change the SSID

Hello

I was asked to rename the current SSID (data, voice, Fords 1) because they have weird names. We have 3 controllers (4402) and ~ 55 APs.

Above all and change the SSID name for the particular WLAN want to ensure that customers will be able to reconnect correctly using the new SSID.

First of all, I guess I have to disable the WIFI network to be able to change it.

Can someone let me know if you need other things to consider as well as potential problem?

Thank you

Krisztián

Hello

You can't cange the name of an existing SSID SSID.

If you want to use the different SSID name you will need to create a new SSID with the new name and your copy of case all existing SSID SSID settings.

Regarding the current SSID, you can disable or simply delete if you no longer have to use it.

But remember that this means that all clients associated with the previous SSID will be disconnected and will need to associate the new SSID.

HTH,

Tiago

  • HP Officejet Pro 8100: change the ssid

I recently tried the Hotspot to unite AT & T.  That has worked very well but not decided to take it and went back to my Airport base station and the old service provider.  When I tried to connect my printer to my network - a printer works fine but the HP Officejet Pro 8100 will not change back the Name (SSID) the name for the old SSID hotspot network.  Since I was a new AirBook Pro I have to connect the cable to a USB port and then run the utility for my printer and select network.  It does not connect.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried this many times and it would be not just to reset the ssid. So after writing my post, I tried pressing the wireless button and the on/off switch at the same time. I went to try out some other combinations and print the configuration page. He changed the ssid for the correct name. Of course then I had to do what you described. Go to the printer utility with the cable connecting the computer and the printer and click on network. It has finally connected and I unplugged the cable between the computer and the printer. No problems now. Thanks for responding so quickly and hope it helps someone else.

  • How can I change the SSID to a Photosmart C4580?

I browsed the forum and read some articles which none still worked. I use a Mac and spin the OS of Yosemite. In the sourse of trying to get the ro printer recognize the new router I have rest the factory default, so he now tells me that the SSID is hpsetup. How can I now change that to pick up the new router SSID?

    Hey Andy,

You can try to enter the password in the section "WPA - PSK", instead of "WEP encryption" section, to see if it will work. It won't hurt to not test.

Here are a few screenshots from another thread with someone who has the same issue which may help:

If try your password does not work, you can try an application called Keychain, which can be used to retrieve wireless password, just to make sure that you use the same one.

Several times, I get the same message.

But my printer will work hooked up to the USB key.

My old router (Netgear) leaves so I bought a new.  Everything worked fine before.  Installed a new and my computer (HP laptop) worked well, went to use the printer... Finally uninstalled and installed, but would never go farthur than the above.  I don't know what to try more except that I printed the wireless network Test report and he tells me that the printer cannot find the wireless router.  I noticed that the SSID has the old name.   Also print the Page of Network Configuration of HP and see that he concluded l network, which is the new.  So, where can I change printer SSID?  I can't find where I can change it.

  • How can I change the SSID for my C4780 printer can find my wireless phone?

I changed routers and got a new SSID.  Now I can't change it so the printer can find it.

The best way to do this on a Mac would be to uninstall the printer completely and reinstall it with the CD or downloaded at HP software.

Make sure you start by unplugging the USB cable.

During installation, you can choose the option network and connect the USB cable when prompted.  Follow the prompts and it should get reconnected to the network.

Here is a document from HP that details how to install this printer on a network.

There may be other ways, but the lack of a configuration wizard wireless (due to the feature of the screen), makes the limited options.

  • Changing the name SSIS

We had to change our name SSID due to being hacked.  I used e-print on our cell phones and my I pad.  Also used my printer with my HP laptop.  I have a deskjet 3520 all-in-one printer.  Now, I can't use printer because I can not change the SSID name.  Our router has a power switch button.   Also the printer appears on our i phones under wireless with our old name SSID networks.  Please this is driving me crazy!

I don't have this printer and I'm not the printer Experts... I'll try to help.

You have access to the EWS (built-in Web server) to the printer?

    • Have the printer on
    • On your computer, open your favorite browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer)
    • Open a 'new tab' or a new window in the browser, something where you can type an address as you would if you were going to open a Web page (which is what we do)
    • In the tool of Navigation Bar (where you type the web page addresses), type the IP address of the printer

Example IP address (the address of your printer will be different): 192.168.2.15

If it works, you will be able to update / change the SSID of this interface.

