Card dead mother want to recover hard drive data

I have a Pavilion DV9700 dual hard drives.  The motherboard has gone and I want to recover data from the hard drive.   I have an IDE/SATA USB 2.0 adapter, but the connectors on the drive does not connect to the IDE or SATA connector standard...  Does anyone know an external connector that works on the disks installed in the Pavilion DV9700 PC...  Readers are model Fujitsu MHW2120BJ G2.  HP spare parts are 453198-001 7F0834

More that likely there is an adapter hard disk that needs to be removed. Most laptops use an adapter to connect hard drives to the motherboard.

    Hi KevinRy,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Unplug all external devices.

    Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

    Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:

    1.

    Right-click my computerand then click Properties.

    2.

    Click the Advanced tab.

    3.

    Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.

    4.

    Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.

    5.

    Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.

    Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.

    Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.

    Kind regards

  • Recover hard drive again?

    I read this topic on the forum earlier today, but it was 2009 when you post... now on 2015. I wanted this HP about 1.5 years have released 1 year extended warranty purchase and is it has not been renewed, and 6 months later H.D. click on clac dead. I don't know how these PC brand to do... the brand specfic coding of their substance; not their fault for her, but she didn't we customers do favors. So, the question is when I buy a new H.Drive will the recovery installation dvd, or what?

    Thanks, Dovahkiin

    Electronics is fragile, they can at any time, could last year 1 how 10 years depending on how lucky you are.

    Your new hard drive can be any manufacturer of your choice.  in your case, there must be at least 1.5 to and SATA 7200 RPM if you wish your recovery discs to restore your system.

  • 1260sf 6: 6 - 1260SF envy want: replacing the HARD drive

    Hi all

    I had all sorts of problems recently with my laptop so I ran a chdsk and it seems that my HARD drive is damaged and needs to be changed as soon as possible.

    I am running Windows 7 64 bit on a desire 6-1260SF - Ultrabook 15.6 "- Intel Core i5-3337U (1.8 GHz) - disk HARD 500 GB + SSD 32 GB - RAM 8 GB - Intel HD graphics card

    Apart from the fact that I am very disappointed in the sustainability of the equipment (the laptop was purchased only 18 months ago and I still use a laptop cooler), I was wondering what mistakes I need to avoid buying a replacement HARD drive.

    I did not open the laptop yet, but the faulty HARD drive is a Hitachi 500 GB 2.5 "SATA Hard Drive HTS545050. That being said, here are my concerns.

    (1) what should I look at when I get a replacement to ensure that there will be no compatibility issues?

    (2) can you name a few good quality of the HARD drive, I could go to replace (brand, size...)?

    (3) at this stage, an SSD instead of HARD drive editing would be a good idea (to condition already, I upgraded my RAM from 4 to 8 GB)?

    I want minimum hassle and without unpleasant surprises when I buy the replacement

    I get a compatible drive and plug it in, I'll be able to use it to off the bat and boot with USB to install Windows or are there (unfortunately) some steps involved in the preparation of the new drive?

    Thanks for your help.

    What has happened is that the acceleration function has stopped working and you see how slow a drive 5400 RPM is alone. But it is still the startup for Windows, right? Have you installed the Intel Rapid Storage program from the driver download page?

    You will get something like the above and you must make sure that the new hard drive is "accelerated" by the reader of the WSSD.

    This is done with the buttons 'Manage' and 'speed '. It is done in Windows and you can not set up through the RAID BIOS screen.

    Hi Robert!

    Looks like you want to make a backup during import. If this is the case, you can designate a different location for a second copy when importing.

    1. Check the mark a second copy of box in the management of the files Panel and choose your external drive in the menu drop-down
    2. Then you set regular destination of Lightroom in the Destination panel.

    However, if you mean that you want in the foreground images in Lightroom, but have them physically located on an external drive, then all you need to do is choose this drive in the Destination panel. Lightroom Catalog can be on a different drive.

    I find it useful, however, to use the automatic backup in file management Panel in case.

  • You want to add hard drive XP on my Vista computer.

    I have Vista on my computer and you want to add XP to use an old program. The XP is on a computer sooner I could add the drive to the computer later?

    Someone said I need to partition the HD on the Vista machine and install XP on it. That doesn't seem to be difficult to achieve. Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...

    If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    N °
    Installing XP will have different drivers from the motherboard installed on the old hard drive; so it would probably not start.
    It would take a clean install (if XP drivers are available for your newer computer), according to the XP license:
    If XP was preinstalled on your computer, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.
    The license of XP OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
    You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop
    If a license of XP at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
    But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.
    A single license is a single Installation.
    Try this instead:
    If this is not Vista compatible, read the info on the link above.
    It works for some programs, but not all.
    This applies to software programs, NOT hardware drivers.
    Hello
    Method 1: Please follow the link below:
    Check a drive for errors:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors
    Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost
    Method 2: You can use your favorite browser to review for a third party recovery tool which may help you to recover your data.
  • Recover hard drive - laminated thickness - (ESXi5.1)
    Hello.
    We recently made some major new buildings on our Windows server 2008R2.  We know have an E:\ drive that does nothing, but is 500 GB.  There is nothing in the E:\ I need to keep.  The problem is the former Administrator put in place the disc with thick so I can't retrieve the space.
    My plan to recover the space allotted was:
    1. in the server VM disk management, I would like to remove the drive.
    2. on vSphere, I then pull out and remove the hard drive for this particular virtual machine.
    My assumption would be that the 500 GB would then back up to Datastore1.
    Please let know us if I missed a step or steps or please tell me if I'm totally wrong.
    Thanks for help.
    Hello
    Here are the steps I followed to get the square of the unused space in virtual machine to the database.
    1. remove the disk volume, 2. Make the drive offline, 3. Make a right click on the VM-> change settings of-> remove hard drive also choose the option 'File Delte from data store'-> click ok
    The space will be reclaimed within the data store
    Hello
    You were already using successfully your HP recovery discs before this instance? The new HARD drive is connected to the same port SATA (SATA0) the original HARD drive was connected to?
    HP sold this PC in two geographic regions: the USA and the France.
    The number of product of the USA is Envy h8-1534
    The number of the French product is Envyh8-1534ef
    The USA product offers a DVD Recovery Kit four Win 64 8 build No. 13NA1RR8601. This build number should be located on the bottom of your Tower. No recovery kit is available for the number of French products.
    If you have a h8-1534 then a recovery kit is available here.
    You are under warranty? Contact HPfor replacement HARD drive if you are in warranty. I bought four HP from the PC to the HP USA Store and all have come with a two year warranty.
    Explain your problem with recovery disks, you did. HP support should be able to help. HP will support your PC with all the components in stock.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you
    Hello Paul
    Well, are not good news but it shouldn't be a problem to solve this problem.
    You can go into advanced with F8 boot menu? If Yes, select Repair my computer and follow the instructions on the screen. All that s. So, you can use HARD drive recovery.
    If you can t go into the advanced boot menu you should use the Toshiba recovery disc. You burn it? You need to start only with her and Windows will be reinstalled.
    If you don t have the recovery disc, you can order one at Toshiba directly:
  • 20-d113w want to: replacement hard drive
    Hi, I looked around the Board for instructions on replacing hard drive. I intend to replace the original sata drive 1 TB with a seagate 1 TB sata3 drive. I know this is probably a stupid question, but just installing the new drive and run the recovery software, or something must be done again disc before I run the software. Thanks for any help you can give
    If you reinstall from the recovery discs set, it will not make a difference.  If you use a cloning software, it may depend on the package.  If you need to reinstall using a Windows disk, it should be able to themselves deploy by asking the user questions.
