Cards PERC PE 2850

I kinda of PE2850 (and some older models), but I had read that the PERC 6/E has been supported on the platform.  There is literature that said Dell has been supported, but being that I did this research more than 3 months ago, I don't have the actual document more.  I found the cards not in good physical shape in the PCI slot due to a tab that sits on them.

With the support matrix I found yesterday, I now learn the PERC 6/E is not supported on the PE2850 and PERC 5/E is what you need.   So I bought now use a PERC 5/E card, and it does not fit in the slot.  It's a card more short, but also has a tab next to the PCI tabs that don't allow you to plug into the PCI slot.

How do you get these cards installed physically?  The tab touches the edge of the PCI slot.

I'm not aware of any problems of compatibility between MB/BP combos. Make sure the firmware is all of this to date.

  • PE 1759 TO PERC OR NOT

    Recently on a few pe1750s.

I noticed that they do not have the black card near extension PCI (optional perc card?)

Also, they do not have the raid battery to match.

Y at - it ROMB that will allow me to RAID 5?

Or do I need to enter the card and battery off eBay.

What are the benefits of the use of the onboard Controller perc vs?

No, if you are missing the ROMB material, you cannot use embedded RAID (ROMB = RAID On MotherBoard).

    Like this:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Dell-PowerEdge-1750-Server-PERC-4-di-ROMB-RAID-Kit-DP-N-CN-0Y0229-CN-0C0887-/201146624695?PT=US_Server_Disk_Controllers_RAID_Cards&hash=item2ed545eab7

The embedded controller is a SCSI controller only and does not all capacity RAID.  Each disc will be presented to the operating system and can be configured in a RAID managed by OS.  To use hardware RAID, you will need the kit, or you need card PERC 4 (SC or DC).  All the Controller PERC 4 taken support RAID 0,1,5 and 10 options.

  • How to add my 'fired' drive back to RAID1, PERC H710P and erase or foreign configurations...

    Hello

I just got a PowerEdge T620. The OS is in RAID1 (two 256 GB SSD), controlled by a H710P PERC controller.

When the computer was OFF, I took one of the discs, to see what it was the brand. (I bought the computer from a dealer and I wanted to just make sure I got what I paid for ). In any case, after you turn the computer back on, I noticed that the small screen at the front had changed color and showed a message. I checked the message and the computer seems to work with a disk in a single well. As it is supposed to.

I decided to put the disc back in French - while the computer was OFF. I noticed, that at the start, the system is now saying:

"Configuration foreign (s) found on adapter Press any key to continue, or 'C' load the configuration utility or the 'F' to import the foreign configuration (s) foreign and continue."

I did a search on here and on Google and was able to find something that looks like a 'response' to me. However, as I have never done something like this before, I would like to ask you guys and see if I'm about to do the right thing!

-When the system boots, press Ctrl-R.

    -I get to Setup BIOS card PERC H710P 4.00 utility - 0014

-Then, I press 'Ctrl-N' until I get to the page "foreigners."

-Once there, I insist on "PERC H710P adapter (Bus 5, Dev 0).

    -Once highlighted, I press 'F2 '.

-After pressing 'F2', a window opens, which says 'Foreign Config'.

-Then I press "ENTER" and another window opens with two options:

    'IMPORT' and 'CLEAR '.

From what I have read, I need to select "DELETE?" Not sure if?

    Thank you

  • Move the RAID5 array to another server

Had a RAID failure on an old PE2850. looked like two disks of default at the same time, which makes me suspect the PERC, not drives - especially because I moved the disks as a unit to another PE2850 and was able to mount it as a second table RAID (the new server OS on disk RAID1 disks 0 and 1, this table 2-5) and he acknowledged the table.

However, I can't mount a Windows partition.  I start the operating system on the new server and Disk Manager recognizes there is a drive, but I can't use it unless I format it, who will become the object of all the activity, which is at this stage to draw sort of useful data in the coast of the Bay.

Anyone can suggest a way to get this recognized by a new server table or card PERC or something?

You would be able to connect to a PERC 4 controller, otherwise it will not recognize the VD.

You could try editing under linux... sometimes that has a better tolerance (or the less different) for corrupted partitions/file systems. If the table of partition/filesystem is corrupted, you can also try the tools to try to fix it. If the damage is superficial, as they often work.

