Change drives on DELL PERC 6 / I integrated RAID card

We have a DELL 2950, who has two 6 climb together total as RAID1 and is the boot drive. Four others have been implemented in RAID5. Two of the disks on the RAID5 not get reinstalled all the way and configuration came as foreign. The only option we had was to clear the configuration. We did this and know the foreign option is grayed out and will not provide the import option. I saw an exchange of views to change readers that can work for the information. Is the option. This is the exported log file.

A change is your only option now.  The scenario you describe, the foreign configuration had to be imported, not cleared.  Compensation configuration tells the controller to ignore this configuration then.  If you do not have the ability to import, then we should have examined why.  I would suspect you have a PERC 5 firmware is up-to-date.

(Your controller log has been eliminated - download the file itself somewhere, of not not copying and pasting its content, because it becomes illegible.)

I'm not sure understand it.  What is your configuration (PD and VD)?

  • Windows 7 x 64 driver for Dell PERC 320/DC

    Dear Dell,

I'm migration of Windows XP 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit and I'm looking for drivers for my Dell PERC 320/DC (RAID SCSI PCI - X controller).

There is no compatible driver on this site, I've tried them all, even the driver XP 64-bit.

Because I know the controller is based on Adaptecs ASR-2200, I went looking on their website for the drivers, but they were not compatible either. I tried them.

Adaptec said there is a driver for the embedded ASR-2200 on the DVD - Windows 7/Installation, it's true, but also that, if selected manually is not compatible: when you try to install the driver, it returns "the device cannot start. (Code 10) ».

I tried updates firmware, such as provided by Adaptec for the ASR-2200, but nothing helps: the type of controller does not match. No firmware updates have been executed. The card still has the original and functional v4.0.0 build 5813 firmware on it.

The controller has always worked and it still works perfectly when using, for example, windows XP 32-bit, so it is not defective.

The chipset of computers is also not cause some sort of hardware conflict, then it works very well in both my Precision 690 and T5400 under windows xp 32-bit, BUT NOT in windows 7 64 bit.

I even contacted Adaptec on this issue, but they told me to contact Dell after trying what I already have.

I already checked this support site and found these interesting links, but none were of no help:

    http://support.Dell.com/support/eDOCS/storage/RAID/P41698/320UG/en/index.htm

So I hope that now a compatible driver indication can be given so that I can proceed with my Dell products.

Please, help me on this one, it's my last hope.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Dell Studio XPS 9100 integrated video card?

Hi guys, I own a Studio XPS 9100 and I currently have GPU issues.

I want to use my PC without having to rely on my graphics card. The studio XPS 9100 has an integrated video processing system? If so, how can I connect to that?

I am aware that the Studio XPS 9100 is not an integrated video connector, and I have to use the connector available on the video card in the expansion slot to connect to my monitor.

    Hi Poorbeggarman,

The card mother Studio XPS 9100 has a GPU integrated, but it is disabled, and there is no way to enable it. You have no other choice than to replace your video card.

  • PowerEdge 2900 Perc 6 / i internal Raid Controller

OK, so I use a server Dell PowerEdge 2900 with a PERC 6 / i integrated RAID controller

I have configured the RAID array very well, installed Windows 2008 R2 and works fine and dandy

The only problem I encounter is that, when starting the server (Post), I get a message on the cable SAS B are not connected or misconfigured.  The bottom of the basket on my server, which goes to the internal drives, has only a port where I can plug a cable between the Perc 6 / i.  Where is the 2nd wire supposed to go?  I can't find the second port.

    Thank you

I get a message on the cable SAS B are not connected or misconfigured.  The bottom of the basket on my server, which goes to the internal drives, has only a port where I can plug a cable between the Perc 6 / i.  Where is the 2nd wire supposed to go?  I can't find the second port.

PERC connector 0 goes to the bottom of basket. Connector on the PERC 1 connects to the modular Bay. If you don't have the module Bay optional then you ensure that you use the 0 on the PERC and not the connector 1.

  • Need Driver for Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 4600 w / integrated video

I was looking for a video driver for Windows 7 with no luck.  The I need for the computer is a Dell Dimension 4600 with integrated video.  When I tried the Dell Web site, they show only a driver for XP, because I'm assuming that it was the only BONE the 4600 can run without its standard equipment.  The RAM has been improved to 1.75 GB, so 7 will run on it without any problem, but the only screen resolution that works is 640 x 480.  I tried to go into the advanced settings, the list of all the screen modes, but when I select a higher resolution, reduce it, maximize, and close buttons go black and parts of the screen are becoming blurred.  I tried two different monitors, so I'm sure I just need a driver.  I can't find one that fits.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!!!