    Example:

    Hello

Hello, im having a problem going on with my wireless network and really need help. I have a pummel wireless "netgear" and I changed the administrative name and added own mt personal password or paraphrase 6 months ago when I 1st put in place... 2 months ago my son of 12 years told our nieghbors the password to our secure wifi network and now I need to change the password. We never had any connection problems or have been started our network then put on a random {no} unill 2 weeks after this password was compermized. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE SSID ROUTER PASSWORD? YOUR HELP WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

Open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The default username is admin and the default password is the password if you have not changed it. On the router configuration page, select 'Wireless Settings' in the left column. You can set up a new SSID, security type, and password here. If you have changed the default user name and the password to the router configuration page, use the reset button on the back of the router to reset to the factory settings and proceed as above.

  • HP OFFICEJET PRO 6230: Best way to change the settings WIFI on HP OFFICEJET PRO 6230

    Hi all

Just after some advice about this printer. It's the printer be mobile , so it can be taken with the Member of staff, connected to wifi where they are and then the group they present to can do impressions of him through their ipads (via AirPrint).

This all works well 'in House' connected to our wireless network. Have set up the printer wireless via the software installed on their laptop computer (with a USB cable to transfer the settings of the printer), but y at - it an EASY way to change the SSID and password wifi when they are there in the area? I know you can hold down the button "wifi" on the printer for three seconds (until the wireless flashes) then hold down the button "WPS" about to access/reuter and they have a link but it's only if WPS is available and that the staff member can access the reuter/access point.

They will have their laptops with them and USB cable in order to re - set the SSID and password, but seems a bit lengthy to go by "connect a new printer" for each site they visit. Is the right way to do it or there at - it another way 'over easy' I forgot. I guess also here the printer remembers SSID/passwords so that there be set up a time for a given location and then will be "auto-connect" if they come back? Is this correct?

Any help on this is much appreciated.

    See you soon,.

    Andy

Not the printer that you want to do.  Here is the Guide of the user for you to read on your wireless options.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-OfficeJet-Pro-6230-ePrinter-series/5390318/model/5390319/manuals/

You will need to run the configuration each time to connect software.  You could try Direct another wireless to connect to the printer.  You need a printer with a Panel for configuration complete front so you can easily change the SSID.

Whatever it is, everyone will have to load the software in order to use the printer.  It can automatically connect, but do not count on it.

  • HP Photosmart C4599 all-in-one: new router so want to put in the SSID code on printer. No screen on the printer to do. How can I do?

    Hello

I want to print wireless.  I recently changed my router to a 4G one and a new internet provider.   I need to enter the SSID of the router to the printer code so that it can join the wireless network and connect to my MacBook Pro.  Initially when I bought the printer, I was able to connect wireless using a provided HP CD - this does not currently work with Mac OS X 10 El Capitan, even if I have loaded down the HP update drivers.  The printer does not have a screen to change the SSID directly so I guess I have to change sort through my Apple laptop.  I you'd be grateful if someone could help me

    Clonfert

    Greetings @Clonfert,

Thank you access the Forums from HP Support for extra support! I see that you want to configure the printer on the new wireless network. I will do my best to help you with this problem.

I have provided a few steps to set up the printer via an ad-hoc connection and then convert it into infrastructure. (your network) Since there is no HP software to run the wireless installation.

Click the airport near the upper right corner on a Mac.

Click on the HP printer in the list.

It takes about 3 minutes to connect.

Once you get a solid blue light on the printer, it is successfully connected.

You will not be connected to your network for a bit while we set up the printer on the network.

Print the configuration page to get the printer IPv4 address.

Open your web browser, type the IPv4 address for the printer (Safari).

This will load the Web built-in to the printer server.

We can now configure the printer on the wireless network.

Click on the networking, on the left side, click on Wireless, fill out your information for the network. (The network name SSID, set it to the infrastructure, enter your password and the encryption type)

    Apply the settings.

Now back to the airport closest to the top right corner on a Mac and select the name of your network.

Just add the network printer on Mac now.

    Click on the Apple.

Click on System Preferences, click Print and scan icon, then click on the + sign, then select the printer from the list, click Add. (you may need to click the drop-down list to select the printer name to add it in)

    Test the printer.

If this helps you to find a solution, please click on the button "accept as a Solution. If you wish, to say thank you for my effort to help, click on the 'Thumbs Up' to give me a Kudos. Please let me know the results. Good day!

On the pager configuration, click the Wireless tab. Here, select manual configuration and you can now change the SSID.
