change anti-aliasing effect through several layers of text?

Hi, this might be a weird, but I was wondering if it is possible to change the anti-aliasing of 'pointed' to 'strong' through multiple layers of text. I have exported an illustrator strongly stratified as a .psd file preserving the editability of the text, but am really unhappy that the default value is 'pointed' to both the letters and the kerning. Maybe there is something I should be doing in illustrator before exporting? Select and change the effect of anti-aliasing of the type on each of these layers (there are many) is going to be tedious.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Erika

With the type tool active, select the layers that must change in the layers panel (SHIFT - and control - click on them to highlight at the same time). Then simply change the smoothing parameters in the options bar, and all the layers should change. It works (at least) CS2, 3 and 4.

You can even use Select menu > all layers if you are really changing all of them.

  • What is the best practice to block through several layers sizes: hardware and hypervisor VM OS?

The example below is not a real Setup, I work with, but should get the message. Here's my example of what I'm doing as a reference layer:

(LAYER1) Hardware: The hardware RAID controller

    • -1 TB Volume configured in the 4K block size. (RAW)?

    (Layer2) Hypervisor: Data store ESXi

    • -1 TB of Raid Controller formatted with VMFS5 @ block size of 1 MB.

    Layer (3) the VM OS: Server 2008 R2 w/SQL

    • -100 GB virtual HD using NTFS @ 4 K for the OS block size.
    • -900 GB virtual HD set up using NTFS @ 64 K block size to store the SQL database.

It seems that vmfs5 is limited to only having a block size of 1 MB. It would be preferable that all or part of the size of the blocks matched on different layers and why or why not? What are the different block sizes on other layers and performance? Could you suggest better alternative or best practices for the sample configuration above?

If a San participated instead of a hardware on the host computer RAID controller, it would be better to store the vmdk of OS on the VMFS5 data store and create an iSCSI separated THAT LUN formatted to a block size of 64 K, then fix it with the initiator iSCSI in the operating system and which size to 64 K. The corresponding block sizes through layers increase performance or is it advisable? Any help answer and/or explaining best practices is greatly appreciated.

    itsolution,

Thanks for the helpful response points. I wrote a blog about this which I hope will help:

Alignment of partition and blocks of size VMware 5 | blog.jgriffiths.org

To answer your questions here, will:

I have 1 TB of space (around) and create two Virutal Drives.

Virtual Drive 1-10GB - to use for OS Hyper-visiere files

Virtual Drive 2 - 990 GB - used for the storage of data/VM VMFS store

The element size of default allocation on the Perc6 / i is 64 KB, but can be 8,16,32,64,128,256,512 or 1024 KB.

What size block would you use table 1, which is where the real hyper-visiere will be installed?

-> If you have two tables I would set the size of the block on the table of the hypervisor to 8 KB

What block size that you use in table 2, which will be used as the VM data store in ESXi?

    ->, I'd go with 1024KO on VMFS 5 size

-Do you want 1024KO to match the VMFS size which will be finally formatted on top he block?

    -> Yes

    * Consider that this database would eventually contain several virtual hard drives for each OS, database SQL, SQL logs formatted to NTFS to the recommended block, 4K, 8K, 64K size.

-> The problem here is THAT VMFS will go with 1 MB, no matter what you're doing so sculpture located lower in the RAID will cause no problems but does not help either. You have 4 k sectors on the disk. RAID 1 MB, 1 MB invited VMFS, 4 k, 8K, 64 K. Really, 64K gains are lost a little when the back-end storage is 1 MB.

If the RAID stripe element size is set to 1 024 Ko so that it matches the VMFS 1 MB size of block, which would be better practice or is it indifferent?

    -> So that's 1024KB, or 4 KB chucks it doesn't really matter.

What effect this has on the OS/Virtual HD and their sizes respective block installed on top of the tape and the size of block VMFS element?

-> The effect is minimal on the performance but that exists. It would be a lie to say that he didn't.

I could be completely on the overall situation of the thought, but for me it seems that this must be some kind of correlation between the three different "layers" as I call it and a best practice in service.

Hope that helps. I'll tell you I ran block size SQL and Exchange time virtualized without any problem and without changing the operating system. I just stuck with the standard size of microsoft. I'd be much more concerned by the performance of the raid on your server controller. They continue to do these things cheaper and cheaper with cache less and less. If performance is the primary concern then I would consider a matrix or a RAID5/6 solution, or at least look at the amount of cache on your raid controller (reading is normally essential to the database)

    Just my two cents.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Thank you

  • How to create holes through several layers?

I would like to use boxes to drill holes in the work in layers below them. I want the result to look exactly like this image, but with the white boxes in transparent holes.

