CCNP 300 - 206 (SENSS) safety switch

Hi all

Currently, I am studying for CCNP security 300-206 (SENSS).

I came across the following doubts. If they seem to be stupid & funny, I can't go to my car without posting here.

1 > what will happen if we give "Maximum authorized MAC 5" and 'Sticky MAC address' orders together under the same Interface?

2 > does DHCP Snooping Database table stores the NON-DHCP Clients(Lets say static) MAC & IP addresses?

3 > mechanisms made DHCP Snooping and dynamic ARP Inspection will work under the plain layer 2 only choose?

4 > can "Source Guard" stop rough APR, as the dynamic ARP Inspection packages?

5 > private VLAN interfaces can communicate with the primary VIRTUAL local Network Interfaces?

It may need little explanation - here's the scenario:

Suppose we have 100 primary VLAN, VLAN 300 community VLAN 200 and isolated.  And here's the interface assignment:

GI Gi0/2, 0 / 1--> VLAN 100 primary

GI Gi0/4, 0 / 3--> community VLAN 200

GI 0/5, Gi0 / 6--> VLAN isolated 300

But we have converted only Gi0/1 in the Promiscuous Port and mapped VLAN 200 and 300 of VLAN.

Can Gi 0/3, Gi0/4, Gi 0/5 & Gi0/6 contact GI 0/2?

Could someone please help?

Thanks in advance,

Prasanna Kumar deully

(1) port-security allows a single MAC by default. Post-it adds the learned address to the config and 'fixed' this address. If you change portsecurity to allow five addresses, then all these up to five addresses are added to the configuration.

(2) No, if you use this table for other functions such as DAI or IPSG, you will need to define exceptions of static for systems without DHCP. Before you implement these features, I make sure that ideally all systems use DHCP. Cameras, printers, multifunction devices and so on. Many of them get bookings on the DHCP server, but they must use the DHCP protocol to do functions such as DAI and IPSG very.

(3) what is a "simple layer 2 switch' for you? Today, the definition of Layer2 or Layer 3 defines how the device it is transmission. A Catalyst 2960 is generally used with Layer2 forwarding. But this does not mean that there is no function to look in the payload and to inspect the traffic up to the application layer. These functions are also available on the older Catalyst 2950 (initially there wasn't no DAI, but DHCP Snooping) and are now available on all switches access (catalyst).

(4) function no, each has its own security function. DAI is to inspect the ARP-payload, IPSG is to inspect the source addresses.

(5) don't know what you mean...

If Gi0/3-Gi0/6 are configured for private VLANs as shown, then they can communicate directly with Gi0/2. If they are not yet configured (I guess that's what you mean by "converts"), as they are probably members of a VLAN different and can communicate with Gi0/2 through a Layer 3 device.

  • Compatibility of VLAN with Cisco

    Hello

We just bought 10 x new Netgear switches (all M4100) to add to an existing Cisco infrastructure.

Simple configuration with only 6 Valns.

5: Admin, 30: VOIP, 101: management, 100: a set of Workstations, 102: second series of Workstations, 200: IPTV, 400: Internet, 401: Wireless Management

All I wanted to do was: 2 last ports each switch netgear = T and all the VLANS. I have not identified all ports if I want to use in the appropriate vlan

101 of VLAN is my Managementt Vlan. (Need to configure inter vlan routing for this to work)

I only turned on three switches up to now and all three do not work. They work for a while and that packets but do not receive all.

    What I am doing wrong?

What I need to get rid of the original vlan1 on the netgear?

Is that what I need config in the STP to make these compatible with Cisco (300 and 400 series) switches.

I use an optical backbone on Cisco and Netgear switches.

    Sincere greetings,

    Hi Moussa,.

    Thanks for reaching out.

    We got it working.

Step 1: upgrade to the latest firmware.

    Step 2: Forget the MISTLETOE.

We had a few questions about the old firmware - causing links to trunk have some incompatibility with their tag and removed the images between Cisco and Netgear brand.

After the upgrade of the firmware that we had access to "switchport mode access" and "switchport mode trunk" orders fixing the access port and trunking issues.

    Thank you Mr President,

  • SMU-4137 clamping voltage

We are currently assessing module SMU - SMU 4137.   We love the ability to measure low noise and the amps of output of 1 a.  However, we are concerned with the ability to output 200 VDC.   During normal use, we would never go more than 20 v DC, but if the module has got somehow given by accident at 200Vcc that could be deadly to someone touching the output contacts.

The module has a limiter of voltage of equipment that we can define so that it never turn off more than 20V?  I do not trust that the remote control the guaranteed value of the security, because someone could accidentally activate the output 200Vcc.

