Change DVD drive region code

I have a laptop with Windows 8 on it and I had problems with a "region code" because we got it. Second hand, it was when we got, but it works and the Guy didn't have anything set up. How would I go about editing a "region code"?

Hi Jared,

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

a. click on this computer and then click Properties.
b. click Advanced System Properties.

c. in the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
d. in the list of devices, double-click on CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, click on the DVD drive for which you want to change the region setting and then click Properties.
e. on the tab area of the DVD, make the desired changes.

Hope this information helps. Answer the post with an up-to-date issue report to help you further.

    Hello

It is my first request for assistance.
My CD/DVD drive is most recognized, and when I go to Device Manager and click on CD/DVD I'm informed that the cdrom.sys file is there but cannot be loaded.

An error number 39 is reported.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, but please keep things simple to the actions of a single line if possible.

Of course, you can get a few tips ;)
I think you might find faster if you are looking for first in the forum, but I'll try to help you too.

He error code 39 is very common issue and can be resolved easily.
See this MS knowledge base article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us

So first of all remove the CD/DVD drive device manager.
Then access the registry using the regedit command and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Reboot the laptop and wait until the CD/DVD drive has been installed again.

    That s it. ;)

    Hello!

Try to delete upper filters and lower, as in this Knowledge Base article Microsoft has offered:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

    (1) run Regedit (start > run > Regedit)
    2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  • XP cannot find CD and DVD drives - 41 code

I just reinstalled XP Pro on my PC.  In 'My Computer' my CD drive or my DVD player - RW appear.  In Device Manager, two discs show, with yellow exclamation point. In the properties of each drive, it says XP installed the driver, but cannot locate the device (Code 41).

  • Portege M200 error - CD/DVD drive problem - Code 39

I have a problem. I would like to perform a recovery on my m200 Tablet System.

I have a dvd external drive (as the m200 has not built into the player) and the correct recovery disk.
However, because of a problem that occurred some time ago, there is a problem with the driver (+ Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device.

The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) +), and so I can't start the recovery.

If someone knows a way I can fix the driver, or another way to perform a system restore, it would be extremely useful!
A solution to the problems of one or two would be great.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

    > The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) +), and so I can't start the recovery.
Are you sure about that? This code appears in running the operating system but recovery doesn't run under the operating system currently running.
Please try to start the recovery procedure and let me know exactly what is happening.

rThen your question isn't specific to Windows 7, you must consult the manufacturer. You should be able to disable the USB via the BIOS ports. Also, why do you want to set the optical drive as read only? If it is shared? If so, the advanced sharing disk properties, from there, you can set permissions on the drive. • Region code of the DVD player

The DVD on my Pavilion A1375A Media Center PC drive is set to region 1 - I am in Australia (region 4).

    I can't set it to region 4.

I asked HP to sell me a new DVD player, but they do not know what the new discs region code will be and asked that I contact Microsoft and ask:

    (a) area code would change once a factory of re - configure?

It seems strange to me that HP can't?

    Hello

You must talk to people bad at HP since it is not Windows that
decides what optical drives of regions are defined.  HP provides probably hundreds
readers of your region (really the thousands).

    It is by design.

  • Universal region code

I got a question asked of me today:

"Do you know if the DVD format is universal and is compatible with the DVD overseas."

systems? I bought the DVD before USA to see they don't work here

    in South Africa. »

I think there are two issues at work here, the first, that's how I author of the DVD - Unversal region Code, the second is vs PAL NTSC.

Can someone show me how to control universal Codes in the region?

    Thank you

Region codes apply only for discs pressed in trade, made by a House of replication. The project still will be output to DLT and which will be shipped to the port replicator. Don't set any region Code, if you burn a disc, because which may cause the project to fail and not will be not honored on a burned disc, just as protection against copying (only applies to replication and can also cause trouble, so called). Region codes are used to restrict the gameplay in certain geographic areas, such as ONLY the United States, etc.

Now, vs PAL NTSC is different. These are standards of television. In very general terms (still many exceptions), a NTSC DVD will play in most of the new Euro (PAL) players. Unfortunately, the reverse is not so. I don't know any player NTSC, who manage the PAL discs, although there might be some double players out there.

The ideal is to produce a PAL project for the distribution of PAL as well as NTSC for distribution to NTSC.

    Good luck

  • How to change DVD region on Satellite P500 settings?

Hello everyone, thanks to Pau Pau and Xarxas for their information in this new day, but I have to be more desperate than I thought. I can't seem to locate the Device Manager icon that will allow me to move to the region 4, I'm not on my laptop now, but I remember well he gives only two icons apparently irrelevant in Device Manager.

Could someone talk me through the process step by step once more please?

    Hello

Why you want to do in the Device Manager.
As I mentioned in my post http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums//message.jspa?messageID=211412 at first you should do it here:

    My computer-> drive CD / DVD-> properties-> Hardware tab-> choose the CD drive / DVD-> properties-> DVD region

The DVD region tab contains options to change the region code
