  I have a PSC 1315 printer I've used for several years on a system with Windows XP without any problems.  After buying an HP Pavilion 500 with Windows Pro 8.1, I migrated my printer to the new computer.  I have refused to use the original driver and was directed to download the latest driver and software for that printer from HP Web site.  At first, things seemed ok, until I stumbled upon several questions, which is this one.

  The first two weeks, I didn't see this error in the solution Center, but all of a sudden it began to appear.  The first time I saw it, the printer is turned off (standby) and when I turned it on, the error has disappeared, and I was able to use the Solution Center.  Now (from last week), the error never goes away.  I've tried everything I can think of, including physically disconnect and reconnect the printer, run diagnostic printer, etc..  Nothing works.  I'm afraid that there was some automatic update that ruined the connectivity of its Solution.

  Now, here is the information that will throw you a loop for: the printer works in all directions.  I am able to scan, character, etc. without any problems.  I can not just use Solution Center to do.

  1. is this a known issue, and what is the solution?
  2. how to disable all automatic updates for this printer and software?

  I noticed that all of your posts on several issues that have known you for upgrading to a new PC with Windows 8.1. Given all the issues, I'd say running the HP print and Scan Doctor and using this specific tool to uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  I'm looking for the HP Solution Center for my Windows 7 64-bit OS.  He was not an upgrade of Vista.  It is a new laptop (Copmaq Presario CQ62) for installation of factory Windows 7 x 64.  What I saw in my research involved a system of upgrading Vista to Windows 7.

  I have two printers that have the same problem.  An OfficeJet 6210 and an OfficeJet 4315v needs the center of HP solutions for scan.

  Am I try to download a Vista driver, try to install it, or is there a better solution.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  RnrMusicMan: (btw, former musician of Navy for this purpose) I need to send thanks a lot for your answer. I have tried, almost to the point of questioning my sanity, too many times tried too many things and all have failed. Why not go and buy a new printer? Financial considerations. Here's what I've worked with... (finally a good result there, at least the best I know for the moment at the end)

  (1) start here, I have an older HP all C720 printer wireless. I do not think at the moment there is a download of the full version which will allow him to install it in a machine of 8.1. An 8 machine if necessary, but not a 8.1 I do not...? That's what I gathered. Where I made my mistake, so, I was this old horse to battle C7280 installed on my newer HP Pavilion and worked very well with 8.1, (read on before thinking 8.1 work with the C7280) when I say great worked, I mean the Solution Center has worked.   I did a factory restore. No former antivirus autour. Nothing is added. Presitine and already had Service Pack 3 with the resumption of the plant.  What follows I have none to little idea of his touch, but that's what I did.

  (2) I have an old modem that I had used as a slave of my new modem D-Link. I got it, because many of my devices will not work on the new 'n'.  I think, old modem old printer, old BONES. I have set the printer to get the old o SSID of the slave and agreed which has no password. Fortunately, I know anyone personally that could use this wireless slave and they all have their own.

  (3) so once again, I downloaded the full version of XP on the netbook. Extracted, he ran, and so he went the full installation and works.

  That's a lot, but I'm a cheap guy who hates to throw even if old devices, good. I use this Chrome extension called Extension Office remotely in order to get on the netbook from any computer and print using the Solution Center.

  I don't know what I did but I know I've worked. So this is my solution. I'm sure some could find another work around, but probably way above my paygrade.

  Once again, thanks a lot for taking the time. I think I followed your solution several, much too long and did not work. Unless I was always doing something wrong.  My solution was radical but it works for me always try to use these appliances. I just take good care of them and they last. My most recent is the HP Pavilion and it's going on 2 years now.

  I need help.  I the all-in one above for years and have had no problems with the drivers and software.  As soon as I upgraded my laptop windows 8.1, Solution Center HP tells me that I have to re - install.  I called HP because I couldn't find the driver anywhere (and I do not have the CD either) and they told me that this printer is obsolete and the driver is no longer available.

• My Center solution officejet 4500 g510n-z has stopped working. tried to reinstall the software, no luck,

  Solution Center says that my device does not complete the installation... This is a new issue. I have been using this printer since the installation of this new. I reinstalled it & no luck. I can print via wireless (test page) & wireless diagnosis says everything is fine. I also tried to use a patch 'add a device' downloaded from HP printer worked very well for 2 other computers on my home network. the test page shows my IP address correctly. I really don't want to go through the hassle of completely uninstall & reinstall. any advise?

  Thank you for the follow up to Advisor but the only thing that worked was to completely uninstall the printer software and do a fresh install.  Now my HP Solution Center opens, the printer prints very well. BTW, I tried to install the DOWNLOAD & that didn't work, either. I had a window of solution that made me walk through many steps & still not managed to exploit the property. anyone else having this problem, should just uninstall & reinstall, I guess.
