Change of Conection

Hello everyone.

My environment is as follows:

I have a few databases in different servers. and forms and reports services install in another,

My problem, I want the user to enter in a form and can choose what database, it wants to connect. (In fact an option, not giving the user/password@conectionname)

I have the tnsnames.ora with all the conection is tested and working properly.

Any ideas wellcome.

Say hello to everyone.
Thank you in advance for your interest.

What version of forms and DB are you using?

You can do this in several ways

with Oracle 10 g you can connect clients to db without using Tnsnames.ora

CONNECT username/pwd@[/]host[:port][[service_name]]
CONNECT hr/hr@//atlas:1521/recipes

but I have not tested with forms

Another way is to

1 creating user in the database which only has connect privileges for example logtodb and a table
2. create the table with all of your references in there in logtoDb user DB
3. at the session of forms to connect by default to the user of the connection.
4. switch database session in FORMS using following code

logout;
logon(username, pwd||'@'||alias);

It may be useful

  • HP laserjet Pro 400 computer M401n restart

The printer causes the restart to start the computer.  The printer will also cause the computer to reboot a few seconds after printing a document.   We have connected the printer to another computer and the same thing happens.  Can't whenever we print but much too often.  The two compters are running Windows 7 Service Pack 1, 64-bit.  The problem seems to be worse since the printer did an automatic update.

We did not have this probelem on our previous hp laserjet and it is not on our current Officejet Pro8600

A tech with our ISP service solves the problem.  We had the printer connected via a USB port on one of the processors that apparently caused the reboots.  We changed the conection of a port of network on the router and not more it recharges.

  • How can I change my password? Please don't link to archived answers, they are inadequate and inaccurate

Thanks for helping with this. I run Thunderbird on Linux and need to access my corp email account, which requires a password change every 90 days.
I found this archived solution: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1029452
It points to "how to remove E-mail the password stored in thunderbird:
    https://KB.wisc.edu/page.php?id=19006
But this info is for Windows, then it could use an update for Linux.
I managed to delete my old password and restart Thunderbird. But T-bird is not connected, do not ask me for a password and does not silently. I checked and there is no password stored.
I understand that these things are hard to fix (I'm a software dev), but t-bird does not work for me, without being able to use my password by e-mail.

do not point to the archived answers, they are insufficient and inaccurate

The link you provided is inadequate or inaccurate.

But this info is for Windows, then it could use an update for Linux.

This info is for Windows and Mac OS. The only real difference is the main menu.
    Windows: Tools - Options
MacOS and Linux: change preferences (Alt-E).

But T-bird is not connected, do not ask me for a password

If Thunderbird can not conect to the server, it will prompt for a password. You must first solve the problem of connectivity.

    Hi John,.

1 did you changes to the computer before the show?
    2. are you able to go online?

Limited connection: This means that the PC is connected to the router, but the computer has not been assigned a valid IP address, so you can not access the Internet. It can also indicate that a valid IP address has been assigned, but the computer does not have an Internet connection. If you are connected to a home network, try restarting the router. You are trying to share files between a Vista computer (since you posted in a forum of Vista) and a Windows 7 machine?

The Vista network type must be set to 'Private' and the Windows 7 network type must be set to "Home" or "work".

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below). The Vista network type must be on "private". "Public" is for when you are connected to an Internet connection 'foreign' as an Internet café, at Starbucks or a hotel, etc.

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    (C) in Vista, turn on password protected sharing. In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

Create accounts of users and corresponding passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

Vista - Start ORB > Search > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.

  • HP Photosmart B209a is no longer connect wirelessly because change of modem/router

I recently had to change a modem Motorola Surfboard, router Netgear (both at least 5 years). The new modem/router combo is a C3700 Docsis 3.0. My printer HP Photosmart Plus B209a model is no longer connects to the wireless network.  I tried the push button and pin. I get a WPS, unable to connect. When I print the network settings, my network is listed but the printer shows offline with no active conection. Firmware is EIL1FNO926AR and stands as the last revision of the printer. Wireless 802.11 under the mac address is given, and status is offline.  In addition, the printer and modem/router are about 3 feet apart on the same desktop.

Any ideas for what to do to get my printer back online or is not compatible with the new modem/router?

If you see before other server which doesn't mean its correct, yes well it work but is not the right solution or recommendation. and you must know the use of loopback Ip
and then deciding its wrong or right?

Loopback addresses are usually for testing or to access resources on the same computer