    Thank you

    Patrick

I did not create these yet, so I can't test it myself.  But the manual says "with lock open terminal security level/limit the output voltage is limited to +/-40 VDC and protection will be triggered if the voltage measured between the HI and LO terminal exceeds +/-(42 Vpk +/-0,4 V).»  My reading was that he could operate in low voltage without a safety switch connected.  In addition, it looks like all the limits that you can set are made in the software.

  • Agilent b2901A power source constant

Hi so I have a source of b2901a agielnt unit and before she set up to generate a constant tension, but now I need to a constant current being out but I can't seem to make it work. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

There are several things that could cause that.  My guess is that you hit a limit of compliance.  There is a security setting in the instrument.  When tell you him to out put current it will be than the output current and go to what voltage it needs to do this.  There is a parameter called compliance that prevents it going more high voltage X and you will thus limit current if necessary to stay under X voltage.  My guess is that this is what is causing your problem.  You can set it by sending configure output Protection.  Another option is a security setting where a safety switch must be connect to the system if it the voltage will be above 42V (I think it's the level).  So if you're above you will need to check the manual and see what needs to be done to put in place only.  My tests are low voltage, so I never looked at that.    Let me know if you still have any questions.

  • roar of hard disk and the computer freezes for a few seconds

My hard drive makes a sound whirring for a few weeks now and when I type in emails or messages like this, the computer freezes for a few seconds. Any ideas how to fix this?

A desktop computer. Your problem could be overheating.

You must remove the side panel right and remove dirt dust bunnies fans. Also, make sure that all the fans are working. Safety switch the computer off and pull the power cable before removing the side panel. You can then move the computer backon and check that the fans are working.

Then, turn off the computer and some time for that cool. It is best to use a wrist band, which you set on the casing of the computer to you the earth before touching anything inside the envelope. You can buy one in a store of computer accessories. Static electricity can damage a motherboard if you don't take precautions.

Then, you use a small brush to remove the sheep of dust around the fan on the processor. I used an electric razor, cleaning brush. I use an Air blower to clean the power supply fan. An air Duster is also useful fopr cleaning keyboards.

Removal of the dust bunnies should reduce the noise that makes your computer. It can also reduce overheating, which can lead to errors of Blue Screen of Death.

Another way to check the hard disk to see if it is overheating is to use HD Tune 2.55 (free):

You have to scroll the page to see the freeware version.

the problem is that the port is not see the light when connect you to the laptop. How am I supposed to enter GUI.

No idea why? Why the port is in shutdown state and not enable?

    Ok

First of all, try several ports and if you have another position available, please try this. Also check the cable that you use, it's a good idea to test the cable with another piece of equipment to ensure that you have a good cable. It is normal that the power led is flashing, it will do that while on 192.168.1.254 default IP address.

The cause of the unexpected stops is not immediately obvious. Here are a few notes that I wrote a while back on this type of problem.

Most system failures result in a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and creating a report dumpfile providing that the computer has been configured to create reports.  In a limited number of system failures no dumpfile is created. A report is generated when the computer is then started and logged in the system log in Event Viewer. The report is given a number of event ID 6008 and provides very little useful information, save that the cause is unknown and it took place at the date and time specified. . Another report is placed in the reliability monitor with a red ORB on the line from various failures and it is saved as a failure critical. Unfortunately, the technical details for this type of failure revealed no additional information.

The most common causes of this type of failure that all relate to the power failure. These may be because:
    1. the user has pressed the Power On / Off button.
    2. a power failure or a loss of supply to the home or office where the computer is located. If that happens, it will be often obvious because electric lights are only other electrical devices turn off.
    3. a faulty electrical device on the same circuit that the computer or the computer triggers the slave switch or blow a fuse and shut it down for security reasons.
    4. the cable between the seizure of power and the computer becomes disconnected at either end.
    5. a power surge or a lightning strike occurs. Your computer needs to connect to a power supply without a break, which then connects to the power supply. If an incident occurs, you need to reset the power supply without a break. Without one of these units in place, a shot of lightning or power surge can damage the computer.
    6. a defective power supply. The best test here is to remove the existing power supply and replace it with a PSU that is well known with the same capacity. Most individuals do not keep a supply of alternative at hand.
    7. a power connector damaged or disconnected cable or the motherboard in the computer. You can check the cable is properly connected, but a damaged motherboard is not easily checked.
    8. If the computer is a laptop check if the battery can be fully charged, hold the charge and was or was not connected to a power supply when the failure occurred.
