  Thanks for the info.  Disk management does not show the drive.  The problem was resolved after reloading BIOS, as suggested in another post.

I recently gathered the energy to connect the my book on my Airport Extreme Base Station (model 2014? the second model) to implement wireless backups. I plugged the MyBook on the base station, set up file sharing in AirPort Utility and created an account with access to the partition of TM on the MyBook under the section 'Sharing secured disk' utility.

  It is not MSE-you get a warning if it were.  Try another cable or try on another PC.  It sounds like the cable might be the problem if all of a sudden or iPod works.

  If your installation of Windows XP is up to date (sp 3 and updated to later critical date) and you have confirmed that the USB port is functional (other USB devices are recognized when connected), and the problem persists when you use other USB ports on the computer, then the likely problem is a bad cable or a fault in the camcorder.