It seems so simple, but I can't find any combination of forms of tools/compounds of layers/pathfinder / or clipping masks that will produce this result. No matter what, I end up losing a part of the work (usually the topo lines and the black bar).

    What Miss me?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Screen Grab.jpg

    mirvlem,

    You can:

    (1) select the boxes to become of the holes and object > Group (if already nort);

    (2) to select the entire document and in transparency, palette flyout check do with unchecked with Clip opacity mask and invert the mask ticked.

There seems to be no need of multiple layers, but the opacity mask pierces through them all right.

  • How to remove anti-aliasing effect of Layerstyle STROKE?

Hello. I use Photoshop cs5 win version.

I often use the layer style - edge effect, to getting shots, but if I apply the effect to a layer, the line is always flag, crenellated. Do you know how to remove these embattled, the semi-transparent pixels?

I need all the pixels at 100% opacity, because it is much easier to change, more easy to select.

I always use an adjustment layer threshold with white go solid layer crisp, alias pixel race, but it is a bit of your time, so if you know the quickest way and most effective, please tell me.

    Thank you in advance.

One way would be to use a combination of a layer style inner and outer glow instead of a stroke.

  • Dynamic filters that mix through several layers?

Anyone know if this is possible? I would like to use dynamic - or something - filters for filters in a way that is applied to the lower layers of the stack and cumulative. It's been a few versions that I really sank my teeth in the deeper parts of the mixing layer. I was wondering if this is possible. I know how to simulate the effect smart masking and lots of filters, I was just wondering if it is implemented in a more interactive way.

For example, I would like to create a hidden (white box below) Gaussian blur effect and layer it with other Gaussian blur effect layers upward so that their effect where they overlap is cumulative (blue box). Basically, I would like the area of the effect to be a widget live, furniture and be able to organize these widgets dynamically.

Make sense? Is this a feature request? Or is it one of those things ' oh man that has been in Photoshop since 3.0, you didn't know?

    effect-masks.jpg

No, dynamic filters work on a single smart object - but that Smart Object can contain multiple layers.

Filtering as an adjustment layer doesn't work too well - math make it is too slow too quickly.

  • Is there a way to control the color (or other properties) of several layers of text at a time?

A frequent case when you design a Web page:

I create text elements/blocks and each a title, body, etc...

each title is a separate text layer and I use the actual content (so no lorem ipsum)

Is there a way to set the color of the text as separate dynamic object or kind of style? So when I want to try other color I would be able to change it in one place and it applies to all linked text layers that use it...

Dynamic objects using works fine for repeated identical items, but not when the elements are different as these texts...

The library using CC allows you to set the style that can be applied again to several objects, but in the case of a PSD file complex with a long list of records and layers, it is very difficult and a lot of time to select all the layers desired by hand and apply them the style you want...

In the end, I'm looking for a clear way to define a style sheet: fonts, colors, attack, variants, etc. as distinct kind of "smart objects"...

    Is this achievable in Photoshop?

Create a solid color fill adjustment layer and turn it into a smart object. This duplicate SO using ctrl/cmd-J and hang it on all the text layers you want color. You can then open the SO and change the color and it will be applied to all the text layers that this particular SO is cut to.

  • More specific anti-aliasing prevents multiple images rendering at the same time after awhile

    Hi all.

I am experiencing inconsistent memory, behaviour management when rendering my AE project that prevents me from making several images at the same time when some elements of film use accurate antialiasing.

I have a processor 8-core i7 MacBook Pro with 8 GB of RAM and I am using AE CS5.5. I visited a project with several Illustrator layers imported to keep things nice and crispy. Here is a 3D with one camera, DOF, composition and they are continuously rasterized. On some of the vector assets I have to set the antialiasing for "More precise" in the dialog box interpret footage to address some problems with image quality. Here's what I noticed when rendering:

    1. when anti-aliasing on all assets of Illustrator is set on "Faster" return it without issues composition.

    2. I change the setting of antialiasing on some assets of the Illustrator to "More specific" to improve the quality of the image. Made of several images at the same time is off. Composition makes for a while, but eventually I get an error: "after effects error: unable to allocate enough memory for file antialias (50:5).

    3. to work around the error I load AE to empty the memory cache all 5 images or less via the Secret menu in the preferences. This prevents the error from happening and I can see the RAM being deallocated when from time to time as expected. This allows me to return the quality I need, but it is slower.

    4. in order to expedite things I light made simultaneous multiple images. I use the conservative settings: AE is to use only two hearts with 3 GB of RAM by heart (the maximum allowed). The rendering is accelerated. However, I see that the system "in use" RAM continues to increase at each image made up until the computer runs out, how AE automatically turns off made simultaneous multiple images and begins to display one image at a time. This does not happen whe all vector assets are defined to use fast antialiasing one I can make indefinitely with simultaneous multiple images rendering, but I don't get this way the desired quality. Please note that there is enough RAM for the carrots for multiple images rendering, but it seems as if having made a frame, the system is not free or reuse the memory when assets use specific anti-aliasing and will use another piece until there is no more.

