  I had exactly the same problem. It worked for me:

  1 uninstall antivirus (mine was AVG free v9)

  2. plan chkdsk on reboot

  3. restart

  4. now, CHKDSK runs and corrects problems of disc he

  5 re-install AVG

It is heartbreaking how reckless SSII is during the cleaning of the registry during the uninstallation of their software. And some of the best cleansers will warn you if a fix is dangerous or not you can not run it. But what sometimes happens is that vacuuming can cause two problems for everyone that it fixes if you aren't careful.
