  I have a Satellite 5100 503 and was really satisfied until yesterday.
  Now it has stopped working.
  What I did: closed the laptop after work (everything is ok) and it only stems for a while. When I opened the laptop again to continue working, nothing happened.
  Only the small frontdisplay showed me a spinning CD (no CD inserted) and battery light. After pressing the button on the sur-signe appeared, but nothing happened again. By pressing the button again (a few seconds), do go away on-sign. No display, no fan, no noise of hard disk in any case (ono/stop). Insert an audio CD and works by pessing the play button! Soundsystem works well.

  Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

  have you tried to remove the battery for about 5 to 10 minutes! It seems that the laptop is unable to start the file hibernation to start windows. You can also try to push the button to start for 5 seconds.

  I've never heard of such question it s so very interesting to hear about this issue. Given that you never connected an external monitor, it must be something else...
  Did you ever done some update the BIOS on this machine?

  Maybe, if you have some, this could be the problem. Otherwise, I have a work around (it could be useful):

  Remove the AC adapter and the battery from the machine and leave the machine for some time (1-2 hours). Then, start the machine and check if it works.

  If this isn't the case, then you must send your machine to the service since it could be a serious hardware problem (I mean if you really reinstalled vista and problems persist after the reinstallation, then it IS definitely a hardware problem).

  You can also try some update BIOS if it is not already done...

  Normally I don't expect that optical drives on laptops have same life expectancy compared to fixed players of our systems in the House. I always use external ODD mine are larger, they use separate power supplies. I bought one of them for the $360 4 all about or 5 years back and it is still ongoing.

  Usually if the laptop won't turn on properly then a hardware problem was detected.

  In many cases workaround posted by Feliks (remove the battery and adapter, wait 30 minutes, reconnect the two parts and try to power upward) could contribute to power the laptop but if this workaround doesn't help then a help from a technician of the ASP is necessary and indispensable.

  From my own experience press any additional buttons will not help you so I think that question is related to a hardware problem that should be checked by ASP.

  My touchapad worked well on both the system and dedicated driver (synaptics). One day I turned it off using Fn + F9 and after that I couldn't activate it. I used the pilot system then. So I decided to install the system fresh - same problem. I almost thought that touchpad is broken. However, today, I noticed that when I disconnect the USB mouse, and then between this action and touchapad sound (inform of this action) of the system works - for approx. 0.5 seconds. It moves! But I failed to turn on.

  I don't understand what's the point. I read some post on other forums. It seems that other people have same problem. They have different but always Toshiba notebooks. I think that we need professional help. Can get us?

In addition here it s only a user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me. If you want professional help, get in touch with an authorized service provider.

  In your case, I recommend a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility. The disc can restore factory settings (out of box) with all the necessary drivers and tools. After this installation everything should work properly again.

  There are 2 different Realtek audio drivers! Please check them both!

  Sounds like there of something wrong with your installation of Windows 7 so the microphone doesn t work anymore...

  I put t know what Satellite P200 you have exactly, but if you can t find a driver Windows 7 for webcam, choose another model which is fully Windows 7 taken in charge, e.g. by Satellite P300.