Also, I'm outputing to a sequence of images.

Please help me to find a workaround for this problem. Thank you!

This is probably a software design limitation (or bug) in the underlying code of Illustrator and there is no work around for this. You might dutifully report it here, but it's as good as it gets, and even when you do, you shouldn't be pregnant it be fixed anytime soon. In 12 years of use AE, that kind of thing never worked 100% right...

  • Zoom through several Photos

I'm new to After Effects and trying to replicate a similar sequence of an After Effects file, someone has already done in my cabinet. It's a zoom back effect buzzing of big picture plan New York (empire state building) through several photos to finally a picture of the globe. I do not understand how the zoom effect has been obtained, as there is no camera layer (this is how I saw it in many instructional videos). I also do not understand how the layers of photos work, because it seems that all the layers in the photo are on through the entire timeline. Shouldn't they overlap and cause a mess? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm sure someone has done this project with the technique presented by Andrew Kramer on one of his tutorials to almost 100%. You can find information of oll and this tutorial here: VIDEO COPILOT | After effects, Plug-ins, tutorials and stock footage for Post Production professional

  • Problem with anti-aliasing on the text fields scrolls

I am building an application using FlashBuilder and currently running on the latest version of Mac OS x, and test my application in the anti-discrimination Act. I see the strangest problem; I have a large window, and I use scrollrect to view different parts of the window. When I set the scrollrect and it works very well, the window scrolls to the top just as you expect. But "BOLD" text on the screen becomes much more ugly after I scroll. I tried to set CacheAsBitmap on the sprite containing that scrolls, but that has no effect. It affects the text that could be in the middle of the window and just move upward, slightly; all of the characters in the text has ruined the subpixel antialiasing.

Is it a weakness known use ScrollRect? How can I work around this problem? I tried to turn on cacheasbitmap for all my sprites, but nothing has changed. I tried to set the AntiAliasType my TextField in ADVANCED, but which has also had no effect.

It is confusing to me, why the rendering is so bad after a scroll. Even when I go back to its original position (scroll down, then upward), the text is ugly. It's almost as if he shot it twice on the screen, but it's probably just a lower level of text rendering.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I've identified the problem. It is caused by a bug in my code, which is the double drawing of text on the other fields. When you have a large font size which is antialised, when you draw a second copy on the top, the aliasing allie to ruin the sweetness of the police. It is the only clue you double drew an object! Very interesting question in vector graphics, can not say once easily when you drew something twice!

  • How to disable anti-aliasing when layer resizing

[PhotoShop Elements for Mac Version 6.0]

    Hello

I want to resize a layer for example the orange ball:

    Screen shot 2012-08-22 at 09.48.38.png

But if I resize the layer of the ball and confirm the resizing automatically apply a smoothing that is not desired in my case:

    Screen shot 2012-08-22 at 09.48.59.png

    How can I stop this?

    Thank you very much!

Also if you have other layers that you want to resize, you can go ahead and free transform allows you to resize your object.

Then go to filter > Pixelize > facet to remove the anti-aliasing. You may need to run the filter facet several times to completely eliminate anti-aliasing.

  • Which past now and not days ago = > publication of text captions with anti-aliasing off the coast looking for really bad.

I reported the bellows of text and I'd like to know if it happens to someone else.

    Concise problem statement:

When you publish buttons with text or text with antialiasing off the coast, the result is very bad.

Last project I cancelled 2 months ago and it seems good. But when I did a few changes yesterday and I published it again all the buttons and links that they looked very bad.

I tried with different computers, where they have installed captivate and I have reproduced the bug how I show below and in any place of same problem.

I can't show the client the changes because the evil look textfields.

I tried to reinstall all the options, Captivate and install older versions of flash and nothing plugin, everything looks the same. Probably a windows update may cause the problem, I don't know.

    Steps to reproduce the bug:
    1. black background or dark color
    2. create the button and select Properties
    3. Select the text color color yellow or clear, size of large font (24-30) and transparent background
    4 publish

Results: no text no embattled arround White halo, eat as the text. The part of the text is a bit fuzzy.

Resemble the translucent color part of the text to produce somehow anti-aliasing is white in color.

Expected results: the net image as html on browser text.

    Hi again

    Well, it give a try.

Minimize all applications that you can see the desktop.

Right click on the desktop, then select Properties.

    Click the appearance tab.

    Click on the effects button.

You see an option called use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts?

If so, disable the option and click OK.

Report back if you still have this option and, if so, if you erase it helps.
