Cannot start or reload Windows on a laptop.

A friend has problems with his laptop and asked me to take a look.

He began to start on the blue screen of Windows startup, and then failed.

Since she had nothing on the computer that needs saving, I asked if it would be nice to reload XP and she agreed.

The process got as much XP to request preliminary information, then told me that he could not find a hard drive.

So, I loaded Linux on the laptop, just to see if that would repair anything that could be a problem with the disc. Linux loaded fine and the laptop can boot Linux, but when I try to load XP again, I get the same error, may not find a hard drive.

I am confused, I checked the BIOS and it seems to be correct, recognize the hard drive and successfully boot Linux, but I want to put XP on his laptop computer. It's an old computer, don't bother buying a new version of Windows, but it should take care of everything that needs his family.

Any ideas?

What is the model of the laptop? The laptop may have a hard disk that needs special drivers to load the installer to recognize.

My windows Security Center indicates that "the windows firewall is disabled.  When I try to turn it on I get the message "windows is unable to start the service windows firewall."  Any suggestions?

    Hello

The answer depends on what you have anti-virus security.

If you have, for example, Norton Internet Security protects your computer, it is using Firewall from Norton.

If you have 2 firewall of exploitation, which can cause system hangs, slow, etc.

What Antivirus do you use for computer security?

If you don't have a Suite of Internet security, protect your computer, scan for Malware:

Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware, if necessary in Mode safe mode with networking:

According to your attached newspaper, your CPU in the host is unable to enter long mode.

So either the CPU is not capable of running 64-bit or you need to enable VT in the BIOS and cold restart it.

  • I need to reload windows on my laptop from the diskette.

I have a virus and need to reload vista.

Some computer manufacturers, including Dell and HP, have a recovery partition on the hard drive of the new computers.  By pressing a special key combination when the computer starts, you can use the recovery partition to restore the computer to the way it was when it was new.

If this is not possible and you do not have the installation diskettes, contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send the disks.  There may be a small fee for the service.

    Hi the Trieu,

    1. are you under any domain active?
    2. are you a third party security/firewall on your computer?

If Yes, then you may not be able to start Windows Firewall, since you have a 3rd group of firewall installed.

Even if you can re-enable the Windows Firewall, you should not run two firewalls at the same time.

    Step 1:

I suggest to uninstall any third-party firewall installed on your computer and check if the problem is resolved.

    Reference:

Uninstall or change a program in windows.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/uninstall-or-change-a-program

    Step 2:

    Try the following steps:

    a. right click on command prompt (start Menu\Programs\Accessories) and choose Run as administrator. Type (or copy and paste) the following command:

    WinMgmt /verifyrepository

    b. If the system returns 'referential WMI does not match', type this command:

    WinMgmt /salvagerepository

The first time you run this command, it will fail. (It will be matter of commands to stop services causing his failure, saying: "a shutdown command was sent to a service that depend on other services running on"). It might take a few minutes for the services to stop. Rerun the last command. You may in fact need to run 3 times before finally runs and ends on its own.

    c. once the command is executed, you can determine if the problem is resolved.

    Step 3:

You can also use Event Viewer to search for information on the problem.

    Reference:

The display of the error messages in the event viewer
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947321

You can check for more information about this at the time where it appeared and post this information here to help us narrow down where the focus.

    Enable or disable Windows Firewall
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    Step 4:

I suggest you check for these dependency services.

You should have these services began in the services window.

    -Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    -DCOM Server process Launcher
    -RPC end point mapper

  • Cannot start to any Windows media - BIOS, Linux okay.

Yesterday, on my Windows 7 Pro computer, I tried to access management of the computer via r - clicking on "Computer" and select "Manage", but apparently the link ceased to exist;  However, I could access it via "Administrative tools.". Curious to know how long it lasts, I tried a system restore, that actually do anything, so I tried to restore to the rear.  Is where the real fun begins...

    The bluescreened to computer with the message "PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED," SEO Stop: 0x0000006B (0xFFFFFFFFC000007A, 0 x 0000000000000006, 0 x 0000000000000000, 0 x 0000000000000000).
Now when I try to boot into Windows, I have to make a choice between "Start Windows normally" and "Repair", nor what kind of work.  'Normally' give me the blue screen and "Repair" will not work because my keyboard or mouse will work in a Windows environment.
I tried different mice, keyboards and plug it into different ports, but absolutely nothing, not even a cursor frozen on the screen.  I also tried a hot spare Win PE with the same result, as well as the Windows installation disc, and various Windows-based bootable USB flash drives - once again, several USB ports.  And Safe Mode is a 'no-go '.
HOWEVER, everything works perfectly in the UEFI BIOS and all the other screens prior to Windows.  AND I can boot into various Linux distributions installed on an SDHC card that is placed in a USB adapter.
You are using Linux, I was able to follow the instructions I found on the Microsoft Support, delete the Bootcat.cache file, located in C:\Windows\system32\codeintegrity.  That no longer works.
Any suggestions before I have turn this into a Linux computer?

What worked:  I was able to start Linux (Mint distribution has functioned well), and from there I used the Terminal to reformat the drive for ext2, a Linux file system.  I thought that it doesn't really matter what I used, because Windows don't want to reformat anyway; I want to just get rid of all that was to keep the HIDs work.

Then I started on the installation of W7 disc - believe me, I have never been happy to see a slider! -After all the wanton 'you can do that' messages I finally got things the way Windows he wanted and now W7 is installed, complete with mouse, keyboard and the 'computer' right click 'Manage' option intact.
I did all the instructions I used to reformat the drive using Linux;  If someone wants to, reply to this message and I'll paste them here.