You said that you had two disks fail... describe how you got the table online. It is important and can determine whether or not the other attempts to retrieve data are futile.

I need to create a floppy disk with the driver to install the operating system. Help me please!

    VSZ,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The question is, the R520 does not support 2003 as the host operating system. It is possible to install on a virtual machine, but not as a host. You have to go with Server 2008 to have Windows as the host operating system.

  • LSI MegaRAID Storage Manager and Dell PERC cards?

    Hi all

I have a Dell PERC 6 / i in my whitebox ESXi 4 server and I seem to be missing some options when connecting to it via the LSI MegaRAID 2.91 Storage Manager - 05. Basically, it seems the only operation I can do is take the disks offline. I have no option to create tables, add/remove disks in bays or change RAID levels.

I can do all these things from the BIOS, this is obviously not the card. I had a glance the BIOS if it was something in TeleManagement prevents there but could not see anything, and I was wondering if these limitations due to a cut the officer of management in ESXi or something? If not, what could be causing the problem? When I log in MSM I use the account root on ESXi and MSM reports that I have full access.  As it is MSM is not very good for anything other than general information about my disks, card and backup battery.

Have you installed the OEM ESXi version for Dell machines, or just a generic of VM Ware?  If you install ESX (with console) you can then install OM, and will give you the access you want.  You can manage all of this on the web.  Otherwise ESXi is limited, and it is a known issue.

Have you tried to discuss with Dell?

  • PowerEdge 2850 - Perc 4e/Di - status of the RAID-1 array

I'm trying to give a sense of the info in OMSA 2.1.0 for a RAID 1 virtual disk on a server Poweredge 2850 + Perc 4e/Di.   Array disk 0:0 died at an unknown point in the past.  Info OMSA before replacing the drive:

We have added another 0:0 drive, he rebuilt successfully automatically and this is the current info:

So the State of the virtual disk RAID-1 is is more "degraded" and yet it is still showing only 0:1 Hitachi disk array and not the new 0:0 Seagate.  How this should be interpreted?  We also have another virtual disk raid 10 on this same server with discs model even who had also a drive down and replace this trained player the new Seagate drive not appearing in the table of Raid-10 list as expected.  the difference was that the Raid array-10, the original disk was displayed in OMSA as 'impossible', while on RAID-1 above, no other player has been listed.

It should show the other disk.  A few things to try:

    • Refresh the screen VD
    • Closing/re-open OMSA
    • Stop/re-start services OMSA (DSM)
    • Clear the ESM/Hardware log in OMSA
    • Restart the server
    • Updating system firmware (BIOS, ESM, PERC (first pilot), HARD drive)

All the foregoing may work, but it's probably caused by obsolete OMSA and/or firmware/drivers.

  • PERC 4e/Di undetected, PE 2850

Hi all! I'm having a bit of headache with this one, so I hope someone here can help me out.

Recently, I bought a PE 2850 (opportunity, opportunity), proceeds to the restart it, set the BIOS, a RAID 5 configuration with drives 4 x 146 GB installation and install a fresh copy of Ubuntu 10.04 Server. Everything worked perfectly for a few days, and then today I had an error on Ubuntu indicating an IO error. I couldn't run commands, or even to change directories. So, I tried a reboot, seeing as how it was my only option at the time.

While booting, the server does not detect the unit PERC 4e/Di at all. Before, he would do this right after listing the stats from CPU and would proceed to initialize and set rotation readers. However, it is ignored now and goes directly from the DRAC and so on. Then, it comes back with the error start and strike F1 to reboot or F2 for Setup. F1 obviously makes me nowhere, so I went into the BIOS. Everything was fine except under the priority/boot devices. There is no present hard drives to boot from, just ethernet, floppy, CD-ROM and virtual methods.

I have tried since the relocation of the module, RAM, battery, and RAID key. Although nothing has worked, as along a blow as it was. The lights on the hard drives are of course and green. This isn't a question of power.

So, any help would be appreciated in tracking down this problem and I hope to remedy. If you need more information, I'd be more than happy to try to provide as much as possible. Here's my server features.

    Dell Poweredge 2850

    Cheetah of SCSI 4 x 146 GB 10 k drives

Two seats. that I would like to start.

