Cannot run Windows 7 after installing Windows XP.

Hi all, I have a problem with my windows system. I've been a happy user of Windows 7 Professional, but I missed my old XP, then I installed it, and... I can't run Windows 7 now. I can't choose the OS I want to use, but Windows XP runs as all other systems were not. You know, where is the problem? Need help please, if you can.

Thanks for all the help.

/ Sorry for my mistakes, I'm from the Poland, and I learn again :)

If you overwrite your Windows 7 partition in the process and you have valid licenses for both systems, then you can try to change the Windows XP boot manager to restore the Windows 7 operating system:

The article is a bit old, but its principles will probably still allow you to dual boot Windows 7 and XP provided you delete the Windows 7 partition when you reinstalled XP.

While the dual-boot will probably work for you, I think it would be better for you to perform a Windows Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Pro or above and then use the XP compatibility mode:

Why my iMac (27 inch, mid 2011) cannot run Windows 10 in boot camp? And if he can't, he would work in something like parallels?

To be honest, Windows 10 is compatible with your Mac, but Apple does not release from Windows 10 drivers for it. There are various guides on the Internet to install the drivers for Boot Camp Windows 10 even if your Mac is not supported, but follow them at your own risk (don't forget that you won't receive help to make).

However, you are free to run Windows 10 on a virtual machine. To do this, you can use Parallels, VMware or VirtualBox, but remember that a virtual machine will give you less performance than Windows natively on your iMac. Read-> Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?

  • Cannot run Windows 7 SP1 on big HDD (1 TB)

    Hello

I just realized about this very recent which is apparently now closed:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=275105

I had same problem with a Toshiba 1 TB drive - I lost on that day and tried at least 10 Windows 7 installs with various behaviours/settings/partitions and still the same result. Cannot run Windows Update.

I also tried to install Windows 7 SP1 from a DVD and have failed with a catastrophic mistake. I also tried to reformat the disk, the WIndows repair tool (ha!) update and installation when you're standing on my head while reciting the works of Shakespear.

I gave up in the end and decided to NOT use it as a system disk at all. Instead, I installed Windows 7 on a smaller drive and uses the 1 TB and successfully as a secondary on the same PC drive with a single partition of 1 TB.

I'm likely to have problems - maybe when the player is more complete and if I might be wise to split into 2 or more partitions?

I just bought the drive so I can send it if it's going to be a waste of time.

    Thank you very much.

And what model of Toshiba laptop do you have?

  • file loss or damage after running automatic updates, cannot run windows without having to re - install

I am currently running Windows vista 64-bit, but I'm unable to allow automatic updates to run because it results in loss/damage/corruption of files.
It will install everything as usual and reboot the computer, but instead of windows startup, it reports that windows cannot open because there is a missing or damaged file. The pc is not repairable by placing it in a previous restore point or using the at startup repair shop and I find myself having to reinstall VISTA to get the pc working again. Accordingly, Iam unable to install service packs for Vista or other updates to the system because I don't want to reinstall my computer is there a patch or fix for this error?

    J0seph1ne,
If you have a question whenever you install an update with the loss of corruption\file then it is possible that you have a problem with your hard drive or with and infection.  You can try the tools\links below.  I suggest you then install just a few updates both to seek only possible that poses a problem.

  • CODE 80072EFE: cannot run windows update

I had some problems with my computer Windows Vista - Business Office.  Here are the ones I've noticed so far.

    1. I can't run windows update, I get error code 80072efe when I try.

    2. I get continuous popups.  Not all the time and not every time I have a Web browser open.  Sometimes my browser will open only to Web sites at random, for most of the sites trying to sell me something.  I've just close it before it ends even loading and it will be generally fine for awhile.

    3. on my desk, I'm going to organize my icons where I want that they around my screen (work icons in a spot programs, browsers/email in another, records of files on my second monitor, etc.)  Whenever I restart all my icons automatically group either by date or name, and I have to go through the re-organization.  (This one is obviously not really important but I thought that I list all symptoms).

    4. I tried to do a system restore, my computer has a restore point when you start if you press F11 on the scree of HP (or enter the boot menu by pressing F8 or F5, etc) and it will not allow me to enter this screen.  I can't enter the menu start and any other menu it lists on this screen, but the system restore seems to be disabled in some way.

I tried to run the scan on windows.live.support (or whatever the site is) and he found a lot of problems and 1 question he couldn't solve, so now I'm stuck.  I tried running malwarebytes scan and it does not pick up any viruses.

    Any suggestions?

  • Cannot run Windows 10

I don't understand what that means. He told me to look at a problem of compatibility. I clicked on the overview report it says "you're good to go and my PC runs Windows 10. I have all green checkmarks. The only thing I don't have on my PC's touchscreen. My monitor is not like this. So, I don't know what the problem is. I had checked my laptop and I'm able to download Windows 10, because it has Windows 8. My computer has Windows 7. If the computer is Windows 7 and not Windows 8? I didn't download Windows 8 at the time because I go to school and I didn't want to cause disruption with my studies at school.

I want to download Windows 10 before the date, but I don't know what to do.

    Please help me.

    Thank you

    Try to upgrade manually:

If the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 10 becomes blocked or unresponsive to 99%, wait at least 4 to 7 hours. If the installation program does not progress, close the wizard and restart your computer. Follow the instructions to upgrade manually by using the tool of creation of media or file ISO for Windows 10.

If you encounter an error about enough space to perform the upgrade, see the instructions:

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    Retry the upgrade manually:

Option 1: Using the media creation tool

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader). You can do so from the Device Manager.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).
    • Support your default BIOS reset BIOS.
    • Check if there BIOS updates available for your system, and then to apply them.
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a USB device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.

  • Blue screen, cannot run Windows Update

I was browsing Reddit when all of a sudden my laptop decided NOPE and closes everything down to make an update. It was 03:00 so I wasn't thinking straight and closed on the rise and went to bed. The next day, while in the class my phone showed me a blue screen with some writing for everything... long enough not to read what was then asked if I wanted to start in different security modes. I thought that this could be because I interrupted an update and I tried to run Windows Update, but it will still not open.   I can't access anything whatever, and I have a paper in four days... Help, please!

We need the DMP file because it contains the single record of the sequence of events that led to the accident, what drivers have been loaded, and what has been loaded.

WE NEED AT LEAST TWO FILES DMP TO SPOT TRENDS AND TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS.

If you're overclocking (pushing components beyond their design) return you to default at least until the crash is resolved. If you don't know what it is that you're probably not overclocking.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting in SafeMode (F8) with networking.
If you are overclocking stop.  (chances are that if you are unsure if you are, you are not)
