CanoScan 5600F Scanner appears as unknown in Device Manager

I have a new CanoScan 5600F scanner which appears as unknown in Device Manager. I downloaded and installed the latest driver (several times) from Canon.

  • I tried the scanner on two PC running XP Home - a new Compaq Presario and a new Barebone VisonMan. It does not work on either.
  • I also tried the Epson scanners on both machines, and they don't work either.
  • However, when I run the Compaq Presario with Vista (which came with it), works to scan Canon. Problem is, I don't use Vista (or Win7) and I have no intention of.

This seems to indicate that it is a problem with XP Home, do not recognize the scanner. I did not have this problem with any other USB device. Any suggestions?

    I did a clean install of Windows XP on my toshiba portege m200 (Tablet). I have most of the devices drivers installed, but there is one that I can't understand. The device manager says I have an "unknown device" on my "Intel 82801 dbm lpc interface controller.

    What is it? I thought it was the chip set, but I had installed the Intel chipset drivers (twice, just to make sure that I really did), but it still reads as 'unknown device' on ' Intel (r) 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller - 24CC.

    To resolve this issue go to the device, right click on the unknown device, Manager and then select set to update driver.
    When the Hardware Update Wizard appears, select the advanced option.
    From the next window, select the 'don't search. I will choose the driver' option
    Now, go to the Intel announcement and select good "82801DBM LPC Interface Controller - 24CC.
    Click OK and now it should work.

    Also, be sure you have all the drivers installed from Toshiba Web site:

    Would it be possible that the 3rd party software that you have installed to use the USB ports has tangled up the whole system?

    The driver for the unknown device that appear in Device Manager can be identified very easily.

    You have the Vendor ID and the device ID and the use of these two IDS in pci database would help you to find the right driver.

    By the way: If your Wlan and cam n t work, install the drivers matrix, you've already tried this?

    Have you ever tried to remove the drive from Device Manager CD/DVD? After this restart the laptop and your drive should appear correctly. Check this box!

    I installed the sound and it works
    I installed the network card and it works

    What are the above devices?

    Stand by. Which operating system you are trying to configure?

    Have you checked on the Toshiba download section if the installations Instructions document is available? If you follow this document you will install everything you need and everything will be OK.
    Anyway, multimedia controller can be peripheral multicard reader, network controller is probably wireless card. I can't say what unknown device because I know not what drivers you have installed.

    I agree with Brian Tillman here.  Contact Canon support is the right thing to do here because the scanner uses their drivers and software to operate.

  • CanoScan 5600f scanner a document

    I'm scanning three pages.  Analysis of the first page in PDF format (as it is supposed to), but the second page analysis as an image.  A third page then analyses in PDF format.

    Any ideas why this happens?  I have to open the image in another program, save it as a PDF and continue.

    Although I don't have the originals not rhe copies now, there was (occasionally, a photo on the page of text primarily. So I guess the pic of "could not decide" sw or text and taken wrong . Your solution (go manual) will work. Thanks for me direction in the right direction.

    The webcam driver v 1.1.1.4 is available on the page of the Toshiba driver and it should work properly.
    Did you check in the BIOS in webcam settings is enabled?
    Please do this first!

    BIOS-> Advanced-> Control Panel

    If the webcam is enabled, make sure that Win 7 value added package has been installed before the webcam software.

    If that does not solve the installation problem, I recommend to try a newer version of the software of the webcam that is set to the most recent series of portable Satellite

    I understand that your USB drives and internet connection works properly but it does not appear correctly in the Device Manager page and the network as appropriate.

    This problem could occur if the drivers were not properly installed or was unable to configure. As a Reader USB usually works if the default driver/generic drivers are present in the system. But as you rightly mentioned that gets listed under USB controllers.

    To better understand the issue, please send us the following information:

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?
    2. When this problem started?
    3. You did it all changes to the computer before this problem?

    I suggest you follow these steps and see if it works:

    Run the System File Checker

    File system check to determine if the problems you encounter on your computer are caused by one or more system files.

    You can read the following Microsoft article to repair corrupted using SFC tool files. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    Uninstall device drivers

    1. Press the Windows key + R
    2. Type devmgmt.msc
    3. Right-click on each device that is listed under the category unknown
    4. Uninstall each device and restart the computer

    After reboot, Windows will automatically install the device driver, and you should see the device listed in the appropriate category.

    I've been troubleshooting for a few days because Im having trouble connecting to World of Warcraft.  I discovered my adapter had the error code 31 cannot load drivers.     The driver seems if be installed properly, yet it shows in the 'Unknown' category in Device Manager.  I can burn discs and play discs if I run the program as administrator, but it says that "access is denied." if I try to use the drive without specifying a run as administrator.  Screenshots can be provided if it would be of any help.

    If Device Manager cannot identify the device, it will label it an unknown device.

    When a device is not functioning, Device Manager also typically displays an error message with an error code that comes with it.

    First, check what is the code for error on an unknown device in Device Manager.

    (a) open the Device Manager , look for the unknown device.

    (b) make a right click on the device and click on Properties, search now on the tab general to find the error code.
