a F8/repair of your computer? Here you go...

First of ALL - a WARNING - it just worked for me. It may, or may not, work for you. Whatever it is, it will DELETE EVERYTHING on YOUR STARTUP DRIVE. Don't try this unless you feel comfortable with that. I am not responsible if you louse things up. Sorry, but I just want to say that up front. There are many other instructions for this, and if you don't like the sound of the present, then just do what everyone else has said and reinstall a clean version of Windows and download the drivers and Applications on the site of Dell my downloads. I'm-I REFUSE to believe that something is impossible, until I tried, so me hard on that until I have to work FOR ME.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

  1. Ensure that you always have the recovery Partition. If you do not, you 're screwed, but if you the make, you'll notice everything is hidden. You can check by going into Options of folders and properties and saying to show him everything, including the protected system files. You will see a massive directory structure. You need to do attention to that is x:\DELL\IMAGE where x:\ is the recovery drive - on my machine, it was d
  2. In this directory, you will find a file called FACTORY. WIM - it is a format Image Windows Dell file created after the installation of your machine - this is the snapshot of your hard disk after a clean installed.
  3. Then you go to another computer, go to www.microsoft.com and find, download and install the WINDOWS AUTOMATED INSTALLATION KIT (WAIK) for Windows 7 - DO NOT install the version for XP or Vista
  4. Once installed, you can ignore everything, part of a file - IMAGEX. EXE - find this file--there will be three copies of it--one in a directory of a in a 'ia64' 'x 86' directory, directory of one in a "amd64". For my machine - an Alienware M11x - you need to copy the amd64 directory - I know, I know, the machine has an Intel processor, but the ia64 directory is for Itanium or Xeon systems. Believe me, it's one in the amd64 folder, if you try to use one of the other two it will tell you just that they do not work.
  5. Copy the IMAGEX command. EXE on a USB flash drive file - you can now uninstall WAIK on the other machine if you want.
  6. To return to your Dell/Alienware machine. It reboot and remain deaf F8 until the Windows Startup menu appears. Choose "repair your computer".
  7. The system will load in an environment Windows (called Windows re or "Windows recovery environment") and ask you to select your language and then log on. You MUST log in with an account that has local administrator privileges.
  8. If it pops up saying that it found problems with your boot options and what did you want to fix, say "No" - you're going to annihilate the start anyway, so it's okay
  9. Keep clicking Next until you get to a menu with options like "Startup Repair", "System Restore" Windows Memory Diagnostic","command prompt ". In a moment, we'll use the command prompt, but first he must know what drive letters WinRE has allocated to your partitions then choose option that resembles "Windows PC Restore" or "restore the System Image.
  10. You will see a dialog box that he cannot find backup locations. Press Cancel.
  11. Click the Advanced button.
  12. Click "install the driver a" to continue - we are nto going, so don't worry, but it will open a dialog box where you can see the drive letters.
  13. On Dell Windows 7 machines, it seems to be two discs, labeled "OS" and "Recovery". Make a note of each drive letter. On my M11x in WinRE drive as d: (the 'normal' Windows boot drive") operating system has been a drive and drive C: is the recovery disc - is behind what they should be, but stick with it. You can cancel it now and keep hitting cancel until you return to the Menu.
  14. Choose command line
  15. Paste your USB key with a copy of IMAGEX. EXE in the machine and wait until Windows re to recognize. Now just keep typing in the drive letter (C:, D:, E: etc.) until find you it. On my machine, it's G:
  16. Now, type G:\IMAGEX to APPLY C:\DELL\IMAGE\FACTORY. WIM 1 D:\      IMPORTANT: make sure you SELECT THE RIGHT DRIVE LETTERS. THEY MAY BE DIFFERENT ON YOUR MACHINE. THE SYNTAX IS THE G:\ MINE IS THE PLACE WHERE THE IMAGEX COMMAND. EXE EXECUTABLE IS, THE C:\ IS THE DRIVE MARKED "RECOVERY" AND THE D:\ Was in MARKED "OS" - IT MAY BE DIFFERENT ON YOUR SYSTEM
. ONCE YOU GO PAST THIS POINT YOU ARE * CLERK * AND REGARDLESS OF THE CAR YOU CHOOSE WILL BE * DELETED * AND OVERWRITTEN WITH THE ORIGINAL IMAGE.   YOU. A. SUMMER. HAS PUT IN CUSTODY. PROCEED at YOUR OWN RISK
  • When you press ENTER, the machine will begin to decompress the image and copy it to the drive you have selected. In case you're wondering the '1' in the command line is to specify the number of images, as WIM files can contain several images.
  • You can get warnings like decompression. Yes, I did. I am brave (or stupid) and simply ignore them and crossed my fingers
  • When it's over, which for me was 10 minutes, type EXIT and press ENTER, then remove the USB key, unplug the other drives, you can be connected and press RESTART.
  • If it worked, you will start (with the correct drive letters - C: will now be the boot drive ) and Windows will run through its OOBE (box experience off) making Setup for the first time again
  • . Congratulations - you did it.
  • Buy now something like Acronis True Image or something else that makes the backup images and make a backup of your machine if you do not have to tear your hair works this out without any help from the printer Dell 'support officers' who do not have the slightest idea how to do that, promise you they will send you things and never go there.
  • Hope that helps someone. He has been the education, and I want to thank those of you who have commiseration or ideas. I hope that it is something that you can all add to your arsenal of solutions to problems that you hope you will never need to use

iPhone 6s more stuck in the mode of the brick after downloading ios10. Cannot restore via iTunes. error 3014