    1. I know that you said you reinstalled several components, was resettled so riser? The extension is part of the integrated RAID controller and should be replaced as a troubleshooting step.

    2. If enter you the F2 BIOS Setup, and proceed with the embedded devices, check and see if the

Integrated RAID controller is set to active, active SCSI RAID, or offshore. (It should be set to the active RAID)

    Tell us what you find.

    Thank you.

  • PowerEdge 2850 perc 4e/di has no road

I just want to confirm before I replace the failed drive with someone who has experience. I am running openmanage have 2 virtual disks raid 1, the 1st shows two thin discs. The 2nd shows a failed drive. These are hot swappable disks and I have some records of exact replacement on-site. It seems too simple that change to the new drive and clicking on rebuild the right?

Server always remains online during the reconstruction of the new correct player? If the performance of the server are reduced during the reconstruction could I for the day exchanging the defective drive again and then open a session remotely late into the night and click on rebuild? (I can't access it remotely, no problem there).

Just never failed before and looking for someone who has been there and a heads-up.

    Thank you

    Youngfam,

That is right. The server remains online. From there you remove the failed drive and then after about 20 seconds, insert the replacement. Now the raid controller should automatically start this reconstruction for you, but if not then you would need to do a manual rebuild or assign the replacement as a spare drive, resulting in its reconstruction.

This is the manual for the Perc 4e/di - http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/Common/dell-perc-4-di_User's%20Guide11_en-us.pdf

It contains additional information regarding new buildings and replacing failed hard drives.

Regarding performance, the default rebuild rate is 30%, so it affects performance a bit during the reconstruction. Not to where users would notice, unless under a heavy load.

If you remote access to the best way to control the reconstruction, and everything would be to install Open manage server administrator on the server. It will allow you to monitor and manage the health of the server and the controller. You can get OMSA here - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-2850?driverId=G2WT6&osCode=WNET&fileId=2883471492&languageCode=en&categoryId=SM

Now with installing OMSA he will call to reset, so you can schedule downtime if you want to install this package.

Let me know if this helps and answers your questions.

  • Card mother Dell T110II PERC S100 S300 RAID SERVERS2003 integrated use.

    Hello world!

I'm not Moren help me, my DELL PowerEdge T110 II serverbecause the use of a test software, you must install the SEVER2003 32-bit system, using the onboard RAID, two 500 G SATA hard drives, I know not what method of installation to make the machine not not blue screen. I hope I have good luck, thank you.

    My first suggestion:

Install Hyper-V or VMware on the server, then 2003 as a virtual machine.

    My second suggestion:

Load driver for RAID controller to the floppy F6 prompt (the ONLY way 2003 knows how to get the storage third-party drivers).  If not, there is a diskette, use nLiteOS.com the driver into the installation media.  The driver is below:

    My third suggestion:

Disable the RAID card on board and implement mirroring in the operating system (disk management).

  • Reference Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid card device driver

Good morning community, I'm trying to find the Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid adapter Device Driver for Windows 2008 R2 Standard OS. Thanks in advance for your help. Modem489

You don't need to load a driver for the PERC 6 / i in Server 2008 or newer version, the driver is 'native' for Windows.  If you think that you need a driver, I suspect it is because you tried to install and it is not all discs.  If Yes, do not forget that PERC does NOT support RAID/JBOD, then you must configure disks to a virtual disk (VD, matrix RAID) before they can be presented to the OS.  It can be configured in the CTRL-R utility (be sure to check the boxes of progress/Initialize options too).

  • Change drives on DELL PERC 6 / I integrated RAID card

Two of the disks on the RAID5 not get reinstalled all the way and configuration came as foreign. The only option we had was to clear the configuration. We did this and know the foreign option is grayed out and will not provide the import option. I saw an exchange of views to change readers that can work for the information. Is the option. This is the exported log file.

A change is your only option now.  The scenario you describe, the foreign configuration had to be imported, not cleared.  Compensation configuration tells the controller to ignore this configuration then.  If you do not have the ability to import, then we should have examined why.  I would suspect you have a PERC 5 firmware is up-to-date.

(Your controller log has been eliminated - download the file itself somewhere, of not not copying and pasting its content, because it becomes illegible.)
