Step 1: Check with the manufacturer for the latest Windows drivers for the device.

In the drivers and software section, use the drop down menus to select your operating system and version.

Expand the menu to link drivers and installation instructions, see the download.

Step 2: If Canon does not have Windows 8 drivers available for this model, check the drivers that are available for previous versions of Windows.

If these documents are available, install the driver in Compatibility Mode.

1. download the driver for the previous version and place it on your desktop.

2. right click the driver installation file and select Properties / Compatibility tab.

3. place a checkmark in run this program in compatibility mode for.

4. in the drop-down menu, Select the previous version of Windows.

5. click apply / OK.

6. right click the Setup file and select run as administrator .

Step 3: If none of this does not work, check with the support of Canon or the support forums of Canon for people who may have found a solution.

    The printer is the Canon PIXMA MP160.  I made no changes to my computer.  I am adding to the homepage of Windows XP.  When I try to print from the computer (photo) I get the window "computer does not.  When I click on the options in this window, I have the Canon IJ Status Monitor & when I click on print in the monitor window that it prints.  I worked on this problem for about a week now.  I am looking for my original cd for the printer & think maybe the printer should be deleted & re installed.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

    Wouldn't hurt to uninstall and reinstall. You can get the drivers from this link.

  • Canon Pixma iP1700 reports a paper jam

    All of a sudden my Canon Pixma iP1700 does not feed the paper in rolls.  It seems to be a blockage on the right side of the roller.  It keeps telling me there is a paper jam, but I know it does not exist.  The printer worked fine until this week.

  • Canon PIXMA MX922 printer will allow no 2-sided Word documents

    I just installed a new Canon PIXMA MX922 printer to replace an old MX882.  Everything works fine and I am able to print on both sides documents from web pages and e-mail by checking the 'duplex' box on the menu drop down print...  However, I am unable to both sides print all Word documents.  No check box 'two-sided' descend, and no "duplex" option is available, as it was with the MX882.  I never had this problem with the old MX882.  Can you help me?

    To set the option to print double-sided on a Mac, please open the printer driver:

    1. Select layout... in the file menu of the application.  The Layout dialog opens.

    2. Select print... in the file menu of the application.  The Print dialog box opens. In the print dialog box, you can set the paper type and print quality for printing.

  • Canon Pixma MP800 printing problem

    I use Windows XP Professional.  I have a Canon Pixma MP800, who has been a very reliable workhorse for many years.  Right now when I print a Word document using a black ink only, it is printing in the layers of alternative 1 cm of the impression of light and darkness which looks like that I chose to print alternatively in "BOLD" and normal print.  When I print the same Word document using colors, it prints very well.  I tried to do a nozzle check, cleaning, and a clean, none have worked in depth.  I also removed the print head and cleaned in a solution without success.  All ink cartridges are full of ink.  When I do a test print, the top of the marked test PGBK page, displays the first cm to cross the lines perfectly, but the second cm vertical lines of lines alternating with areas of verticle.  Printing from Excel has the same problem.

    Someone had this problem?

    Looks like you have tried all the usual suspects.  It's time to contact Canon support; It is not a Windows problem.
