Cannot use lpatop as main external monitor

Using Windex XP on an old netbook with a very small screen (10 "). Connected to a 19 "monitor. Start screen is displayed at a time. Wallpaper displays both. Can drag programs to the larger screen, but can not set primary external monitor so the taskbar appears on this subject. Is it possible to do this?

  • Is satellite L350-170 - possible to use the laptop as external monitor

Ok... So I broke the other day to the top of my screen on my laptop, and was amazing, if it is possible to use another laptop as an external monitor.

while I put my files on an external hard drive

or isit only possible connection to the pc?

    Hello

It would be possible to use the second laptop as an external display ONLY if the computer a laptop would support the video port line-in to the receipt of the video signal.

But the most common books supports the only video out s-Video port or a vga port, and in this case, you will not be able to use the laptop as a second monitor external.

For example, the Satellite L350-170 supports only the RGB port that allow you to connect this laptop to external monitor but you can not use this laptop as compensation for external monitor.

  • W530 need to use the external monitor as the main

I have a training environment with the help of portable computers W530, who are locked in a box in front of the offices. It is not practical to reach the computer as it's hidden and so I need to use the dvi cable external monitor for the configuration of the bios, boot order, etc..

Currently, boot options are hidden from the external screen until windows loads. The external monitor would then become active. A way around the monitor to the laptop altogether?

    Thank you

    Russ

VGA is driven by Nvidia, so apply the same parameters. Comes to the boot monitor in VGA BIOS (I forgot what we call this specific setting, as my W530 is at home). You should always pass nvidia Optimus only.

  • Can I use a HP Mini 110-3190SF with external monitor of higher res?

Totally new in the world of netbooks! Just bought a HP Mini 110 - 3190SF, thinking I could use it with my external monitor sometimes to take off the stump of my eyes... but the highest display resolution that Windows 7 allows me is 1024 px. (My external monitor is 1360 px). In addition, 1024 px is even properly displayed on the external monitor - the left side of the screen (including the Windows Start button) is off the screen.

Of course, I tried the settings of the screen itself to have at least 1024 px is displayed correctly, but not joy. Ideally, I won't be able to change the output to 1360 px resolution, to take full advantage of the external display. Looking at this forum, it appears this is possible on older netbooks (Windows XP) but it does not seem possible when you run Windows 7. ??

Obviously, huge disappointment if I'm limited to 1024 px (and even who does not display properly). All the solutions to one of them? My output doesn't appear to 1360 px? Or, failing that, at least to get my 1024 px displaying properly on the external monitor?

    Any help is appreciated...

Thanks for the help. In fact, I solved the problem - not by installing the graphics driver, you suggested, but by installing a driver for the external monitor special I use (first time I've ever had to install a driver for a supposed to plug-and-play monitor!) and then play around with the settings. This allowed me to choose a higher resolution to 1024 px for the secondary display (IE, the monitor).

If someone else gets stuck on this, I can give a step by step, but probably no one else would have taken longer than me to know what to do!

  • External monitor satellite 4030 CDT

    Hi Please help
    I have a Satellite 4030 CDT running windows 98 with a trident cyber9525DVD W98 driver/video card (22) PCI/AGP.
I bought a LCD TV and I would like to use it as an external monitor.
When I use the Fn + F5 to switch I do not get a signal on the external screen, but when in display properties and I only check the box marked "extend my desktop to this monitor", I get a signal. I checked the check box selected in the view tab, in the hardware toshiba put in place. But I would use it as a main monitor and I cannot get it to work in the simultaneous mode.

    Hello

As far as I know it of not possible to use the external monitor as a primary monitor.
You can change the monitor settings, tv, display clone and extended desktop.

    Good bye

  • Need to reset the settings of the external monitor once Qosmio G50-12 q turns off

    Hello!

In the previous months, I bought this notebook.
It works with an external HP LP2465 monitor, with exit HDMI + DVI - D adapter.

    It works fine but...
whenever I suspend or switch to turn off my laptop, when restart, I cannot view anything on my external monitor.
I always have to open the cover of my laptop and with nVidia desktop application, assign to clone or as a simple screen > my external monitor.

However, when it starts, I can't view anything, too, until the windows desktop screen.
The nVidia GeForce 9600 M video card program, seems is not save the settings.

In addition, seems missing an option in the bios, to learn or to the primary value output video HDMI.

I hope to have it resolved in the next version of the firmware.

    Kind regards.

    MarkRed.

PS - After suspend/winter/stand-by, it starts with turning swicth off ONLY.

    > The nVidia GeForce 9600 M video card program, seems is not save the settings.
Usually, you change the video output using the FN + F5 key combination
This allows you to change the video output for different parameters
    You must use it.

But it s worth updating the graphics card driver too (if a new update is available)

    > Seems, Furthermore, missing an option in the bios, to learn or to the primary value output video HDMI.
This is not a bug of the BIOS contains no and doesn t supports this option

  • Satellite M30-S309 - certain proportions on external monitor not right

    Hello world.

