Dimension 3100, DVD burner?

Hi all

New here and looking for some tips.

Dimension 3100.

Windows XP.

While the realization of this machine is pretty basic, l has recently got a camcorder and was wondering is it possible to host record-film on a DVD. Had no problem getting film on Movie-Maker and it looks good on the PC but would like to burn to DVD.

Any response greatly appreciated...

  • Master IDE HDD to slave in Dimension 5100 DVD burner

    Hello

I just added a disk IDE (PATA) (jumper to master) to the same controller that my existing DVD burner, now set as slave. the two IDE channels is enabled in the BIOS and the hard drive passed Diagnostics.  But the new IDE HDD is not recognized by Windows, although it appears like a hard drive under Device Manager.

The recommendation of the forum seems to favor using an external HARD drive enclosure, but I'm not willing to do unless it's the only way to make it work.

What else is required to complete the configuration?  I am running XP Professional.

  • CD/DVD Burner on Dell Dimension E310 player interface

I have a question. I'm about to add a CD/DVD burner to my E310, but I do not know which interface has my computer. Should I buy an IDE or a SATA interface? I am considering buying one of the following readers below according to the interface that uses my E310. What I have to buy cables or do they come inside the computer already? And I want to know if I need to configure something after that I installed the drive on my computer.

  • I can build in the Satellite Pro 4600 DVD burner?

    Hiya

Can anyone help with this? Has anyone equipped with a DVD burner (dvd - rw drive Toshiba sd-r6252)?
Which models are compatible? I'm good fight opening and Exchange.
    Compatibility just in fact know.
    Thank you

    Hello

I put t found any information if this drive is compatible with the Satellite Pro 4600, but you should be careful to replace the drive.
You should check the dimensions of the car. Very important is the drive (master, slave, csel) settings because it is not possible to change this settings as on the usual desktop drive.
I'm not sure about the settings on the Satellite Pro 4600 but the ASP Toshiba should know that.
You can also order the caught player supported by the Toshiba service partner in your country.

  • "Stop error" suspected to cause driver corrupted for user installed DVD burner.

I get a "BSOD" (blue screen of death) everytime I go out with my Philips DVD burner. Under XP Home on a Dell Dimension 2400. Installed this writer a couple of years ago and have used it without any problems, however started getting this error about 6 months ago. MS produced a report when I rebooted after the last incident - "you received this message because a device installed on your Windows computer driver stop unexpectedly." This type of error is referred to as a "stop error" that requires you to restart your computer. "I followed all the steps described in this report to address the cause of the erroor. However, one of the steps refers to "Uninstalling the driver", but it is a step of manned by menu windows which seems to me that it's not really uninstall the driver - it's just a procedure they wrote such fact, it (start - control panel - display categories - Perf. & Maint - system - hardware - device Mgr - disabling/uninstalling). After you follow these steps, you get a message from re - install the device by clicking on a box. In my view, the same driver is used. It is corrupt nothing has changed and I will continue to get this error. I would like to know where the real driver is located so I can delete it and then go online to download a new driver. However, because my o/s came pre-installed by Dell, MS isn't going to help (unless I pay for the help) and Dell won't help because they didn't install the unit and the Philips site is useless in trying to get technical information as to where their driver is on my hard drive. I checked Event Viewer - System Log and found 'Source = system error category' and the real codes of 4 parameters (addresses memory I think) [that MS would only be able to interpret] for this date and time. I might have to go the route of 'pay' people with MS, but before doing that I would try to fix it myself. Dell site will not download the driver that already exists on my HD and is the latest version. Tools Dell system does not include this unit in its analysis of material either. So - I hope that someone will be quite kind to give me any suggestions where to find this particular driver - I can't find anything that looks like a pilot in the Philips records. Thanks for any help offered too!

    Hi 4ROB,

You will be able to connect the DVD recorder and install the Nero app on it, but the reader must have the connector of the IDE cable instead of SATA cable connector as the Dell Dimension 4500 comes only with the IDE connector on the motherboard.

    Please respond to all queries.

  • DVD burner does not recognize a DVD + RW

I recently bought a DVD burner, after getting advice from Dell, to replace the original equipped DVD ROM (?) in my Dell Dimension 4500, so that I could record my video movies on DVD discs.

The DVD burner, I was recommended is the ASUS DRW - 2014L 1 and this was provided by one of the "registered partners" from Dell. Unfortunately, this "Registered Partner" was useless, aggressive & dismissive to all after sales help or advice, where my request on this forum for assistance or advice.

I had no trouble to record my videos on blank DVDs DVD - RW drives, but when you try to use DVD + RW discs (to use in my Sony Home DVD drive), the drive will not recognize them. Both the + RW & - RW discs are brand new Maxell disks, the RW - 1-2 x speed, single-sided 4.7 GB & the + RW 1-4 x speed, single-sided 4.7 GB.

When there is no record of any type in the DVD drive, it shows in my computer as: DVD - RAM Drive (D). When a DVD - RW disc is inserted it changes to: CD Drive (D) with an icon of DVD - RW & this is also confirmed when I check on the properties.

However, when you insert a DVD + RW and the DVD - RAM Drive (D) going to Drive (D) CD, as with the DVD - RW, no icon is displayed to indicate the drive is recognized, or it appears in the properties.

