• Changing the SID to a custodian of data enabled database?

  Hey all,.

  Excuse me if I ask in the totally wrong place, but I don't know where else to turn.

  I have a database configured with Data Guard for primary and secondary replication, and I wonder to change the SID for the primary (and possibly, secondary in the future). Is there a guide I can follow this process? I went to the site of the Oracle documentation and see nothing explicit, and one mentioned blog site I can just change the SID without any problems for the primary or secondary databases as long as Data Guard is already set up but I don't know if it's true (and will not test without breakdown of replication).

  Anyone who must deal with this before? Any advice would be much appreciated.

  Change the SID wouldn't matter unless you change the DB_NAME. Change DB_NAME should hit your dataguard configuration as it should be the same in the primary and standby databases.

  If you plan to change the SID, then:

  1. the pfile/spfile should be init .ora orname of spfile .ora

  2. the password file are to be considered for the new SID and even need to be copied across to waiting for other database Eve could start yelling at you

  3. If you have a static entry in the listener.ora file, which should be updated.

  4. the TNSNAMES file. ORA file must also be updated with the new SID.

  My servers have changed and I need to add new servers to my Mail application, but I can't change the incoming mail server: the text in the incoming mail server field is light gray and I can't choose or change. I changed the outgoing mail server and I can now send emails, but reception does not work. The incoming mail server is online and it is the same as the outgoing e-mail server.

  I have a Subvi who writes something analog output channel of the DAQ hardware. It works fine and it does what I expect, but on the occurrence of an event, I would like to change the flow of data exported to something else. What I've learned so far, it's that I should write the stream (for example the waveform) for AO before starting the task. When I start the task I don't know how I can change the predfined stream to the new.

  I'm wondering first what I learned, what the story or I missed something and then if it is possible to do what I have to do?

• Change the incoming mail server?

  My company uses a hosted e-mail service, and I've not found a way to change the incoming mail server, if I can use SSL (criticism for unreliable wifi!).  The SSL certificate raises an error to me every time, and I am sure because "mail.domain.com" eventually returned a real certificate for the actual host name.

  I managed to change the outgoing server, but if it is not possible to change the incoming server, it is a major part of Palm oversight and should be corrected immediately.  This phone cannot be taken seriously for a user in a company without it.

  Someone at - it information that I'm missing?

  Try this.

  1 delete the account if you already have it in place
  2. click on add account
  3. in the box enter your address and email password screen select the menu (top left corner)
  4. click on manual set up
  5. change of pop to EAS
  6. 3rd field down is incoming mail server

  The way simplest would be using quick Clone - run preclone on the database/application, stop the application/database, run post clone on demand database and change the SID.

  (1) you do not have to upgrade the version of database.
  (2) ODP.NET is designed to allow multiple versions on the same machine. Each version should be in his own house in Oracle. We install policy dll so you must remove them from the GAC if you no longer want old apps to pick up the new ODP.NET. There is a discussion of this in the online help ODP.NET with some additional information about the use of configuration files of .net to achieve the same thing.
