• Transfer of a captivate variables module to another

  A colleague I work with wants to put in place two simple variables which keeps track of a score and one that holds a user name.

  The course will consist of a number of modules hosted on an LMS System.

  Is there a way to transfer variables between modules:

  Thus, for example, if in module 1, I enter my name as "Joe Bloggs" and I finished module 1 with a score of 200 when I load the module 2, I'll start with a score of 200 and it will remember the name I typed in module 1?

  The simpler way without JS, will use the new widget from CpExtra of InfoSemantics, which is for HTML output only.

• Captivate 8 does not "apply text and properties of text across all views."

  I want to have my text properties 'reset' overall views that I read in Captivate 8 is possible. The function States help Adobe:

  "You can now reset the properties of reactive text items or update all views to match the properties of the currently selected text element.   However, when I right click on my text from the caption of the fly out menu doesn't have this option. I have attached a picture of what looks like the fly on the menu. Any ideas how I can 'reset' after you move things around?

• Captivate 7 for Mac patch installation problems

  Was having a few problems getting 7 Captivate to recognize Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. Taking the advice I saw in another Adobe forum question and re-installed 7 Captivate. Of course 7 Captivate does not work on my Mac without 7-0-1 patch, but when I try to install the patch I get a pop-up message indicating that the administrator has removed the updates to my computer. Since I am the administrator and I didn't delete something, I think that this problem is due to my recent installation/upgrading to creative cloud for all my other Adobe applications.

  Anyone got any workaround for this?

  Welcome to the Adobe Forums!

  Please go to Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat

  Then copy and paste AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat to your desktop.

  Open AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat and change the value under the tag removed to "0".

  Now save the file and replace it with the file existing in Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0.

  Now, rerun the update patch and see if it solves your problem or not.

• How to make a backup of the folder for Captivate 7 Patch Layouts?

  I'm trying to follow the instructions for the Captivate 7 patch, but I don't know how to create a backup of the folder Layouts as the State of instructions to do so. In addition, they say to make backup "and delete it. They mean to delete the original file and keep the file backup that I create, correct?

  Important: before using Adobe Captivate 7.0.1 make sure you take a backup of the Layouts folder and delete.

  You just copy in a different folder, or rename it as, say Layouts_old.

• Captivate 4 - after patch, published projects don't break but skip

  Last week, I installed the patch to upgrade my version to Version 4.0.1 Build 1658.

  Once the hotfix has been installed, if I publish a file with a Table of contents, it works fine the first time.  However, the second time I run the published file, the first slide appears a fraction of a second and then it jumps to the first quiz question (if I quiz questions in the project), or to the last slide, I visited before the closing of the project.

  If I turn off the COT and republish it, I can navigate around the course, close and restart, and it behaves perfectly.

  I prefer to use the table of contents to have to manually build the keys.

  I did a search, but I have not found this problem elsewhere (does not mean he isn't here, just that I couldn't find it ).

  Any ideas about this, or do I have to submit a bug report?

  It is a problem for my company - we have a lot of people working on a sliding major Oracle, and OCD definitely saves on development time if we could use it.

  BTW, we examined the issue with projects that have been published the week before the patch was installed.  Projects with the table of contents worked correctly, and without OCD projects worked correctly.  So, it doesn't seem to be a problem with our environment.  This occurs only with files published after the hotfix has been installed and use the table of contents.  Yes, I checked the settings on the buttons and click areas to make sure that the break was always successfully configured.

• Insert symbol 9 Captivate does not

  I am trying to insert the copyright symbol into a line of text.  When I click on the button to insert symbol, the computer seems to freeze.  Nothing happens, the box will not open and I can't click on anything else.  When I click Esc I can't go to work in the course...

  Any ideas?  I used captivate on and off the years and this is a first for me.

  Did you upgrade from an earlier version or install the patch for version 9.0.2? In this case, could you clean up preferences and delete the Layouts folder in public documents while Captivate is closed, if you have not done before installing the patch/version?

  I missed the part about ESC to your original question, sorry. Shank pointed out what could be another cause of your problems.

• 8.0.0.145 Captivate project file fails and is corrupted on save

  I'm having the problem extremely aggravating where if I try to save my Captivate project file, I crash, then the file is corrupted and I can't reopen (thus losing my unsaved changes). So my only current solution - and of course a 'play with fire' - one is to NOT save the file. I can do all the rest: Preview, publish and so forth. I just can't save.

  Ideas?

  First version of 8 bit was buggy, why don't install you the patches? The current version of 8 is 8.0.3.

  Clear you the cache? You clean up preferences, run the CleanPreferences file in the tools subfolder in the installation folder. If you are on Windows, you launch Captivate with the option "run as Administrator".

  Run the 32-bit version of any software limit how much your RAM, the software can process. For example, even if I had 16 GB of RAM, the 32-bit version of Captivate might only be able to use some of these gigabytes. It could limit a large file how you could work on and the speed at which it fires.

  There was a bug in the first release of the CP9 (they are converted to shared standard actions). It was quickly resolved with the patch, but at this point that the correction is also in the latest version, which apparently does not install yet. This release is 9.0.1.320.   I have a huge problem with one of my projects. It was working fine and that it was completing something happened. One of my coworkers opened to check the faults of grammar of last minute, and when she tried to save him and it took him a long time she decided to close it. which resulted in the error "not responding" and the screen is empty. After this incident, non of us can open the project. When I try to load it goes to 10%, and gives me this message.

  Can you check if it's "locked" files on a system?

  You do not check the backup option in the preferences? It's always the first thing to do when you install or patch Captivate.

  The cache folder may be a secondary cache if you can identify it, you compress the folder corresponding to the date that you have finally opened the project.  Do not clear the cache at the moment.

• Saba 7 don't watch not completed status with Captivate 6, 8, 9

  Faced with a question to Saba 7. Build courses Captivate may not get filled up on the main page of Saba. I tested with Captivate 6, 8 and 9 - it is the same everywhere. Saba 7 do not showing status "Completed" (column of the State of completion next to the Start button) with courses build in Captivate - he remains "not rated".