As far as I can determine from the card, the ASUS DRW - 2014 L 1 is designed for both + & - DVD.

I'd appreciate any help or advice... or am I just dumb?

    Thank you

    Tony

  • DVD burner does not recognize blank DVDs, but will recognize blank CD?

I read through several similar messages, but none seem to have a solution to my problem.  I'm NOT very technically savvy, so this is as much I know:

    I have a Dimension E310

It was supposed to come with a cd burner and a dvd burner combo.

The reader says DVD R/RW RW DVD rewritable Compact Disk its Ultra Speed

I was able to successfully burn CDs from itunes, but have not been able to burn any kind of video file.  In fact, when I insert a blank dvd in the drive, the computer does not recognize that everything is there.

As I said, I'm not the person most computer savvy in the world.  I know how to work with my applications, but I know little about the way in which a computer is set up, so I apologize in advance if my question is ignorant, but I appreciate any help you can give.  Thank you in advance.

  • laptop DVD burner

My laptop DVD burner doesn't work on my admin account no problem (a years) but not on my account (all inclusive) children. TI spit just the DVD of return. In preferences systems on both accounts I wrote to ask what to do with a blank DVD but it never done on the children and it does on mine.

    Hello lareianne,

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support!

I see from your post, that on behalf of your children on your iMac is not able to burn DVDs. I understand the importance of being able to burn DVDs, I have do this a lot on my iMac. I'm happy to help you with this.

Use OS X El Capitan: set up parental controls and check the restrictions of parental control to see if burning CD and DVD is blocked, specifically, this section:

    All restrictions

    1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Parental controls.

Note: When you open parental controls Preferences, if you see the message "There is no user to manage accounts", see Add a managed user.

    2. Click on the lock icon to unlock, then enter an administrator name and password.

    3. Select a user, and then click a button at the top.

      • Applications: Prevents the child to use the built-in camera. Limit contact of the child with other people through the Game Center and Mail. Specify which applications can access the child.

      • Stores: Disable access to the iTunes Store and the iBook Store. Restrict access to music, movies, TV shows, apps and books to only with notation adapted to the age of the child.

  • -DVD burn does not work in the DVD player sometimes

I have a Mac Pro from the beginning of 2008, and it came with a DVD drive (OPTIARC DVD RW AD - 7170A).  I was able to burn DVDs with using toast in the past.

But lately, the half of the DVD burn won't play in my DVD consumer player.  I get a "Disk error" message when I try to play them, and they do not load.  It's a strange problem, because some of them work and some do not.  I can't tell where the problem is.

Is there a way to test the DVD player?  Should I just replace it?

Many brands of blank DVDs gives very inconsistent results when burning. If you use a brand store or generic blanks, that may be the problem.

  • iDVD on the part of an external DVD burner

The optical drive on my mac mini 2009 died. I need to burn a project to a DVD. I have attached an external DVD burner for mac. I play DVD. How to record from iDVD please?

I had a similar set on one of my Mac mini.  My internal optical drive still works fine, but I bought an external burner because the Apple optical drive cannot burn the M-DISC.  (M DISC is what we use now.)

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/item/OWC/MR3UBDRW16/

Don't burn your DVDs from iDVD. Instead, use iDVD to create an image file and then burn the image file using the disc utilities. Utility disk will be out and find all your drives connected and it should see externally, (he does with us).

  • Portege A100 - problems recognizing a new DVD burner

    Hello

I'm looking to replace the Panasonic/Matsu * player UJDA750 combo with a LiteOn SOSW - 852S DVD burner. The LiteOn is CSEL and is not recognized by the Portege A100. I tried to change the master/slave/CSEL and Inverse CSEL using E2MS_WIN_SOSW - 852 S .exe (in an Acer Travelmate 220, which sees all configurations), but the Portege A100 still does not recognize LiteOn.

I ran IDEDIAG using a WinME boot CD and the Matsu * a Combo drive in Portege reports as secondary master. So, I tried flashing the drive LiteOn (using the Acer Travelmate platform) with MTKFlash version 183 c using the a command? "mtkflash 3 w/b PRS9.bin" (using the original firmware of saved), '3' to change the drive to the secondary master. I came across problems here - the flash appears to hang. The drive is always ok, however. I flashed it back to the original ok CSEL using E2MS program in Acer.

I have not tried bridging the pins 45 to 47 on the LiteOn - I thought maybe it was a last resort.
-Can help you with the correct configuration for a CD/DVD drive in the Portege A100? There are a bunch of different ones - primary, secondary, tertiary, Quarternary master/slave and CSEL and Inverse CSEL. Portege A100 'sees' the Matsu * a CDROM model CR-176_B of Acer.

Or - can you recommend me a DVD burner for this laptop?

    Hello

The evolution of the master/slave/c-salt settings is not recommended and tell the truth I put t know if its possible. I presume that it of not possible to Flash these settings on medium power.
In my opinion it doesn't make any sense to do.
This procedure may damage the drive. Maybe you will not be able to use this drive more and more you will void the warranty!

I think it s better to buy a compatible device and supported as trying to drive not compatible flash.

Did you check your user manual? Usually the user manual should provide information on compatible CD/DVD players and supported.

    Good bye