After the update to ios10, my 5s iPhone seems to work very well. I reconnected it to iTunes and then it bricked, and I panicked.

iTunes synced a couple of times, it took about an hour and a half for me. After that it stopped its cycle of synchronization, I unplugged my iPhone - it still bricked. I then did a hard reset and it worked.

Maybe I got lucky, maybe my iPhone and iTunes need a kick in their buttocks.

    • Cannot restore from a backup

I cannot restore from a backup and don't know why.

I have a Crucial SSD of BX100 in my mid 2010 MacBook Pro. It is divided into two partitions. I got Snow Leopard on a partition and Yosemite on the other. For some reason any I've never understood the Snow Leopard guarded beachballing partition. This happened if often that I decided to wipe the disk and reinstall from my backup, do it before the beachballing began to occur.

But I can't restore. I wiped the drive of a Snow Leopard system, repaired and reformatted. The drive is not Core Storage, this is Mac OS extended (journaled). When I try to restore the restore on it works for about two minutes and then stops. Finally, I get a message saying that the disc has been ejected incorrectly.

I noticed that when I receive information on the drive, an element appears different from other readers and which corresponds to the element, owners enabled: no each other drive I've seen says owners enabled: Yes. Is it all just because there is no system on the partition?

Also "ignore ownership on this Volume" must be checked or unchecked?

Suggestions welcomed, I am baffled by this.

      Snow Leopard erase and install

      1. Insert the Snow Leopard DVD in the optical drive and restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after hearing the chime hold down the C key.
      3. Release the button when the Apple logo appears and wait for loading to complete.
      4. After the installer loads, choose your language and click on the continue button. When the menu bar appears select utility drive in the Utilities menu.  After disk utility charges select the entry out-bumpy in the list aside (mfgr. size ID and disc drive.)  In the right side of the disk utility window, click the Partition tab.  Set the number of sheets to (1) on the menu drop down. Click the Options button and select GUID, click on OK, the value of the Mac OS Extended journaled format type. Finally, click on the apply button.
      5. Once the format is complete, quit disk utility.  Continue with the installation of OS X and follow the directions.
      6. Once installation is complete, the computer will restart in the installation wizard. After completing the Setup Wizard, you will use a new installation of Snow Leopard. Open the software update and install updates recommended.
      7. If you plan to sell or to give to your remote computer, then proceed as follows: once you reformat your hard disk and reinstall Snow Leopard, the computer restarts with a welcome screen. To leave the Mac in a State OOTB (Out Of The Box), do not continue with the Setup program. Instead, press the command and Q keys to stop the computer. The installation wizard will guide you the new owner through the installation procedure, after that it turns on the computer.
      8. Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 v1.1 updated Combo. If necessary. It is not necessary if you are selling or giving your computer away.
    • Cannot restore the backup to iCloud. Stuck on "remaining time: estimate.

I bought an iPhone 6s a month ago. Saturday, the screen is dead - they said it was a bad card, so they gave me a new. Initially, the restoration of iCloud seemed to work very well, but some of my app data has not loaded up. These data are really important to me, so I thought I could restore the device again and see if it would transfer the data. Now it is stuck on "remaining time: estimated...» "FOREVER.

I tried the hard reset a dozen times. I tried to restore back to factory settings. I tried to load the old backups. No matter how long I leave Restoration - I left it all night - I I found with the message "cannot restore backup iCloud," no matter what backup I use. I talked to Apple Care. No one can understand why it does not work. The guy at the Genius Bar said it might have to do with the fact that my carrier settings were not switched correctly when they gave me the new device. He has updated and was told to wait another day and try again. I did this. It STILL gets stuck on screen and didn't budge!

What could possibly go wrong? Why does a job the first time and now this? The only thing I can think is that it is a problem of iCloud... So frustrating! Help, please!

    • cannot restore from the previous date says computer is unprotected I just get rid of the virus of audit system

rid of virus check system but cannot restore the computer to the previous date

You never said how you got rid of the "System Check" malware. As far as we know, he is still there. Follow these instructions (if you have not already done so):

Also, as Jose pointed out, there are programs that are designed to interfere with the system restore (Norton is one of the most common). But there are really two questions. First of all, we will treat your malware problem. We can always revisit SR at a later date.
Finally, even once as Jose pointed out, you NEVER run the system restore after the removal of the malware! Which could only bring him back! That you have to turn it off and then put it again, which will REMOVE all previous restore points. You really all gone!
