• How will I know if my Airport Extreme has the latest firmware?  And (not related) how to change the password used to connect to my network?

  I think I bought the latest version of Airport Extreme.  It is the unit which is rectangular, is about 6 to 7 w., etc.  I have some basic questions that I do not understand:

  1. How will I know if I have the latest firmware for this device?  I read a few posts that make it sound as if it was just automatically updates.  Is this true?

  2. can someone tell me how to change the password used to connect to my wireless network?

  If a firmware update is available, AirPort Extreme flashes orange.

  The most up-to-date version of the firmware is 7.7.3.

  You can see what version you currently have the following on your Mac...

  Open Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility

  Click on the image of the AirPort Extreme

  Look for the Version

  If the new firmware was available, you will see a button update here

  To change the wireless network password...

  Click on edit in the window smaller than you watched just to check the firmware version

  Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the next window

  Go back / change the wireless password and enter a new password

  Do the same thing to check

  Click Update at the bottom right of the window and give the airport a minute full for restart

  Hello, im having a problem going on with my wireless network and really need help. I have a pummel wireless "netgear" and I changed the administrative name and added own mt personal password or paraphrase 6 months ago when I 1st put in place... 2 months ago my son of 12 years told our nieghbors the password to our secure wifi network and now I need to change the password. We never had any connection problems or have been started our network then put on a random {no} unill 2 weeks after this password was compermized. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE SSID ROUTER PASSWORD? YOUR HELP WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

  Open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The default username is admin and the default password is the password if you have not changed it. On the router configuration page, select 'Wireless Settings' in the left column. You can set up a new SSID, security type, and password here. If you have changed the default user name and the password to the router configuration page, use the reset button on the back of the router to reset to the factory settings and proceed as above.

  I don't know why it should not work on your machine, but you can reset your password like this:
  1. click on start.
  2. type the three letters cmd in the search box.
  3. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
  4. click on "run as Administrator".
  5. type the following command:
  NET user "user %%nom" xxyyzz {Enter}
  (Replace the password you want to use xxyyzz)

  You need self-service password reset, it's a different product in eSSO suite.

  You can't if you don't have the phone. Did you have settings > iCloud > find iPhone activated on this subject - if you did you could try the location via http://www.icloud.com on a computer or find an iPhone app on another iOS device (it will only potentially locate if it is connected to a network).

  OK, I know that this question was asked before here and other places, but I tried a lot of things and still cannot get him to stop.

  I use Outlook 2007 to access my aol e-mail account. Until recently it has been works well with none or very few problems. This happens once in a blue moon in the past, maybe once every 3 weeks to a month and then happen not for awhile. But from this week, it occurs once every 5 minutes about an hour every day. (Has happened twice since I started typing this so far.) This is incredibly annoying doesn't even begin to describe. For more far to annoy me, I have a rule to configure in Outlook where some emails get sent to my work address while I'm not home and when this box appears here at home while I'm at work, nothing doesn't get passed, nothing happens anywhere because I'm not here to click ok in the darn box!
  OK, to cut to the Chase, I have Windows XP with Outlook 2007 here, and I checked my aol email. All parameters have been controlled and tested and is exactly the same as when it was working fine. Other things that can help to know, I have McAfee Antivirus on the computer and the router wireless Belkin F5D8235-4 low. I had McAfee antivirus for many years without any problems and I got the router hooked ever since November 2009 with no problems until now that is.
  Here is what I tried so far, all have not helped at all: (I thought that I would tell you which has been tried and didn't work, so we don't waste time on them).
  1 has created a new Outlook profile. Did not stop the pop ups.
  2 Ran Outlook in safe mode for non-Microsoft services would not be executed. Did not stop the pop ups.
  3. saved registry and the information of the user account deleted from the options of password subkey, and then reinstated "Protected Storage System Provider. Did not stop the pop ups.
  4. disabled in McAfee messaging protection. Did not stop the pop ups. (Just got a new one! Ugh.)
  5 Rebooted/Restarted router. Did not stop the pop ups.
  I'm currently at the "I got Nothin'" point about what should be judged then.
  Anyone has any idea what this might be outside what I already tried?
  I am altogether strung here and it drives me crazy. Anyone have any ideas?

  Update for me.
  Because I changed my e-mail verification of the intervals of 5-10 minutes, there was a considerable improvement in this issue. For a while it has virtually disappeared, it was like the good old days when it happened almost never.
  A few week days last the problem returned with a vengeance, as bad as when it reached its maximum when I started this thread. But I went on google and found a lot of internet chatter, suggesting that it seems to be a question of aol - across the network to an end, given that many people in the country had the same problems. So, it looks that I have would have been doing the pop-ups regardless.
  It seems that to subject the week last, aol themselves have had major problems to their e-mail systems based on internet comments there from other customers, so by doing this problem much more difficult to solve since now you know exactly what is the first cause pop-ups until aol gets their end of it solved. I can certainly tell you that raise the time intervals to send/receive 5 to 10 minutes doesn't seem to go very far to solve problems with pop-ups. Even though I'm still trying, here and there, I think that those that I received lately have been due to problems at AOL more so than mine, based on reviews other aol users. I hope that I may be at the end of the tunnel on this subject but thanks to what is happening to their end (aol), I can't say for sure yet. I'll keep you posted.

  I am running Windows XP Pro with service pak 2.  I am visiting my daughter and tries to connect to the wireless network.  Last year when I was here, I was able to connect without a problem.  Now she changed her password and when I try to enter it I get this message:

  My system does not give me a choice for WEP or WPA - WEP is the only option.  Are there updates will fix this problem?  Thank you

  I'm skeptical but okay.  Install SP3 for Windows XP (see link above) and you should have the capabilities, (WPA and WPA2).

  I use a public wifi who changes his password every month. I connected it with my Acer Switch 10 E for the first time last month (a week ago) and I was asked for the password. Now, it's a new month and I am not prompted for the password and I can't find a place to change the stored password.   Thanks for the suggestion, but again, this access to the security for any unconnected network tab is precisely what I was not able to do. The problem is: when not connected, no wifi connection appear in the list of wifi-State; only an icon for the device software. If I right click on that window opebned upward has shown me the properties of the driver etc., not on the network.   If it's your computer, then bring it in a store and see if they can reformat the drive and reinstall Windows, or otherwise bypass.  They can at least copy the data on the hard drive.  If someone did something, you probably will never know with certainty what, it is best to reinstall the software.
