  Click with the right button on the speaker near the right lower clock - recorders - then right click in the BOX
  and check also show a disabled device and show disconnected devices. Then double-click on your microphone and
  on the levels tab - MUTE it. You could also experiment with using a level lower or less thrust on this

  If you are looking to get audio only from a YouTube video, all you need to do is read your video and while it's going to copy the link. Then on another tab, open listentoyoutube.com. Just follow the easy directions and paste the link.

  If Windows Media Player seems to work fine, but you cannot hear the audio, you will have a problem with your speakers or sound card. Use Device Manager to make sure that your sound card works correctly and is selected as the audio device by default.

  Verification of the sound settings

  Select the material and audio and noise
  Under playback.. What icons you see?
  Click Properties and then click headset/speakers
  According to the levels... is at 100% and not CUT?
  Under Advanced... What is the default format?

  If you are using a microphone, the only way would be to sit it in front of the speakers.

  You can connect the output line by line in and tweak the outgoing/incoming settings.
  Is there a reason you can't just open the file directly in Soundforge?  Playback/record is bound to lose quality.
