I have no record of my 'administrator' password and am therefore not able to upgrade the software on my PC. What should I do?

Hello

1. how many user accounts have your configured?

2. from what account you are trying to upgrade the software?

To keep track of the workaround section below:

Enable built into account admin and look for the question:

a. click the Start button, and then type cmd in the Search box.
In the list of research results, right click on cmdand then click run as administrator.

b. at the command prompt, typenet user administrator / Active: Yesand then press ENTER.

c. type net user administrator , , and then press ENTER.

Note: Please replace the tag with passwords which you want to set for the administrator account.

Type exitand press ENTER. Disconnect from the current user account.

Now you will see the built in Administrator account, log on to this account and try to create a new user with administrator privileges account and check for the issue.

  • Cannot start the computer (error hal.dll)

Hi, I use Windows xp and when it loads, it says:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    \System32\hal.dll
Please reinstall a copy of the top of the queue.

I have the original Windows xp cd and when I boot from the cd the blue screen comes up saying "Windows Setup".
It automatically start doing something and then he stuck to "ACPI Plug & Play bus driver. Stucks HE there for a while and when it ends, I got an error message that says: "file acpi.sys cause unexpected error (32768) to 5964 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c line."

And when I press any button it just restarts the computer and it makes a loop in this way.
And by the way, safe mode and all the other modes do not work, I get the same error for hal.dll, and I can't reach the office.

    Help, please!

UPDATE: this time I received the error "acpi.sys file caused...". "now, I got that it's corrupted.

It is extremely unlikely that the hal.dll file is missing or damaged.

It is extremely likely that XP just cannot find the file.

I have no idea what you have tried so far things - have you tried to do a repair installation?

For this error, I first start in the XP Recovery Console (by pressing 'R' of your bootable CD) and run chkdsk /r on your system and then see how things appear after that, but try this notice from the Support Engineer and see how it works.

If you can't get into the Recovery Console any CD you or you are not sure what type of bootable media you have, you should make a bootable CD from the Console of the Recovery XP (no XP media required) and do not forget what you have.

Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

  • LV RT2010 on PXI-8145RT - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

My lab has a pair of PXI systems controlled by 8145RT PXI and LabView 2010 because we have not upgraded for awhile. As far as I know, this controller should be usable with LV2010 RT.

However, when I try to install the software on the target using MAX, I get a message informing me that the software I would like to install (LV - Rt 10.0) is incompatible with the operating system loaded on the machine. The ethernet driver install without problem, for what it is worth.

When you try to upgrade the BIOS, I first got a message that the controller contains the version 10.2 and 10.3 version is available on the host. If I try to follow the upgrade procedure (jumper W2 bridged, of course) the controller sees a bit of business network, reboots, gets a little more traffic, and then MAX tells me that the update has failed.

I can see that the flash update program was transferred to the target and set as the boot executable, but clearly it was not entirely successful. Can anyone help with this? I upgraded to 512 MB CF card (which he has no problem using) and RAM 64 Mo - I didn't have an old 128 MB SODIMM autour. What is the problem? Starting with redirect series will help something? I have to build a null modem to make this work.

For anyone in a similar situation.

In the end, I decided to downgrade to LV2009 on my development machine and try things again. With the help of LV2009/LVRT2009/MAX4.6, I was able to upgrade the version of the BIOS on both of my controllers 8145RT - correctly we from 10.2 to 10.3 and 9.1 to 10.3. After that, I was able to install RT2009 + DaqMX + another need of the components on the controller for which I had updated size RAM and CF. There is not a lot of memory to spare, but the controller starts in LVRT(9.0/2009) and I have successfully deployed an application to test on this subject.

My application may require an upgrade to faster hardware in the end, but the 8145RT must stay a usable under LV2009 for simple tasks controller. I suspect that LVRT2010 would work, now that I got the BIOS upgrade, but I'm not inclined to test this right now.

As for the original question of the update of the BIOS fault, I'm pretty sure it is a bug in MAX 4.7.  4.6 MAX had no trouble to initiate an update to the exact same version as 4.7 was trying (10.3); I suspect that MAX 4.7 have not properly configured the CF environment to start the flash update program.

    Hope this helps someone.

  • Windows automatically restarts constantly, cannot access the system restore point, cannot access the computer in safe mode

    Hi all

For the not 24 hours I tried to access my computer in normal mode. When I turn on the pc, it says "configuration data 1 of 3 steps...". 0% complete"he never spent 0% and within seconds, it automatically restarts and starts again. It's so frustrating! I have a windows vista pc (purchased in ' 06). I can only access my desktop in SafeMode.

I tried to perform a system restore, but not like he says "recovery disk is not the restore point selected. What should I do? I tried to manually create a restore point, but cannot access the system and Maintenance, while in safe mode. I can't do anything but literally access the internet. How can I get Windows back to factory settings it is with these limited resources? I have a Dell reinstallation DVD.

I searched my programs and found that recently Windows automatically updated and downloaded "Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer" and "for 2007 Office system Compatibility Pack '. Now, I think it has something to do with it, because they were the most recent updates, before the pc crashed. But I also fear that it may be a virus, which has completely hijacked this PC. How am I supposed to get rid of a bug, if I can't even get the necessary antivirus?

Sorry for the ranting, but it's so stressful when my pc is completely down. Please, please please help me. Thank you in advance for reading this same!

    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.

  • Scanner (Officejet 7500) cannot find the computer when you use shortcuts scan to printer

When you choose Scan to PDF, e-mail, etc., by using the scanning on the 7500 buttons it allows me to select the computer on the network (each with all of the latest drivers and software loaded). However when about to the scanner and then says the computer is not found (whatever the) despite them being on and ready. Scanning by any other method of the Mac works. Automator shortcuts work very well during the tests, but they do not seem to get initiated by the scanner for scanning form of initiation of the printer itself.

Research on the support site HP and conclusion - a 'connection error' or "Computer no. detected" Error Message displays when trying to Scan from the printer control panel - as a subject gives PC solutions, but nothing for Mac. And so here I am. Help!

    JKB

The next thing to check is that "HP Device Monitor" is running.  This background process is responsible for detecting the keys for scanning applications.  If you open the activity monitor (located in/Applications/Utilities) you should see this class as one of the running processes.

It may be generally preferable for you to perform an uninstall and reinstall the HP software.  You will find in Applications/Hewlett-Packard HP Uninstaller.  Use this utility to remove the old software.  I recommend that you download and install the latest version of the software for your 7500 here: http://tinyurl.com/4voly2d.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to upgrade the BIOS on my Satellite A500-1GL (PSAR9E) for awhile now, but a dead battery so I can not go beyond the security check at the beginning. Is it all of the way around it, like I'm connected with current alternative, so I don't see what the problem is! Could I have possibly self-extracting zip files.

Any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!

    Hello

I think that you will not be able to update the BIOS, if your battery is dead.
Victory based BIOS update can be updated from Windows system, and there is a security option that allow you to update the BIOS only if the laptop is connected to the power adapter and if the battery is charged.

You can update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version, but as far as I know that Toshiba service partner could do that.

    If you have two options:
Purchase a battery in order to update the BIOS by using win according to BIOS version or you will get in touch with an ASP in your country and will ask you to update the BIOS by using the traditional version of BIOS.

But the BIOS update is necessary to you?

I have a laptop with the old BIOS version and I don't have that day even if the new version has been released.

Try installing this driver through the Device Manager.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.