Call Dell and ask if the driver you need exist. If they tell you
they did not create, you're out of luck.

  • Reference Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid card device driver

Good morning community, I'm trying to find the Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid adapter Device Driver for Windows 2008 R2 Standard OS. Thanks in advance for your help. Modem489

You don't need to load a driver for the PERC 6 / i in Server 2008 or newer version, the driver is 'native' for Windows.  If you think that you need a driver, I suspect it is because you tried to install and it is not all discs.  If Yes, do not forget that PERC does NOT support RAID/JBOD, then you must configure disks to a virtual disk (VD, matrix RAID) before they can be presented to the OS.  It can be configured in the CTRL-R utility (be sure to check the boxes of progress/Initialize options too).

    See you soon

    Chris

Appearantly this is related to the latest driver from Dell. I've found a workaround, but it's a bit complicated:

1 connect a USB stick which is big enough

    2. install Wndows 8.1 on the * USB drive *.

    3. start Windows, and then remove the current driver and install the previous driver for Windows Server 2012.

    4. use the 3rd party software (say that Ghost) to copy the windows from USB drive to VD on Dell PERC H710P controller.

    5. start Windows in the USB drive again and use 'bcdedit' to clean boot stuff

in any case, I'm LSI 9361-8i, so it won't be a problem for me in the future...

  • Dell Power Edge R410 & Dell Perc H700 modular F2WGY

    Hi guys

Need some advice please, a few weeks ago, we bought a Dell R410. This came with a modular 6/ir Perc. However, when we arrived at the installation of drives we noticed that the controller did not recognize disks larger than 2 TB. It's not good because we need to use 2 x 3 and 2 x 500 GB disks in a RAID 1 Configuration.

After Googling autour, I came to the conclusion that the card that it came with the "Perc 6/ir' does not support disks larger than 2 TB.

So, I advanced and bought a new modular a "Dell Perc H700 F2WGY" controller which apparently supports disks more great.

the controller came yesterday so I removed the old Perc 6/ir controller from the slot in the bottom of the map editing and trendy "Dell Perc H700 F2WGY" modular at the same place. : Photo of slot, I inserted H700

    H700 card: see picture

    PERC 6/ir map: see picture

Anyway, once I inserted the card and started, I was presented with the error; "PCIE training error" system HALT.

Obviously this would not start any further. So I brought the wrong card? im confused at the moment between modular and integrated? the pcie slot is low for integrated only cards?

I then add the new map on the PCIE Top slot. the system then started and he could see the card. However, it found no readers?

What exactly I do bad will this card work at all? or I'm out of luck and need another card?

    Cappilio,

The problem you are experiencing is due to the model of the H700. Map H700 modular version is actually designed for the blade server Poweredge series. The model that you would need is the H700i which is the version that is integrated, designed to go into the white storage controller slot you are talking about. The references are KK67X and CNXVV. The latest model of the H700 is the H700A which is the adapter, it's the model that is necessary for installation in a PCIe location.

This link explains in detail in the overview H700 - http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pvaul/en/perc-technical-guidebook.pdf

Let me know if it helps.

  • Help needed with two new HHD to RAID 1 PERC 6 / i integrated controller

We have a client that has an out of warranty PowerEdge T610. On the Dell OpenManage Server Admin, I can see that he can see my 1 RAID PERC 6 / i integrated controller. On one of the controllers, we have a RAID 5 that has 4 discs dedicated to a data store (drive D), we two discs devoted to the Windows SBS 2008 (drive C) operating system on RAID 1.

When we look at the server, I have physical disks located in:

    Our drive D data store:

    • 0:0:0
    • 0:0:1
    • 0:0:2
    • 0:0:3

    Our reader C found in:

    • 1:0:4
    • 1:0:5

We just added two new hard drives for RAID 1 based on the conversation we had with Dell, they recommended that we can try from C data to the new larger disks. When to Dell Open Manage looking at the physical disks on the PERC 6 controller / i integrated, I can see that it has detected two new 500 GB SATA drives that the client installed. However the tasks available do not allow me nor their format to use as they appear in the management of the computer as a disk that is available for use. Is there something that we are completely absent here?

Regarding the new disks located here:

    • 1:0:6
    • 1:0:7

My options for available tasks are the following:

    • Blink
    • Unblink
    • Assign Global relief
    • Claire...

I already have them deleted once as I didn't know if they should be formatted to be recognized, but in the computer management disk management they don't even appear at all. I thought that I had a task of 'on-line' that I could assign to the readers so maybe they appear to start to use the new storage HHD.

With regard to the current firmware for the controller.