I have a Satellite M30-S309 that I just started to use it with an external monitor: a 191EW9 of Philips, which has a maximum resolution of 1368 x 768. The built-in monitor is 16 "; the new external monitor is 18.5 ".
The computer has the driver for the new monitor, but with a few photos of the proportions are obviously not right.

Anyone know of any way to solve this problem? Or it's an old computer like this all simply not up to handle this type of monitor?

A solution would be much appreciated.

    Hello

Can you please explain what you mean with certain proportions are not suitable?
You can choose the native screen resolution of the external display or use another resolution of the screen?

To me that sounds like this, you use a wrong setting. On the screen you can change the width, height and to this day. You should check these options.

I have a strange problem with two Satellite Pro L670-16Z. I connected to an external monitor. After changing the settings to extend the windows desktop, I rebooted the system.
Then I gott a blue screen. I disconnected the screen external, nut, this is not enough. The system does not start. I always get a blue screen.

I can boot a BartPe. I did correct the systems yet. The systems are very cool, works only for 14 days.

  • Re: Tecra A9 keeps DΘmarrer on the external monitor

I have a Tecra A9 running on XP, it has mobile Intel 965 Express integrated graphics. I use it with an external monitor, but whenever he starts it keeps or default in the screen even if I continue to put the laptop by default.

Has anyone seen this problem and how to fix it so that the laptop is still the default monitor?

    Hello

You have connected the monitor directly on the laptop or with a port replicator?

On my Toshiba laptop, I can t view this problem so in your case, I would try to update the display driver and BIOS. The two you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Before update you the display driver, you must remove the old version and then restart the laptop.
On the update of the BIOS, I can give you some tips: close all running applications as your antivirus and firewall. In addition, you must be logged in as an administrator and extract all the files from zip archive before you start the update.

  • MacBook pro at 1920px external monitor via hdmi?

I just got MacBook pro 13-inch retina and the default resolution is 1280px in width, and the maximum value is 1600px.

If I connect the laptop to an external monitor via HMDI 1920px resolution, the resolution will actually be 1920, max mobile as 1600?

You can set the external display to the monitor native resolution or HDMI resolution according to your preference.

Don't use mirror display on external monitor because when you mirror on the screen display resolution is also in reverse. Use extended display mode.

  • Portege R200: Can I get resolution of 1920 x 1080 on external monitor?

    Hello!

I had some problems with my new Samsung TFT external. I hope that someone had an idea.

Is it possible to get a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 with the R200?

Its data sheet his writing something on an external resolution 2.048 x 1.536...

But when I connect the tft, press fn + f5 to switch on external tft im just able to 1280 x 1024.

I installed the driver of Samsung SyncMaster and the problem is already there. No higher resolution then 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz for my

TFT new even if I try to expansion of the Office on the other screen. ??

    Hello

Eventually, you will not be able to use your preferred on external monitor resolution.
    There are two reasons why such a resolution is not available;

    (1) the chip graphic card does not support external resolution
    (2) the graphics card driver could not support this resolution.

If the chip of the graphics card does not support external resolution then a driver update will not help you

But if the graphics card would support such a resolution, but resolution is not yet available, so the graphics card driver should be updated.

In any case, first check if the graphics card that support. For this you need to check the user manual, I think at the end of the user manual, you can find all available resolutions.

  • Qosmio G30 - black screen on external monitor

Qosmio G30 (PQG32E) under Vista Home Premium, driver NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, 7.15.10.9813

I can't get a picture on a monitor external (I tried two different monitors). More precisely:

"Windows Mobility Center" will recognize that a monitor is connected
"NVIDIA Control Panel - Display Change Configuration" will recognize the external monitor ('Select poster that you want to use' shows 'Display of the laptop + Sony SDM-HS73', which is the monitor plugged in ext)
but no matter what configuration I try using Fn + F5 or change of display Configuration, I can't do anything but a black (backlight) display on the external monitor.

The monitor is receiving a video signal correctly: when he is off in laptop only the setting Fn + F5, it displays a warning 'no signal', but when turned on again I just get black.

I tried to change the resolution for the external monitor settings. They exactly match the native resolution of the monitor. Still nothing.
I tried 'Clone' and 'Dual View' mode.
Tried various different orders to turn on the computer laptop and monitor, Plug and unplug the device, etc.

Having installed the latest driver for the Toshiba (see above) site. Have NOT tried to install any other driver from NVIDIA site, as she warns to use Toshiba - but that's worth a try?

The clean laptop screen and all other aspects of the video are very good.

It worked ok in the past (I think that before I did the upgrade to Vista when it was still on XP).
Should I just wait for another update of Toshiba driver and maybe Vista SP1?

I really hope this isn't a hardware problem, because the monitor is recognized etc...

    Jonathan

    What port you used?
The (analog) external monitor port or the output port D-video?

View as far as I know that if you used the external monitor (analog) port, then you should choose analog in the nVidia-> current view

Then, you can use the FN + F5 key to switch between the two views.