    • Firmware version: 6.2.0 - 0013
    • Driver version: 2.24.00.64
    • The Storport driver version: 6.0.6002.18005

I have attached a PDF file to this post to view details on the disks. Sorry for the fine print, but it's a PDF so you should be able to zoom. Any assistance about why readers as not detected in disk management would be absolutely awesome. :)

    -Digity

PERC does not support non RAID... you can just throw the discs and use them. You'll need to set up and initialize a new RAID array with the readers. It is not a task of "physical disk", therefore in OMSA, go to the page of the virtual disks and click the new link Wizard of VD at the top of the page to create a new VD of the BONE.

  • Warehouses of unstable data using PERC 5 / i integrated controllers ESXi 4 Update 1

    Hello

Already had an ESXi 3.5 installation works well and booting from a USB flash drive. My system uses two Dell PERC 5i integrated adapters. Shut down the system and it has restarted on another device USB with ESXi 4 Update 1 (currently without a license). I looked in the HCL and PERC controllers appear to be there. The new version seems to start only are fine but no data in the client stores.  So I started experimenting and created a store of data on vmhba1 controller. In the "Adding storage" Wizard, I did this: chose disk/LUN - & gt; Highlight vmhba1 - & gt; the next screen says disc is empty if it was not when used under ESXi3.5 - & gt; Enter the name 'slow-drive' - & gt; has chosen the smaller block size setting "256 GB, block size: 1 MB '-& gt; Click Finish. The system seems to create the data store. But when I start to browse the data store and copy a file to it, she starts and seems to copy then produced an IO error. If I reboot, the storage diappears.

I've seen references to the use of some utils esxcfg-volume and fdisk-l to persistent editing shells. But this I/O question seems strange.

Are the Perc 5 / integrated i indeed took in charge the controllers?

Do I have to use a certain version of BIOS for controllers (I have them update code recent BIOS that worked with ESXi 3.5)?

    All ideas are welcome.

    Thank you

  • Which option of DELL PERC 6 / i firmware should I download?

We simply have to upgrade one of our hosts ESX 3.5 U5 vSphere 4.0 (running on a DELL PowerEdge 2950 server).  Then we install OpenManage 6.1 on it.

OpenManage, we see the PERC 6 / I have firmware must be updated - 6.1.1 - 0047 current version firmware is older than the 6.2.0 - 0012 version firmware required for a model 0x1F0C controller: controller 0 (PERC 6 / i integrated)

At DELL, we find that there are a number of download options.

    (1) we would like to know which one should we use - DELL_PERC-6-I - INTEGRATED_A11_R216024.exe or RAID_FRMW_LX_R216024. BIN

    (2) require a floppy drive as we do not have on this server?

    (3) is there any requirement to install firmware - as: enter the Maintenance Mode... etc.

    Thank you

You need the RAID_FRMW_LX_R216024. BIN file, just run in the service console, no need floppy. It is certainly a good idea to put the host in maintenance mode and to reboot the host after you apply the firmware.

    Hi all

  • Reference Dell PERC 6 / i stand?

    I have a Setup Raid 6 on a Dell PERC 6 / i on a Supermicro H8DGU

running a trial of the esxi 5.5u2

No matter what I try, I can't do the Dell raid card is displayed in the storage adapters. I don't get any device also appear for passthrough if it means something.

I have the AMD - V active and I had once made quick initialization (it's now the initialization in the background) I saw him appear on the list as a possible drive to install esxi. That tells me the esxi sees the card and the raid. But once I'm in vsphere nothing appears. Have not found a lot of messages from people not able to pick up this card so I think that the problem is just me. Ideas of things to check?

But I guess that even with 'Boot Support' is enabled on Perc, is yet to appear in ESXi?

I just checked your listing of motherboards to Supermicro. It employs riser card for the PCIe slots. Just to rule out it because there are a lot of wiring on the Perc: the card is well adjusted to the port of mounting?

You can check if ESXi usually sees the device by runiing "lspci - vvv" on the CLI/ssh. It lists the devices seen by the kernel, if Perc is not here I would consider the Perc is defective or some strange PCIe connection problem.

I have a Perc 6 / I works well for a client on a DELL Poweredge 2950 ex personalised Dell VMWare 5.5 Update 2 but on SAS, disks. But it's all DELL hardware and software side. I assume that the custom DELL VMWare image works only on DELL systems.

I have found several traces as the Perc 6 / I could run a little crazy if you use disks not certified by DELL. Also the Perc 6 controllers do not seem to be supported more than 2 TB of drives (see for example: disk HARD Support for 2.5 to 3 TB drives and beyond - TechCenter Extras - Wiki - TechCenter Extras - Dell Community)

So, you can probably run the test to disconnect all readers of your first and remove the Perc firmware RAID configuration and see if ESXi detects and it lists. If it does not help either I ran the test on different materials/mobo.
